I don't think anyone is talking about herds of corpses attached to ventilators, it's one child. One, this one. Is this one gonna break the bank? Throw the entire already screwed up system into a downward ? Is someone else dying because this hospital has a ventilator shortage? No. No. No.

Let's be real about the chaos and "false hope" this family is creating. It could easily create herds. And with regard to "breaking the bank," when insurance STOPS paying, I want my tax dollars benefiting a LIVE BEING.

This is what I've gathered from all the posts here as well. Though I've seen it mentioned that the heart may still continue to beat for some time after the ventilator is shut off. I'm not sure how that works.

And they should because of the Post-Op care Jahi received. I do hope they file for malpractice against Children's. Children's Hospital has long rested upon their reputation- but they screwed up another tonsillectomy two years ago- I posted it a couple of pages back.

I think it is unfair at this point to declare CHO liable in any way in this case, until the hospital is free to release to the public its side. We truly do not know, other than what the family is claiming, what actually occurred with Jahi post-op.

There have been rumors aplenty about hamburgers and suctioning, etc. I have no reason to believe them anymore than I do that the hospital is at-fault.

I am quite sure a lawsuit will be filed and hopefully then we can learn what each side has to say and assess their takes accordingly.

I'm not sure it matters at this point if the hospital was negligent or not. She's been legally dead and slowly decomposing for over 2 weeks. An autopsy or examination will most likely be "skewed," if you will.....

I understand, and agree...sadly.

But this case is being muddied about what happened to 'cause' her BD, so that was the issue I was addressing in my post.

Also to note, the fund is almost at $6k as of this writing. What will the family do with the collected monies if Jahi is NOT transported anywhere? I doubt that the donors would care, but I find that omission in the Mother's statement more than troubling.

It's been put forth that this child can not be maintained on life support forever. The end will come soon. Why rush it? Have some compassion for the living that must come to grips with the death of their child.

Because there are people out there that have faith and truly believe in miracles and the power of prayer.
I do not.

I'm an atheist.

People pray for the sick and infirmed all the time... believing it can make a difference. I do my best to honor and show respect for that.
Unless you want to outlaw faith and belief in prayer and miracles ... You're barking up the wrong tree.

There is a possibility Jahi's condition is a result of negligence on the part of the hospital and that needs investigating. I think the tests given to her in order to evaluate brain activity need to be repeated by an independent physician, not just have an independent physician look at test results already performed by the hospital staff.

He means tube feeding- whether it is NG, G-Tube, or J-Tube. I'm not aware that a Death Certificate has been issued, her heart is still beating.

A judge has declared her deceased- as well as 6 or 7 medical doctors; good enough for me.

Spokesman is contradicting Children's Hospitals own declaration that the child is brain dead.

Is there any wonder why the parents don't trust the hospital????
