3. How much and how long does the high temperature have a killing effect on the virus? High-temperature environment disinfection? Does turning on air conditioning and heating work?

The virus is sensitive to heat and can effectively inactivate the virus when it reaches a temperature of 56 ° C for 30 minutes. However, it is impossible to achieve the effect of inactivating the virus by raising the ambient temperature by heating with an air conditioner, and the effect of the virus cannot be achieved by heating the temperature.

Chinese stock market has opened 8.7% down trading will stop if it reaches 10%. Chinese government is putting a 150 billion into the economy.

There will be a knock on effect to other economies but the human impact is what matters most.

Not sure if you saw, but Israel was mentioned in an earlier article re: border closing iirc- That would be interesting to google more. Making note. I’m a little googled out at the moment.

ETA - Had to google NY one more time though:

CDC Testing Three Patients in NYC for Coronavirus: Health Officials

“Three people in New York City were tested for coronavirus after recent trips from mainland China, health officials announced late Sunday.

The city's health department announced a first patient on Saturday and two others late Sunday evening. As of 9:00 p.m. Sunday, testing for all three cases had not been completed; a process estimated to take 36-48 hours. “

We should be getting word on the first NY test sooner, MOO. That one wasn’t sounding too good, iirc.

Health Minister: Israel treating coronavirus with 'utmost severity'

''Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Saturday that it would be “impossible to completely prevent" the entry of the coronavirus into the country.
“We are not taking any unnecessary chances,” Netanyahu said.
“The virus is already found on five continents and in more than 25 countries. We are aware of the fact that it will be impossible to completely prevent the entry of the virus; therefore, we will be prepared in advance to deal with the virus after its first entry to Israel,” he said.
A statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office said: “The State of Israel has already taken preventive measures and was among the first countries that decided to restrict flights and land entry for those coming from China.”

This was an excellent and informative article.

"After city hospitals were overwhelmed by patients who sought coronavirus tests, local authorities this week announced hospitals would only give tests to those who showed severe symptoms and obtained a referral from smaller neighborhood clinics."

I saw a Chinese youtuber saying the same as in the above MSM. It would explain the slowing down of diagnosis from the initial trajectory. They simply aren't actually testing and diagnosing an enormous percentage of those who are sick. There is no telling how many really have this or how fast it's spreading. It was a PR issue for them.

And I feel that it's overwhelmingly that way for most governments. They worry more about panicking people. They worry more about affecting the economy or the stock market. They will worry about that and then when they are forced to deal with it they are left trying to cover their tracks. I do not trust our government a whole lot more than I trust the Chinese government. What's the point of all these governments barely keeping track of people, let alone tracking who they are exposed to until AFTER they get diagnosed?

So Wuhan farted around and worried about a Communist part affair first and then suddenly it's an epidemic and they have to quarantine millions of people who were given no chance to prepare. In fact they publicly castigated those who warned others and told everyone else to say nothing.

How do you feel your own government would handle this? Better? Or do you think they would downplay anything and everything till they had no choice to admit at the last minute it's really a threat?

Wuhan Coronavirus Looks Increasingly Like a Pandemic, Experts Say
Feb. 2, 2020
Updated 8:07 p.m. ET

“The Wuhan coronavirus spreading from China is now likely to become a pandemic that circles the globe, according to many of the world’s leading infectious disease experts.

The prospect is daunting. A pandemic — an ongoing epidemic on two or more continents — may well have global consequences, despite the extraordinary travel restrictions and quarantines now imposed by China and other countries, including the United States.

Scientists do not yet know how lethal the new coronavirus is, however, so there is uncertainty about how much damage a pandemic might cause. But there is growing consensus that the pathogen is readily transmitted between humans.

It’s very, very transmissible, and it almost certainly is going to be a pandemic,” said Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.

“But will it be catastrophic? I don’t know.”

In the last three weeks, the number of lab-confirmed cases has soared from about 50 in China to more than 17,000 in at least 23 countries; there have been more than 360 deaths.

But various epidemiological models estimate that the real number of cases is 100,000 or even more. While that expansion is not as rapid as that of flu or measles, it is an enormous leap beyond what virologists saw when SARS and MERS emerged.“

[...]

