Not sure if this has been posted, if it has sorry to repost

This is where all 50 states stand on reopening

I think the Governor of my state is insane at the moment.

I personally feel that any state trying to reopen around May 1st, needs to change their date. May 1st is too soon IMO.

Am I the only one who feels like all this talk of re-opening by May 1st is a bunch of hot air? Perhaps I'm being too pessimistic about this, but I don't expect much of anything to re-open that soon at all. I think they are trying to keep the markets from dropping too low and prevent rioting by telling people things may open again in approx 2 weeks. If they told us that we will likely be "staying at home" for the rest of 2020, then many people would not be able to cope with that. However, most people could dig in and do another "2 weeks" of self-isolation if they believe they will see the end of it after that. But when we get to that May 1st date I fully expect they will say we need to keep on "staying home" for another 2 weeks. And so on and so on, I think the "reopen" date will just keep getting pushed back every couple weeks... :confused:o_O:eek:

MOO.

I hope you are 120 percent correct. I think May 1st is too optimistic - but remember when President Trump mentioned Easter Sunday - everyone would be at church. I really hope this is an optimistic guess and not a reality guess.

Does anyone know of a good alternative to dish soap? I am almost out, and will try to get some on my desk online grocery order, but not even sure they will have it. I will look online for some possible substitutes, but wonder if anyone has some ideas.
Do you have any 'cheap' shampoo?
I bought a few bottles at the dollar store because it works great for handwashing and I couldn't find liquid soap anywhere.

My husband tried washing the dishes with it and I think it worked fine.

Shampoo is loads gentler on skin so if normal washing up liquid makes your hands dry try this. Plus it's effective at cleaning plates too, which you know, is good.Jul 22, 2015

Good for you! I said when my hair grew back after cancer treatment I was going to dye my hair purple. I haven't yet and it's been a few months. I do have a couple of purple wigs I ordered but never wore. I just have to work up the courage lol.

Just go for it -use the wigs since they can easily be removed. It really is liberating. Who would have thunk?? I am 120 percent conservative and really boring and I took the plunge.

My son, who has been working g at home for 3 weeks, has been called back to working in the office, beginning Monday, the 20th of April. He was surprised because they had told him they could work from home until about the 27th, or the end of April.

But he got work email this morning, and they were very definite. He works at a naval base, but he is a civilian who works in IT.

He wasn't really 'working' at home the past 3 weeks because he works on equipment in the base and he couldn't really do that effectively from home. But the boss gave him and coworkers some training videos and testing to work on during this time. So he was essentially paid to get some training certificates in things he wanted to learn. That was a good thing.

But the company is not going to continue doing that. However, they did tell him their new plans.

He will work M/W/F on the first week, and Tues/Thu the next week. And half of his co-workers will do the opposite. So they were told they would have a lot more space to work, away from others.

And they will have a small private parking lot right outside their door, so they will not have to park in the larger lots and walk around crowds.

I forgot to ask if they were going to give them masks or not.

Major meat companies in the United States and Canada have closed plants temporarily due to cases of the new coronavirus and concerns about its spread.

I saw a few articles yesterday about that. Today I had to go to the bank so I went ahead and stopped at Albertsons and bought a bunch of frozen meat and some canned tuna, just in case. lol

that's good news - did you happen to file a return for 2019? I haven't yet. Trying to figure out what the discrepancy could be.

We haven't filed for 2019 taxes yet---but I got on the portal this morning, and was told our stimulus check was deposited today. And it was there as they said it was. :)

My trip next week is cancelled, happy to not have to travel. The woman who I board my 10 month old puppy with has been so understanding about all the rearranging I hate to cancel my boarding. She’s shut down her doggie day care and she probably doesn’t have many boarders so I hate to cancel on her. Dog may get a couple of days of boarding while I take a break from the puppy for a couple of days.

my future DIL got furloughed today. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston...sports-outdoors-furloughs-staff-cuts-pay.html
Not happy about that, they are going to have a rough time for a bit. Life lessons, right?

