Something puzzles me, and I wonder how many others here have thought about this.

Assuming that NW is traveling back-and-forth from the long-term facility that is caring for Jahi, how is it that no one has reported having seen her at an airport, onboard aircraft, on a train, bus, etc.? Wouldn't someone recognize NW and alert the media? Are people so afraid of this family that they won't speak up about having seen NW or other family members who have visited Jahi? If NW is driving to the facility, has no one considered following her to find out where she goes? I can't fathom how someone hasn't tipped the media about Jahi's whereabouts or how her location remains a secret. :waitasec:

These poor children that have gone through this year like this, with the hope that their friend is going to wake up, grab her certificate and then meet them in middle school . . . is mental abuse, has to be.

It's something other than healthy, that's a fact!

For the McMath family to take their own family down this path is one thing, but to bring a school to it's knees that involves other's children, that's another.

in the bright side, the kids are have graduated and movedon to other another school (or schools) that have no connection to Jahi and at least they won't be faced with this craziness again. I would be fuming if I were a parent of one of the children graduating. I would be perfectly fine, empathetic and supportive of posthumous honorary diploma to a respectful family, but not the freak show that happened there.

Might I recommend another goal in the short term? How about weaning off the ventilator? That would be a pretty good goal. But maybe that's not as realistic as attending high school and college. Uff da.

Just so tragic....
this child has been dead since December.

Even if the brain death diagnosis turned out to be false and there was some brain activity and responsivity by now, after six months in a ventilator dependent coma her chances of recovering enough to attend college would be extremely low to non-existent.

A bit of magical thinking and defensive avoidance of reality I think. Barring a divine miracle, Jahi is still dead and not really better at all, but the mother desperately wants to think so. But it's a bit like wishing on a star, if you say your wish out loud it might not come true...and people might ask for videos and tests and proof and then it might turn out to be just wishful thinking after all.

I think the use of the past tense here (Jahi deserved the diploma, vs deserves it) might represent a tiny inkling of reality here.

If only that were true. When I checked the FB post, it used the present tense as well as does the quote in Global News. A more complete quote shows either that NW and OS are incredibly delusional or that they are exceptionally skilled at exaggeration.

“Jahi should be graduating from the 8th grade this month but it may not be possible for her to make it to the ceremony, as she is fighting to recover,” family members wrote on McMath’s Facebook page. “She deserves to receive the graduation certificate as she has completed most of the 8th grade work.”

I'd say that not being able to stand, sit, or breath without the aid of a ventilator would make her being unable to attend the ceremony a certainty. NW has the certificate, but I'd still quibble that to me "most" should be closer to 90% than 30%.

Or maybe when Jahi finally passes, her mom can procure the services of the mortician who did the lady who passed away recently in New Orleans and was embalmed sitting up at a table, wearing sunglasses and looking ready to party. I wondered the same thing, but the conclusion I reached is that there are some lines even sleazy media outlets won't cross. I think someone (including media) knows, but they would probably face considerable backlash for publishing the info. Like, the case does inspire morbid curiosity, because that's human nature, but at the same time no one really wants to think *that* much about where they're keeping the body. I think even an outlet like TMZ would do themselves more damage than the ad revenue would be worth, and would potentially have the McMath family (and lawyers and supporters) at their throats like the school does.

Just the conclusions I reached when pondering the same thing as you.

One of my fears for all neurologically impaired persons, even dead ones like Jahi ...that they are can easily be sexually abused while in the long term care of others.

Well, maybe it's just me, but if you're under investigation by the state medical board, shouldn't you disclose that to any new patients? Wouldn't that be the ETHICAL way to proceed?

Well, maybe you shouldn't see patients at all, or consult on new ones, if you've been fired for having sex with a patient multiple times in the clinic, AND you're under investigation by the state medical board. Maybe you should just say "no" to pediatric consultations, at that point? Hmm?

Well, in case they're reading here I'm sorry if my bringing it up in this thread upset the family (I guess it probably wouldn't be the first time something in this thread upset them huh?) but I'm sure no one meant to imply that Jahi had been raped by this guy. The news made it very clear the story was about someone who was 20 years older, still alive and able to complain.

It was discussed in the context of that Fellus's unethical sexual predatory behavior might explain why he couldn't hold his previous jobs and an additional concern is that an unethical doctor who is no stranger to sexually abusing his patients may not be any more ethical when it comes to promising the cure to desperate families of brain dead and comatose people.

If you venture outside the accepted medical science (that says brain dead is dead, for instance) and seek help from snake oil salesmen (who say their vitamins can raise the dead, for instance) you're going to meet unethical people and if you go public about it people will talk about it. Just the way it is.

Because they did, and all declared her DEAD. Sure Mrs. NW won't have them 'unethical quacks' anywhere close her very very alive and improving daughter :floorlaugh:
