"During her evidence to the panel of 11 jurors,
the girl said of the fatal attack:
'It felt like my entire mind shut down.
I just wasn't in control of my own body
– it was as if it was moving on its own'.
'It's as if my head was separated from my body
– as if it was two different parts'.
Asked by Ms Prior what she could hear,
the defendant answered:
'Voices in my head telling me that I am in danger.
Also at the same time I can't remember a lot of it – it's still hazy now'.
Describing the voice or voices,
the accused added:
'It was like a mix of a male voice and a female voice
and also a buzzing at the back of my head.
Noise just going through it'.
'I felt as if there was a path leading me somewhere
and my body was just following that path.
I only remember that my body just lunged forward'."
