"Our hearts go out to those who were involved in this tragedy and to the family and friends of those involved. We ask that the media respect our privacy during this difficult time. Our family is cooperating with authorities in both San Diego, California, and Aurora, Colorado. We are still trying to process this information and we appreciate that people will respect our privacy."

Instinct is very powerful. If I had seen this guy in public (looking like the med school pic), I'd have avoided him. Just like sometimes I will go into the grocery store and get a bad feeling from someone and avoid them.

I don't care if it isn't fair to assess someone based on how they look. When it comes to the safety of myself and my children, too bad for someone else's hurt feelings.

Some folks will deny it all day along but everyone and I mean everyone, one way or another, judges others by how they look and many may not even be aware that they do it.

Good points BTW, when I saw his pic my alarm went off, I just see something there that makes me proceed with caution.

I'd say the mugshot isn't being released because of the police "detaining" him. They don't want any injuries to show. That happens quite often here where I live.

His eyes are off, looks like he has a lazy right eye. He also seems to have what is called the "thousand yard stare" you see in brainwashed cult members and the like, it is also common with people who have serious mentall illness or psychotic breaks.

Agree with Paximus. When I first saw this photo on CNN HLN, I thought it was an artists rendering like a courtroom sketch. Took me a moment to discern it was an actual photo. The eyes and 'grin/smirk' are not 'normal', just opinion....

Strange that LE is not releasing the mug shot. All the references to the "joker". The joker had green hair - not red. Plus, I don't think colored hair would cause LE to NOT release the mug shot.

I'm thinking - and this is JMHO - but wondering if he was wearing "joker" make-up. Think Heath Ledger in the "why so serious" pictures.

No one in the theater saw his face - gas mask and all. He surrendered in the parking lot - so maybe LE saw the make-up? Would they make him wash his face before taking a mug shot? If they did - maybe all the make-up didn't wash off - left stains or outlines? I just don't understand why they are holding on to that mug shot. And all the above is just my speculation.

WOO, the thought has crossed my mind that if this dude fancies himself as a comic book villian, the JOKER, then the elaborate booby trap at his apt may be a ruse.

I am glad to hear LE is checking out the UC depts that he had access to.

The reporter on CNN just made reference to the unfounded rumor of the theater patron opening the emergency room door....

that is FALSE according to investigators.

This mass murderer acted alone.

According to KUSA just now, police have not said how he got in the theater.

He would have had to go into the theater to prop open the emergency exit. I dont believe you can open them from the outside. When I was in high school some of my friends would prop it open to sneak others in, you had to prop it inside. Either he went in there looking like that and did it then went outside and entered through the emergency exit or else someone propped it open for him. Only 2 options IMO.

Also, it disturbs me that the mother made the statements she did that they had the right person. How does she know this? Did she have info before and was not forthcoming????

What a POC I can't believe this happened. I was looking at moving to Aurora a few weeks back and I'm not blaming the town but this just makes me sick at the thought. My middle dd went to the premere last night in Palm Harbor where we live,what if we had moved up there and she'd gone??? My MIL is 30 min from Aurora and goes there frequently to see plays and stuff with her friends. She could have been there! Sorry if Im rambling but its so upsetting that this POC did this!

Sorry scan reading at work have not had time to read everything. Read an article earler about one of the victims/ She had survived the Shooting in Toronto earlier this year as she told a freind she had a bad feeling and left the food court as the shots were being fired.
And how ironic is it she dies in this one. Her friend said after Toronto she said Guess it was not our time to go.
My prayers go out to the families of the victims and the ones fighting for their lives.
Once again a senseless act that really makes me wonder. What in the HECK is going on in this world.

He is a guy who was at the theater a parent has been looking for.

The dad cannot find any info on him and so several of the news outlets are getting the word out cause the poor man can't find. Very said picture of the Dad up stream.

He can be booked before going to court (on Monday). LE didn't say there was no booking photo, just that they weren't releasing it right now.

What you're inferring here is police brutality and they have already released their report that the gunman did not resist arrest.

The mugshot isn't going to change whether or not they release it now or later and the public isn't who the police would be concerned with if the gunman shows wounds of brutality. His attorney would be the one of importance.

Yes, when you are booked into a jail, they take a mug shot, fingerprints, etc. You aren't formally charged until you go in front of a judge, which is generally the next week day morning.
