Decorah, IA - Bald Eagle Cam: Watch the babies! #2

  • #561
I'm looking at the cam ... but it seems to have moved (?)

either that or parent has moved farther back in nest

babies getting fed now

I had a moment of panic earlier when I couldn't see them & I'm glad I didn't post about it 'cause they're all there and eating now

Sassy ate first, then Baby F. and Wobbles wobbled his way in front of Sassy, thus pushing Sass to the back and is getting his share

Thanks to all that have faithfully kept up with our little trio....been out for surgery for a week and believe me it is amazing to read all that transpired while being 'out of it'. Peeples and all others, glad you survived the strong storms. This forum is awesome!

I was so use to the other view, this angle is taking some getting use to. Maybe all of the winds changed it? But I still feel lucky being able to watch.

I can't believe how much these babies grow just in a day. I was in the chat on the ustream site earlier tonight and they had a discussion about the cameras and why it was a different angle but I missed it and couldn't find it when I went back to search for it but just catching the tail end it seemed as if one of the cameras may have messed up or something. Since Bob Anderson is local maybe he can readjust the views tomorrow for us. I miss being up close and personal to them also. They seem so far away today and tonight.

According to the RRP FB page, the problem with the one camera might have resulted from a poop shoot earlier today, LOL but then another comment stated it was due to the wind and rain. This apparently is the original camera that was placed in the tree previously and has a wide angle lens on it. Hopefully when the lens dries out on the other camera we will get our "bird's eye" view back.

Here's info from ustream about the 2 cams: "The main cam is automated and is trained on the nest. The other cam has pan-tilt-zoom capabilities (PTZ). At dark the main cam switches to infrared (invisible to the eagles) night-time view."

Was just checking out the RRP FB page and clicked on discussions and found the absolute funniest video of the "poop shoot." This is hilarious so I thought I'd share for those who were interested.

I just found this today! I've been deep in the Nancy Cooper murder trial. This is so fascinating!!! I've been stuck indoors with all the storms today and so have watched the babies and mom/dad a lot today. It's very captivating. I noticed earlier that it seemed the larger of the three was getting more food than the middle and baby. I worried about that!!

It always looks that way but they are getting their fair share. E3 has definitely learned to be front and center when it is time to eat.

Mom sleeping already tonight with her head tucked under her wing. Hope she rests well tonight after such a rough night last night.

Hooray Good camera is back on, just had a tour of the fish in the nest.

:great: :great: :great: :great: :great:
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I was afraid I would have too much time on my hands and have to get caught up on werk I have let go.

I noticed the eaglets were peering out from Mom this morning looking around as if they noticed their surroundings for the first time. It was so sweet. Complete couriosity, then a turn, aim and PS! LOL

All three lined up perfectly for this feeding and pretty much taking turns. You are right Sterling, they do seem to be more aware of their surrounding, I hope that doesn't make them too curious to get near the edge

Mom just brought in a pile of stuff for the nest. Dad will stroke when he gets back and it's so messy. He will have to spend his time cleaning it up. I guess they are getting ready for tonight since there's another chance of rain/snow with a low of 32. These are the most awesome parents.

They're both feeding them. My goodness they are getting big.

They are getting so big!!! I love my favorite image from today - they are sleeping, but Mom is still watching over them. Temp was 52 degrees, and the wind seems normal for a change. I can't wait to see them fly!!!

It seems like a pleasant night for them so far. Did anyone happen to catch the cam earlier when E1 was stretching with his not so little foot? It was so precious. His feet are much bigger than he is right now and he has lots of growing to do to catch up with them. Someone in the chat said they should name him Bozo.

I have tons more that I just posted. I'll have to organize them tomorrow. It's amazing looking back on some of the pictures taken when E3 was just 2 days old. It makes you appreciate how much they really have grown.