Nancy Pelosi Visits San Francisco’s Chinatown Amid Coronavirus Concerns

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi toured San Francisco's Chinatown Monday to send a message. She said there's no reason tourists or locals should be staying away from the area because of coronavirus concerns.

"That’s what we’re trying to do today is to say everything is fine here," Pelosi said. "Come because precautions have been taken. The city is on top of the situation."

‘I lost him because of that horrible place’: Smithfield worker dies from COVID-19

‘I lost him because of that horrible place’: Smithfield worker dies from COVID-19

The 64-year-old Sioux Falls man, Augustín Rodriguez, showed up for every one of his shifts at Smithfield Foods, where he worked for nearly two decades. Augustín kept coming to work even after he began experiencing COVID-19 symptoms like fever and cough because he needed to work.

It wasn't until there was sharp pain in his side that he called in sick three days before he was hospitalized on April 4, his wife said. On April 9, she received a call from Avera telling her to self-quarantine because her husband tested positive for COVID-19.

He was placed on ventilators for about two weeks. He died Tuesday morning.

The elephant in the room is that he kept coming to work even after he began experiencing COVID-19 symptoms like fever and cough...nowhere in the article did it say that Smithfield required him to.

Unless there is more to the story and I doubt there is, or it would have been reported, Augustin may be have played a big role in why the plant was shut down. The justification is that he needed to work. What, like that makes sense in this environment. And others may die because of it, and hundreds of others out of work. Not the martyr I'm looking for.

Now let's see the headline again-
‘I lost him because of that horrible place’: Smithfield worker dies from COVID-19

The media has incredible power to craft a story, but beware of what you read and hear.

If you read that back to work plan from the administration it was leaked by the Washington Post, and supposedly originated by cdc and fda,....anyway I posted it earlier. The back to work plan starts with sending children back to school, or day care or summer camps, justified on getting the parents back to work. Then, IMO the overall gist of the plan is that there is an acceptable level of covid sickness/death, and it just depends on whether the local hospitals can handle it. If there are too many cases, they will mitigate until the level drops a bit until the hospitals can handle it again. Others may interpret the plan differently, but that's how I read it

My husband works in an essential business but their hours were cut back. All orders had to be called in and picked up at dock so there has been no physical contact. He was informed Monday that they would go back to their regular hours starting June 1st. So I think in some states they're getting prepared to open. DeWine said they are already working up plans with all businesses but hasn't announced when it will open up.

Please tell me you are not doing Gulf fishing!! Vibrio in water, flesh eating bacteria. It’s also in some bayous & creeks in South. Scary.. Dr Tony, whom is used to call DH—until he exposed me to Jesus knows what by going to a crawfish boil—once had a patient who was in Gulf near Lake Charles & got a puncture from a shrimp & he washed his hand in water.. I don’t want to say more. Warm waters can harbor death.
I live in South Louisiana where we thrive on fish and seafood from the bayou, lakes and the gulf. My husband and kids waterski in the bayou and lakes. In all my years living in the Deep South, I’ve known of 2 people with the flesh eating vibrio. We have 2 crawfish seasons where there are crawfish boils wherever you turn.

Are stimulus checks going to the wrong bank account? For many, yes.
...
Around 80 million people were to receive the deposit this week, the Treasury Department said on Monday. But Wednesday, many people expressed concern and worry when the government website said the cash, up to $1,200 per person, was sent to a bank account that didn't seem to belong to them.
...
The events unfolded in a similar manner for several of the people who reached out to the IRS via Twitter. They would submit their contact information into the government's payout tracking portal, and the results would show that the money was scheduled to be deposited on April 15.

Only, the digits didn't match a bank account people were familiar with.
...

There is speculation that our university might reopen on June 1st, as well, even though it has not been formally announced.
