Was this guy employed anywhere?

Where are you guys getting that the mother stated anything about her son's mental condition? I have been reading all day and can't find that. The only thing I read about her was that she confirmed that the news media that contacted her had reached the correct person.

I speculated after it came out that he didn't have a criminal record that his mom may have known of some mental health issues in response to her reaction.

Yeah, I'm looking for that, too.

Whoa: No one's saying unattractive or fat or dirty people are inherently evil or that blank stares mean blank souls.

Listen, IMO, appearances of killers or people who do horrific things are very, very important. I have been taught since I was small to use and hone my powers of observation. IMO, everyone should.

There is, often, a common "look" or similarities in expression, to people who do things like this. There is, often, a common look or similarities in expression to people who are evil or people who have suffered a psychotic break, have been brainwashed or whatever. I think conversation about that look is important because if you can catalogue it and file it away, if you ever notice that look in a family member or friend who is suddenly acting differently or in a stranger who is acting oddly, you may be able to do something that could save yourself or the person you know.

I can't say if this person is sane or not, or just evil, but something in his eyes and smile looks a bit like Jared Loughner to me.

Does that mean that everyone who suffers from a mental issue has a look? Of course not. Does that mean that "normal"-looking people can't be killers, or can't be evil? Of course not. But appearances can tell us a lot. And those trained in observation, like the Israeli forces at the airport and air marshals, well know that.

That is all very true and none of this or what I said was meant to offend anyone, but some of us have been trained to be acutely aware of our surrounding, in my case the Marines trained me during our time in Iraq to beware of that certain look, that doesnt mean everyone who looks a little off is a killer or a bad person but if you have been trained properly for whatever reason or purpose you can spot it pretty close to 7 times out of 10.

Lets just say you know it when you see it.

It was very thoroughly planned. He created chemical bombs in his apartment, that alone took time and planning.

Yes, absolutely! But, I was wondering about gaining access to the inside of the theatre.

If he acted alone, which authorities believe, all he did was buy a ticket and get in, then go to the door and prop it open. Not really a huge plan, I think someone uses those doors every time I go to the theaters nowadays.

omg... was he trying to lure people to the apartment to set off the bombs?

So strange, right! It apparently looped for an hour, no idea why.

Strange that LE is not releasing the mug shot. All the references to the "joker". The joker had green hair - not red. Plus, I don't think colored hair would cause LE to NOT release the mug shot.

I'm thinking - and this is JMHO - but wondering if he was wearing "joker" make-up. Think Heath Ledger in the "why so serious" pictures.

No one in the theater saw his face - gas mask and all. He surrendered in the parking lot - so maybe LE saw the make-up? Would they make him wash his face before taking a mug shot? If they did - maybe all the make-up didn't wash off - left stains or outlines? I just don't understand why they are holding on to that mug shot. And all the above is just my speculation.

The only look in a person that has a mental disorder that i can think of is a flat affect which is seen in schizophrenia, etc. It is a look of no emotion, etc. He does not have a flat affect.

however this picture could have been taken before the disease developed, if he does in fact have this disease, which this is not known.

Yeah, I am very curious on why they don't want that picture released.

When one of his neighbors from California was interviewed he said.........

He couldn't find a job so he went back to school.

(For the person asking about a job)

The reporter on CNN just made reference to the unfounded rumor of the theater patron opening the emergency room door....

that is FALSE according to investigators.

This mass murderer acted alone.

Instinct is very powerful. If I had seen this guy in public (looking like the med school pic), I'd have avoided him. Just like sometimes I will go into the grocery store and get a bad feeling from someone and avoid them.

I don't care if it isn't fair to assess someone based on how they look. When it comes to the safety of myself and my children, too bad for someone else's hurt feelings.
