Which one was shot? The guy on the left or right? TIA
If I understand correctly, the one to which the red arrow is pointing in the image I posted, who also was the only agent to return fire aimed at the perp.

Thank you, just trying to help.👍

Everyone wearing the vests with POLICE on them are Secret Service, as @PrairieWind has posted. I assume the gentleman to the far right, wearing a black suit is also an agent.
Given the earpiece, his head on a swivel and being armed (and how quickly he drew), I suspect you are correct.

Yes, he looks like the typical SS agent. When the shooting started, he sort of scrunched down and held his side. I thought it looked like he had been shot.

Now that that's cleared up, I'll await the final report and analysis. Hopefully, the SS and everyone else can come up with a better plan for this location. I've never been to that hotel, but if it's like some of the other DC hotels used for conventions, etc. they are large, sprawling structures with mazes of hallways, etc.

Thanks for the correction and clarification, INfisherman!

I could be wrong but the service weapon he drew looked like it may be a very small fully automatic or one with a very oversized clip - not something police, et. al. typically carry. Also, that’s the traditional "dress/uniform" most of us probably saw on TV growing up.

Over the years, I've volunteered at a few presidential events and that's all I've seen them wear. I always wondered if it was uncomfortable clothing to wear when they have to be running around, doing things. They're always moving, always looking around, talking to each other and to supervisors. Usually an advance team sets all of this security up days ahead of he event.

I would be shocked if they don’t have plainclothes agents around elsewhere, likely closer to the important folks they’re protecting. The ones about which we don’t hear or notice. Utter speculation on my part. Maybe they feel the traditional suit sends a message to would-be perps with ill intent.

The plain clothed officer does react as if he is hit. Did he also absorb a shot from the shot gun?

I don't think it should matter whether you are on the left or right or whatever, the security at this event was terrible. The President, VP and most of the US leadership is in a room next door. A dozen officers in view and it seems only two really are on the ball at all. The stairways are unsecured, elevators unsecured, magnetometers not working. I recognize that many of these folks weren't being paid, but still.......

I suspect this incident, like the previous one, was plagued by last minute changes and poor planning
I didn't hear anyone making this claim, where is the information/basis for this?
The WH Correspondents Dinner never had that many members of the Administration there before. It’s an event for journalists, not politicians.
I don't think you have any information to support your statements. Again, the event is in fact for BOTH the politicians and the press. I have previously replied to your claims that the president is not usually expected to attend, with the history and facts about this event, starting with your claims that President Trump wasn't suppose to sit at the head table.
  • First Presidential Attendance: In 1924, Calvin Coolidge became the first sitting president to attend, setting a precedent of presidential attendance.

My assumption is Trump wanted everyone there. The WH Correspondents Dinner never had that many members of the Administration there before. It’s an event for journalists, not politicians. It seemed very unusual. I don’t watch it every year, but I do most. It’s impossible to predict if Trump will make changes back to standard safety protocol. He usually prefers to ignore established rules and safety measures.
Why did the WHC invite all those admin members? They control the invitations, not the WH.

6 Supreme Court justices attending is not normal

That’s simply not true. imo You may be confused with something else.

All 6 conservative judges, sure seems odd
Do you have a source? I haven’t been able to find anything showing that even a single Supreme Court Justice attended.

If there’s no source, I’m calling it false. moo

Interesting image of the assailant walking stiffly with his trenchcoat on and likely with his shotgun underneath, and GH's side-by-side comparison of his body movements before he appears wearing the trenchcoat walking the same hallway.
