How did he bypass the locked doors and gates? (This is a rhetorical question and not directed at you, popsicle)

Zachary Cruz, 18, told deputies he skateboarded through the grounds of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School because he wanted to “reflect on the school shooting and soak it in,” according to his arrest report. He allegedly bypassed the campus’s locked doors and gates despite previous warnings by school officials to stay off the property, officials said.

I don't even know what to say about him going to the school.
I can totally understand wanting to go to that location.
I can't understand breaking in to do so.
I'm just too much of a rule follower I guess.

And he is definitely carrying a lot of guilt. He said in an article he wished he would have been nicer to his brother. I was kind of annoyed that the paper put it off on him because it wasn't his fault. I would predict him to harm himself before I would predict him to harm others. I think he feels some responsibility for what happened. And he doesn't have anyone healthy to tell him otherwise and give him loving unselfish support. I hope they court order a guardian that is not a friend.

He is now an adult. Court isn't going to order him a guardian.

Arrest info:

I wonder if he is still living with Deschamps. ?? Someone gave him a ride to the school, if he is- She lives in the
next county north, not exactly in the neighborhood. Lantana to Parkland is 30 miles.

Hate to see that he could now have an arrest record. Judge could dismiss.
He definitely needs some help and guidance during these times. He's all alone in this world.

It's possible he has his mom's car tha was mentioned as being the only asset to her estate. His bond was only $25, can a person bond themself out? I feel so bad for him. It is not his fault what his brother did, and as far as I know he was never in trouble before this. He lost his father at a very young age, lost his mother at 17. Then his brother commits mass murder. How does he even bounce back from this if he does not have a support system? Since he is over 18 can he get mental health through the state?

I would hope the judge in this case would order him to get counseling and put him on probation and then erase his
record. Another 'lost soul' out there in this world.

There is no reason for him to be showing up the school where he already has been told not to show up. There are students there who have been traumatized by what his brother did, now they have to see him there?

This article has a little more detail.
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/b...hary-cruz-trespass-arrest-20180319-story.html
It says the gates were unlocked and open because it was after school and after school activities were going on.

Thank you for the article.

The article says there was no breach of security bc the gates are open after hours so kids can go in and out, but the gates are locked during the day. I’m shocked that after what happened on feb 14, they don’t have gates locked at all times, and if they have to leave one gate open after school which is understandable, I would have expected that they had a security guard manning that entrance. So kids lives aren’t as valuable during after school activities?

I am not concerned about his record being erased. In fact if he were to get a record, at least he wouldn't be able to purchase assault weapons.

How are they going to let large number of students in and out if they keep gates locked in at all times? It's a school.

As I said, leave a gate open and that’s the gate to enter and exit from, and have it manned with a security guard.

It's a treaspassing charge? At worst he will pay a very small fine. But I would think the most crappy attorney could beat it, considering the school grounds are open to the public.

"When the shooting took place, our school resource officer, who was stationed inside the school, was alerted to the event and the shots being fired. He pursued the shooter and engaged the shooter, during which that engagement he fired a round at the shooter," Cameron said.

This is what these officers are trained to do. :twocents:

A timely example for what didn’t happen at SDHS with Officer Peterson-WOW! I would be so upset about this factor as well if I were one of the parents. This needs to stack up in the community outrage category.

What does he stand to be charged with in the investigation?

Awful! Its not like he has anyone to fall back on. He is literally an orphaned adult with no life coping skills to speak of. Rocxy isn’t a role model-IMO.

Would they have served him with a no trespassing order? How can he be arrested without some sort of served documented order? I agree 100% that he should be nowhere close to the school but what were the procedural actions?

1:40 p.m.

A judge has set bond at $500,000 for the younger brother of suspected school shooter Nikolas Cruz after he was arrested for trespassing at the Florida high school where 17 people were gunned down.

He is being held in the same jail where his 19-year-old brother is.