“The biggest uncertainty now, experts said, is how many people around the world will die. SARS killed about 10 percent of those who got it, and MERS now kills about one of three.”

How many people are cremated in china
"China cremates more people each year than any other country, reporting 4,534,000 cremations out of 9,348,453 deaths (a 48.50% rate) in 2008. The cremation rate was 45.6% for 2014 according to Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs."

Chinese funeral rituals - Wikipedia

"Different rituals are carried out in different parts of China, and many contemporary Chinese people carry out funerals according to various religious faiths such as Buddhism or Christianity. However, in general, the funeral ceremony itself is carried out over seven days, and mourners wear funerary dress according to their relationship to the deceased.[2]"

What you need to know about the Wuhan coronavirus

"According to the 2010 study "Effects of Air Temperature and Relative Humidity on Coronavirus Survival and Surfaces," by Lisa M. Casanova, et al., air temperature and relative humidity both impact the survival of other coronavirus strains on stainless steel.

The study found that the infectious virus could survive longer at lower temperatures and inactivation, or the point where the virus can no longer affect people, occurred more rapidly around room temperatures or warmer environments. In the lower temperatures, the virus could survive on a stainless steel surface from 5 to 28 days at all humidity levels. It took longer for inactivation to occur with a low relative humidity, or a drier environment. In short, the coronaviruses typically survive longer and stay active longer at lower temperatures in a dry environment."

Coronavirus Closes China to the World, Straining Global Economy
''SHANGHAI—China’s isolation amid the coronavirus outbreak, a rare freeze out for such a vital economic center, is rippling across the world.

Uncertainty over the virus—which has infected more than 14,500 people— has disrupted worldwide trade and supply chains, depressed asset prices, and forced multinational businesses to make hard decisions with limited information.

The U.S., and governments in Europe and Asia are enforcing new regulations to block visitors from China and screen returning U.S. citizens, while major airlines suspended flights to the country and companies pulled out expatriate executives.

“The calls that I get are: ‘We don’t know what to do. Our employees are panicking,’” says Rachel Conn, an employment attorney in San Francisco at Nixon Peabody LLP. “They’ve never dealt with a situation like this.”

Apple Inc. said this weekend it will close all of its stores and corporate offices in China through Feb. 9. The company, which employs 10,000 people in China, is also contending with work stoppages by factories that produce components for the products it sells around the world.

China’s health crisis is testing the entire global economic system, and placing unexpected and additional strain on the fragility of an extended boom. It’s also a test of China’s strength as a consumer—and the U.S.’s ability to step up as China lags.''

Toronto business owner offers good deal for good deed after coronavirus fear grows
''Sue, of Chinese descent, was born and raised in Toronto, so he was perplexed when the customer at The Flower Centre began to ask non-floral-related questions.

“She asked me if I had been to Wuhan. Of course, I said no. And then she asked me, ‘has any of my family been there? Has anyone travelled there and come back recently?’ And I said no, we’re all here in Toronto.''

''When the Global News story of Sue’s interaction with his customer was shared to Facebook groups in the city’s Beaches area, David Brown, owner of “Fearless Meats” on Kingston Road, just a few blocks from Sue’s shop, saw the post and responded with a “fearless” idea.

“Anybody that goes into Andy’s store Friday, Saturday or Sunday this week and buys — even if it’s just a petunia — they can come into our restaurant and exchange it for one of our 6 oz. certified Angus beef burgers,” said Brown.

Almost 2,000 Facebook likes later, Sue has had his busiest flower-selling weekend, surpassing Valentine’s Day.''
LOVE THIS!

With the basic cessation of trains, planes and automobiles, it would be interesting to note if there is a substantial improvement in air quality, and if so- could that help the ill to recover?

Okay, I might not have known earlier today who was playing in the Super Bowl, but at the start of the game, I decided to root for Kansas City and...Woot! Woot!

I don't want to get reported for OT, so I'll also say I'm closely watching the NYC cases as they hit close to home. Fingers crossed for false alarms.
