Decorah, IA - Bald Eagle Cam: Watch the babies! #2

  • #961
Checking in today and one of the eaglets looks really a lot darker than the other two. I didn't notice this yesterday. Anyone else notice it and why is that? I still can't believe how huge they are.

I assume it is because he is loosing his soft gray downy feathers, and gettinig his big-boy feathers. They really are growing SO fast, it is amazing to me!!! I am glad the sheriff responded. I just saw a white van pull over on the road and they must have been watching them. It always worries me when I see something like that, but I am sure most people are probably as in love with them as we are.

I get worried about that too. I can just see some freak coming and shooting one of them. I know that's crazy but I wouldn't put it past some crazy loon!!

Yes indeed, there are some crazy people out there for sure.

Anyway, the feed is down right now. This is the first time since Monday that I was able to watch for a while but it's just my luck that it's down. I still can't believe how much the babies have changed over the course of a month. Finally's 1 month old birthday is tomorrow.

Live feed is back up. Good grief, they grew another foot overnight!!!!!

E2 and E3 are helping themselves to an early lunch today. E1 is sleeping soundly.

Will someone please tell Eagle Mom that she is blocking my view! I finally had a chance to log on and I cannot see the baby E's.

Hello everyone and thanks for the updates!

Yea! She moved and I see all three. I can drive home now to my computerless house....

From RRP FB this morning....

Good morning everyone. The other camera (FOV - field of view camera) is still not cleaned off yet, so they are not able to use it. With a combination of some eaglet poop and the hot sun baking it on the lens on that camera, it may take a bit longer to resolve. We just have to wait for mother nature to help out for both cameras. Gotta love these eaglets, but unfortunately they have added some spots to the viewing. :)

Man those little suckers are growing up fast!

As bad as I hate the babies to get wet, I sure wish it would rain so the cameras can be cleaned up. I hate this view we are having to watch right now.

um why am I only seeing two? Am I on the wrong eagles nest??

ETA whew, looking at Duke, bout had a heart attack!

I just tried both links that I have and am not getting anything. Maybe they are working on something?

Got it now, my IPS having problems...

Oh my goodness! Just saw them for the first time since Friday. They are so big, dark and WET! I cannot tell which one is which! Glad to see all three :)

Wow, the babies are definitely growing up. What happened to the little cotton ball looking things just a few short weeks ago? They have grown so much and are at the point right now where they are so ugly they're cute!!

I feel so neglectful of our beautiful little Eagle family. I haven't watched but bits and pieces for the last couple of days, but I have been reading regularly at RRP FB to make sure that they are all safe and sound. I still can't believe how fast they are growing up.

Thanks from me too. I check in on the nest several times a day. They are like toddlers walking around that nest, a little unsteady at times, and they get so close to the edge it makes me nervous. I have so enjoyed this family and learned so much about eagles.

My computer has been down the past week or so and I have suffered withdrawals from watching the eagle family. I just checked the nest and I see only two eaglets. Did one fly already?

Thank you for any updates.
