Even when on neighborhood watch, he is still a private person IMO with no authority. Subject to the same laws.
I agree and if he was defending himself after being attacked he was likely within his rights to shoot.

That's my fear as well.
Dr King staged many of themSitting in traffic and protesting in other ways that might break ordinances, etc. is certainly not the same thing as inciting a "non-peaceful" event, such as a riot, as has been implied here. People may be arrested for these actions, but that does not make them violent.
So I want to see pictures that the police took of GZ that night showing lacerations, bruising, red marks, blood. Show us some evidence of that![/QUOTE]

Sorry, a dark mark on the TOP of his head doesn't match the description of the beating he took. It doesn't even look like a wound. If the police had photos of a beaten up GZ they would have released them to quell some of this tension and show that he was defending himself. They have not done so. Not to mention, Trayvon's body was found face down in the grass, facing away from the sidewalk - it doesn't add up.
Also - GZ was not taken to the hospital - a head bashing into the sidewalk? They would have taken him in an ambulance, whether he wanted to go or not. He could have died from something like that. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
pinkflamingo said:Yes, it's called reverse racism. Did you read that article about the black boys lighting the white boy on fire and telling him that this is what he deserves white boy? Racism died 50 years ago as far as I am concerned. We have a black president in office. GZ was not white either~!
What racially derisive language has Sharpton or Jackson used in this case?
And it may not matter that Zimmerman is not the son of a lieutenant on the force. Skin color, given the racial history of the region, is what the issue is. Had Collison struck a white dude in that manner, it is likely there would have been an arrest much faster. IMO.
Jesse Jackson is a disciple of MLK, was there when he was killed. His rhetoric is no different. The vast majority of the country in the 1960's did not think MLK was for harmony, which is why he was gunned down. What makes Jesse Jackson any more of a divider than MLK?
You don't consider
"Targeting, arresting, convicting blacks and ultimately killing us is big business."
"Blacks are under attack."
to be racially derisive? You don't think those quotes are solely meant to inflame and provoke? Killing black people is big business. Right.

I have lived through riots, all of which began as peaceful civil disobedience. I hope I am wrong. But they are bussing in people from across the country to march on the police station. There is going to be a lot of heightened emotions and anger, some of it unwarranted, imo. Deja Vu.

Not sure if you're saying it shows evidence of injury or doesn't show it.
Personally I don't think it is clear enough to make a determination either way.

First let me say, I'm on a cell using Tapatalk and it's really hard for me to read, follow, and respond to multi quotes. I cant see the part addressed to me while I'm typing my response. So if I seem to ignore portions, please know I did not. I read your entire post and I appreciate you taking time to "talk" to me here at WS.
Ok, disclaimer done.
I know the difficulties black people have faced in this country. I KNOW the heartache, struggles, sacrifice, and loss they have endured.
I get that. And I totally sympathize.
As an aside, my "idol" growing up was Harriet Tubman. I was obsessed with reading anything about her I could get my hands on.
Now, I was a little white girl in the deep south. So, I'm sure some people thought I was nuts. Lol
I'm not a racist. I HATE all forms of racism.
I believe everyone should be equal. Skin color should never matter.
I do think THIS case, as far as GZ is concerned is not a racial case.
LE??? Maybe. I just don't know.
But it really rubs me the wrong way when people call GZ a racist because we don't have any information that says that.I'm sure you addresses more than this in your post. Sorry if I missed anything.
"Civil Disobedience", as in Henry David Thoreau, not exactly a poster child of violence. Civil disobedience is viewed as the conscientious objection to laws which are manifestly unjust and offend the conscience. Hence, the acts of "unlawfulness" practiced during the civil rights movement. I don't find those frightening in the least, women not sitting in the back of the bus which the law demanded, black people sitting at whites only lunch counters, that is the face of American civil disobedience.
Regardless of whether you agree with my assertion or not, the next question is, is this the proper venue to address this? He's latching onto this event for his own agenda. As I stated before, it doesn't exactly seem like his top priority is getting justice for the Martin family. No, not at all.

I also think he's right. The truth is the truth. The prison-industrial complex is supported by the arrest and conviction of blacks. It would not survive without it.
Still, the big question remains, who initiated contact?
Well, I really hope this weekend's demonstrations are peaceful. I'm literally 5 minutes from Sanford and have lots of friends there that I used to work with. People are worried.

Or was TM just standing his ground?
Knowing what little we do know - it is evident that GZ got out of the car (even if you go with GZ's account of being jumped from behind when RETURNING to his car regardless, GZ got out of the car. GZ took his loaded gun with him. GZ was looking for him (he told dispatch that he didn't know where he (TM) was)
Hinsight is 20/20 and from that I would conclude that GZ was the aggressor - first aggressor.
Think of a bar room fight. Words are exchanged inside the bar. One decides to walk way and goes out the door. The other one follows, all the while screaming and yelling and threatening - even if the first one stops and turns around to say something - who is the actual aggressor now?
IMHO - its the second guy that pursued the first guy out the door. The confrontation was over when one party disengaged and left the building. So, the second guy going out the door after him iniates a "new" confrontation simply by pursuit.
But that's JMHO
Sitting in traffic is peaceful?
I'm sure that's disturbing the peace for people who need to get somewhere.
Taking over lobbies is disturbing peoples peace also.
Not my definition of peaceful.
