Interestingly, the initials for blindsided are "BS".

In my opinion, maybe Mark wanted to convince LE that Dylan was texting. Mark could not come out and say what device Dylan was using because the last message may have not been from the iPod touch or phone. The last communication may not have been typed by Dylan and may have been from Mark's laptop.

IIRC, the first thing we ever heard out of MR's mouth right after Dylan disappeared was something along the lines of "the problem is my ex wife...". I remember we were all shocked, like REALLY? That's your biggest problem?

I am curious about the comments Lisa Crombie made about Dylan being a troubled teen and the fact no fire trucks came down the Mountain Wednesday evening.

How did she know Dylan was troubled and what would it have meant if fire trucks came down the mountain? TIA

This came from reporter Kevin Torres twitter. He has been covering this case since Dec and spoke with Bender on the day the remains were discovered.

TY!!! This info clears up the confusion regarding whether or not LE asked the family to not talk to the media.

BBM: It's not that he said anything before other family members, it's that he is giving out information that LE might want to be kept quiet. If one assumes that the perp is NOT Mark, then he has just given out information that could jeopardize the case against whomever committed the act. A parent should not want to jeopardize a case against whomever killed their son, and if told not to talk to media, should not talk to media, even if it might have been for only a certain amount of time (I have no knowledge of that, that is just a possibility).

After MR immediately gave media interviews, divulging certain grisly details regarding poor Dylan's remains, he'd already let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. Anything EH said a couple of days afterward (regarding her son's remains) was, IMO, in response to what MR had already said to the media.

I was absolutely stunned when I read/heard MR's recent interviews. It was if he couldn't wait to talk about it (despite LE's admonition to not talk about it to the media). Hearing/reading MR's comments, it was as if he was talking about a complete stranger - not his precious son, whose tragic, scattered bones had just been found.

One would think that if MR truly cared about protecting the investigation, that he would not have gone on an interview blitz, sharing details with the public that not even LE had shared. Based on various articles I've read, LE had only divulged that some bones (not specified) & other items (again, not specified) had been found. IIRC, it was MR who provided the unsettling details regarding what searchers had found. I could be mistaken, but that's what I remember reading/hearing.

Based on MR's recent statements/actions, I'm left with only one conclusion: It appears that MR doesn't care about protecting the investigation. It appears that MR is only interested in trying to protect himself, regardless of how it may affect the ongoing investigation of his little boy's murder. MOO

MR claims he's only interested in "the truth". IMO, if that were true, he would have kept his mouth shut about what LE had shared with him, especially since LE asked him to not talk to the media about it. It seems to me that MR wanted that information out there for a reason, and I believe the reason is more than likely a self-serving one.

And right around the same time he said that when he told her Dylan was missing Elaine " made it more than it needed to be' or something like that.

Katydid23, I really believe Dylan was blindsided because he didn't know why his father wouldn't drive him to Ryan's Sunday evening and that was the last time Dylan used his cell phone.

JMO - I think MR said something in the initial interview with LE that indicated texting later than 8 pm. But at that time all LE had was Elaine's phone info, showing texting stopped at 8. Later in interviews with RN they saw that texts were still coming to RN after 8. Maybe those texts after 8 were made by Dylan, maybe not. I think they are key. Coupled with MR's statement in the uncut interview with Melissa B., (paraphrasing) 'His friends were trying to text him...,' my thinking is that something happened and MR made the texts after 8. Again just my own theory.

ETA: Also theorizing that the texts after 8 probably do not sound like something Dylan said. Which could cause some debate between LE and MR as well. LE may be hammering MR on this.

I'm responding to my own post...LOL..sigh...

I must be behind the information curve. Can someone help me catch up. Didn't Mark himself say he was meeting with LE on Tuesday? Then, there was a "rumor" that LE cancelled the Tuesday meeting.

Did anyone else say anything about MR's meeting.

I'll go back to my corner now...just wondering.

I'm not finding much other info about the meeting or which exact day it was. This link (article dated June 26) has MR stating that both he and ER have been asked by LE to go to Durango to talk about developments in the case.

Immediately after Dylan went missing, MR kept insisting that LE must search Vallecito Reservoir. MR kept talking about a missing fishing pole (that has yet to be located).

In a BTR interview, MR kept insisting that Dylan could be anywhere, including Mexico, Germany, or Australia.

MR said it was "stupid" to search Middle Mountain (where Dylan's remains & other evidence were ultimately found).

Right before the recent search (that culminated in Dylan's remains being found), MR left town to supposedly go on a crusade of the lower 48 states to spread awareness of Dylan (IOW, look everywhere but out my back door).

IMO, I think for the past 7+ months MR has been trying to do his utmost to try to steer the investigation away from where Dylan's remains were found.

Then, after Dylan's remains (and other evidence) were found in the place that MR said was "stupid" to search, what does he do when LE asks that he not talk to media? Within hours, he goes on a media blitz revealing details of the remains & other evidence that LE shared with him. He asks LE to take him to the site, because he claims that he doesn't know the exact location (IMO, this was a self-serving statement/request).

After LE stated that this is now a homicide investigation, MR said: "They can have a homicide all they want to but if they feel like I had any involvement with it, then why am I standing on my front porch having this conversation with you?"

As many others have said, "Keep talking, Mark. Keep talking."

Like I told Dee10, I don't have a clue why the media does what they do. Plus I've been out of town for a few weeks and didn't even know that Dylan was found until I got home Monday night. I have not even come close to getting caught up in this case and I don't know what Mark has said let alone know what may have been edited. MOO.

Ranch, when you've caught up with things a bit, would you give us your thoughts on the search area compared with search areas when you were helping? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the latest developments overall. Thank you.

I don't believe Ranch is/was ever a searcher.
