I completely understand and I agree with you to a certain degree. While its obviously not their fault that they're here illegally (or that their parents are illegal), the fact remains that AMERICAN students should have first crack at the monies available from these scholarships. I'm in agreement that an educated immigrant is far more valuable to America than an uneducated immigrant, but American children should have first crack at any available funding from our government.
ESPECIALLY when that funding has been so drastically cut! My son just got into medical school. The colleges he applied to all took between 5-8 spots, and he applied to 5 of them. So in other words, he competed with THOUSANDS of students for 28 spots. He had to put his race as well as his sex on the applications. That PISSED(can we say pissed here?) him off!!! It did me too. Why should what race he was have to do with his qualifications!?!? But it did...it is all factored in!!!!! Same as with sex. The colleges have quotas. It SHOULDN'T be allowed. Admission should be based solely on merit. Like it or not...a WHITE MALE is one of the most discriminated people in the college or job market today. Hence Masterj, the comment .....*YAWN* I get tired of people "playing the race card"....it gets boring.

And so are most black people.

There's a black man at my work, he was hired to do another job and then couldn't handle it so they gave him a spot in my area. He makes $45k more than I do!

Real fair huh? Life's not fair, period.

I think that black men probably make more than women, white or black, in the same positions.

Agreed. I don't have children in college so I am not sure about the monies. Other people for sure know more about that then me. So definitely money should go first to American Citizens.

It is not just the money aspect...it is also the coveted positions like I was talking about in my previous post.

Is this "dummy hanging by a noose" halloween decoration only wrong if white people do it?
I don't know, but it is a theory I could test. Let me go ask my friends up and down the street and we could all hang out "test dummies"...then wait to see whose house gets egged the worst this Halloween. LOL (I won that contest last year!:D )

thank you !!! my sentiments exactly. glad to see i'm not the only one who feels this way! In fact i know i'm not.. there is a fast-growing movement of people who are getting really sick of this sh*t.. and we happen to be intelligent, educated, professional people... not some hillbillies living in a mountain cabin with a klansman uniform in the closet (another overused stereotype!). yes,,, the race card thing is SO pathetically old and tired and nobody wants to hear it anymore. why don't colleges have white student associations?? there is the black one, the hispanic one, etc. even in situations where we are quickly becoming (or already ARE) the minority.. we still get all this 'diversity and racism' sh*t shoved down our throats. but if you said 'i want to start a caucasian student's organization to honor my people, our culture and customs, and to deal with issues specifically relevant to US'.. you would get publicly stoned by an angry mob, blacklisted for life, and thrown out of school.

I see your point, the story above was about illegals getting money for college that was what I was commenting on. Yes white males are discriminated against in schools and jobs. Like I said before I think prejudice goes both ways. I hope I am not at my job just because I am a minority. When I was going to college, I worked at Bradley University in the cafeteria. I worked with a lot of people from Iran who were brought here on full scholarships and their housing and everything was paid for. They would straight up tell you they didn't like Americans. I remember thinking at the time why were they paying them to come here and go to school? I still am not sure of the answer. Don't get me wrong they were nice to me but they said they don't like America.

I forgot, some were also from Pakistan, they also stated the same.

I bet that MADE YOUR BLOOD BOIL!!! I know it would have made me upset. I didn't say or mean to imply that all minorities get their job that way. Talented minds come in all color!!!! What I mean is that RACE nor SEX should come into the picture when getting a good job or when applying to college or when being considered for government money or scholarship opportunities. All people should be considered on their merit, which has nothing to do with the color of skin or their sex.

Although as I have admitted my family's racists views have passed unto me, and I am devastated by my 10 year old's liking a black boy, I can't help but think of Creed's song lyrics from "what's this life for":

"We all live under the reign of ONE king..."

I don't WANT to be semi-racist but the constant playing of the race card and the affirmative action and all that make me furious...just like with this thread, although hanging is kinda synomynous with the past it's NOT like white people and/or other races have never been hanged.

exactly!! all sorts of people have been hanged throughout history for all sorts of right and wrong reasons. but suddenly,, the blacks now 'own' the noose. i can kinda see their point about the confederate flag..... but now this, among other things,, and what's next? it's gotten to the point where they censor our every word, move, and form of expression.. we have to keep our mouths shut.. meanwhile they continue to get bolder and cruder and more thuggish, walking around with pants hanging off their asses, and '🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬' this and '🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬' that... saying whatever they want in rap noise and considering it justified... cursing at us and threatening us,, just to see if we will cower in fear... because it's not socially acceptabe for us to stand up to them, so they take full advantage of that. well i am over it.

No, it ISN'T socaially acceptable, or at least it shouldn't be, try and stand up for urself (if you're black)and say this and you're a hero...if you are white though you are prejudiced...still trying to hold the black man down, after all these years... right?
I am SO over it just as you...it's not even (IMO) about being opressed against anymore, it's about how can I make the white man pay for the past REGARDLESS if we had any control over the slaves/slave days, which we didn't. but somehow I feel we are paying for it...

No. Still tacky, gory, and inappropriate.

IMHO, of course. Just call me Miss Manners. :innocent:

food for thought.

according to the US Population Survey and the National Committee on Pay Equity, the median salary for white women is 76.7% that of the median salary of white men.
For black men, it is 74.5% of white men.
For black women, it is 68.4% of white men.
For Hispanic men, it is 63.2% of white men.
For Hispanic women, it is 56.9% of white men.

OKay I'll throw fuel on the fire. Maybe they just don't like rap music and the hip hop culture. Don't they have a right to free speech? I personally know some older black folks in the South that hate how the new generation represent themselves for the most part. To be well-spoken and educated is to act too white etc. They fought for that right to equal education and the youngsters just throw it away.

I'm growing a little weary of people not being allowed to be "offensive" here. This is NOT what free speech is about. We have become so PC that we are trashing our constitution. I would never agree to people being offensive, but a hurt feeling or being offended should not be a crime and when brought to the public's attention, the greater majority will stigmatize those who have offended and they will suffer in other ways. We are teaching people to be so thin skinned and have the entitlement mentality. The government just LOVES that. More sheep to lead to the slaughter.

I would hope clear thinking people could rationalize that a Halloween decoration is not a threat to a certain race of people. Come on now. This is like the Ellen dog thing - everyone is thinking with their emotions and not their brains.

For the record I have black people in my family (along with Jewish people and a few Muslims) and I am not a racist. I do feel that Bill Cosby is on the right track and that freedom from oppression lies in taking advantages of this country and becoming all that you can be as a black American - ignore that chip on your shoulder for a moment and move forward.
