To be honest elle, Connie and Marty were always my #1 suspects in Haleigh's disappearance. From the things Marty has said about RC "stealing" Haleigh from him and Connie and that they raised Haleigh, and then he also trashed CS to Cobra and everyone else in that recording, I think he has the motive and means to take Haleigh. Then he, Connie and Ruby all up and move to rural Kentucky, it sets off red flags for me.

I agree it is strange for Connie to be "questioning" Jr. about the events of that night. I think she wanted to see if he could identify this man in black as Marty. IMO. I really believe that Marty wanted CS to have custody so he and Connie could take and raise Haleigh. I think he knew she would not object, but they couldn't even get her to show up to the hearing and when she did, custody was given to RC. So that route was out. They hired Cobra and Cobra brought in KP to obtain custody of Jr. Which I think they thought would be a snap w/ Haleigh abducted on RC's watch. Well, that didn't happen. I really think if it had Haleigh would have shown up somewhere before now and then in their mind she would have been awarded to CS also. But things have fallen apart and MS, Connie and RK are in Kentucky, wondering WTH to do. IMO. This is a partial theory of mine.

You will have to ask them that question. If anyone knew the answer to that she wouldn't be missing anymore.

Well, actually that link shows that MARIE says Connie and Crystal....as far as she knows. Hardly a resounding statement.

Debs, I actually found the statement that the man in black story originated with Connie Sheffield, Marie gave us that information. Not GGS. If you have something from GGS stating that she heard the story from JR about the man in black I would be grateful if you could post it. Marie herself was told by Connie and Marie told NG what Connie said.

I think it is very important though to consider the source of the whole man in black statement. Why would Connie talk with JR about what he saw that night? Not appropriate in my opinion. Crystal said that Connie told her about the man in black. I always thought that Marie and Crystal were the source of the man in black story, and I thought that Marie took pictures of Haleigh after the playground incident.

Now it is confirmed that Connie was also the one who took the pictures of Haleigh after the playground incident, not Marie. I think it goes towards saying that Connie always felt that the children belonged with Crystal instead of Ronald and taking those pictures and saving them as ammunition to be used in the future might be considered advanced planning. JMO

They are relying on a four-year-old, Haleigh's little brother, Ronald Junior, for help.
"He was asleep. I got there 10 minutes after we noticed she was gone. I had Junior, he said he didn't know anything...said he was asleep," Haleigh's great grandmother, Annette Sykes, told First Coast News on Monday.
Detectives have talked to the child. Relatives on both sides say he told police he saw a man in a ski mask come in their trailer and leave with his big sister.
"They questioned Junior. I asked them (police) about it. They couldn't tell me anything other than he's a little child. He was questioned and the story went from one thing to another and another," says Sykes."

CONNIE SHEFFIELD: No, just you know, when you`re up here and you have so many people coming up offering their condolences, you don`t know if the person who took Haleigh might be hugging your neck or shaking your hand, if it`s someone locally in this area. So I was concerned for all the children here. There were several kids.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: So there`s a sense of palpable fear.

CONNIE SHEFFIELD: Yes, there is a fear. I fear for my son, all of the children. I told parents, you know, try to keep them close by in a group, because until we know all the answers, that is the fear.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: I can totally relate to that, and I`ve covered other cases where a child has gone missing, and fear swept through the entire neighborhood. When people don`t have answers, obviously, if they have children their imaginations are going to run wild and they`re going to be afraid.

So you`re saying that people in that community are keeping their children indoors, and you and other parents are keeping close watch on these children because you`re scared?

CONNIE SHEFFIELD: Yes. I noticed several parents picking their children up on golf carts from the bus stop, seeing to it that there was someone there, whether it was a mother or a father, aunt or an uncle, to pick up the children.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: What bothers you most about this perplexing case? We -- we are all mystified. How did this child disappear out of a double-wide trailer with two other people asleep? The little boy, Ron Jr., has reportedly said that a man in black -- dressed in black took him away. Have you heard that from his lips, and what are your thoughts on all of this, this mystery?

CONNIE SHEFFIELD: The day it happened he was allowed to walk up to where we were all located, and I think that`s more or less the mind of a child when speaking to find some comfort in where his sister may have gone because the children are afraid themselves.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Are you saying you don`t believe that a man in black went in there -- in other words, you think that this is a child`s imagination?

CONNIE SHEFFIELD: I would. That`s what I think, because my son himself there again. When we took him home he drew pictures about boats and helicopters. And him and R.J. are closely related in age, so I can see where a child would want to find reasoning to all this.
