Well, it does sound like something someone would say in a cheap horror movie. Maybe this has happened before, with no results
IMO

It just seems like such a horrible thing to say... I hope all the locals don't feel the way the clerk does.

Until LE comes out with a public warning of a Perp loose in that county, and asks to call in suspicious activity, asks that people check in on the elderly, ask people to make sure their doors are locked, I will assume that they know exactly what is going on and just will not say until prelims from evidence comes back..

Knowing how many sexual offenders are in every town, I wonder if any family that has money is doing the best for their children if they don't have an active alarm system, steel reinforced doors, shatterproof glass windows, and an indoor alarm system at night. These things would cut down on some of the home abductions, but most people wouldn't want to spend their money on it all even knowing how dangerous it can be if a lunatic should target their child.
Our alarm system is our grumpy (but precious) old doggy.

She lets us know if someone even steps foot on our driveway.

Beautiful words, LeLe! I don't care where you live, if you are a kind and loving soul, that's good enough for me.

I spoke to a poster by e-mail who was part of the search yesterday. They had stopped at a store to get directions to the command site to search, the clerk at the store told them, "her time would be better spent picking up TRASH ON THE HIGHWAY.... " how do you like that!

Every child is worth saving!

:eek::eek::eek:
No way!

If this was already discussed please forgive me...something that really bugs me about the house...since the GF changed the story so much, it still seems as though the kids slept in the same room or near Misty. This is a double wide mobile home, right? I've been in several mobil homes before and most of them have 3 to 4 bedrooms...they also have 2bathrooms and are relatively average around 900-1200 sq. feet over all.... it bothers me a little as to why the children didnt have their own rooms? Was there any mention of the children having their own rooms? or at least Haleigh?

Okay I'm back from Walmart :seeya:

OT but I didn't wear my slippers  I had on sneakers :D

Anyway, I was picking up items that I need to spring clean next week and here is what occurred to me.

I don't think Daddy did anything to her or had a hand in her disappearance.

I don't think Misty did anything to her or had a direct hand in her disappearance.

I think that there is a chance that the man (yes I think it was one perp and male) that took her is a sex offender but I'm not so sure he is registered.

I think the LE has probably been grilling all of the RSO's and has been in their homes, and will continue to do so (the usual suspects treatment)

I am wondering this.

Who has had access to the child within the last month or so? Who knows the layout of the home? Who might have a key to enter and move quietly and quickly, in and out, and abduct the child?

I don't think she is in the homes immediately neighboring her Daddy's house.

Who is the landlord? Who is in charge of running that rental property if it is not managed by the landlord? Who else has a key?

If someone else had a key, then they could come in any door they wish and leave however they wanted.

Just a thought.

Regarding layout.. BOLDED BY ME ABOVE

If you have not been in a modular or single wide home.. I can tell you one thing.. THERE IS USUALLY A BEDROOM BY THE BACKDOOR. Sometmes if you can get the model of the home (usually labeled somewhere outside on the home.. you can look up the floor plans with double wide home dealers)

As we found in the Caylee saga.. there were other homes in the area of the Anthony's that had the same floor plan.

You could drive around in my cul-de-sac find a house that looks like mine as far as window and door placements and find the 5 that have the same floor plan as mine. 3 houses down from mine there is one for sale, anyone can do a walk. Not rocket science to figure out the placements of bedrooms. This house was for rent in October. Maybe an SO took a tour acting like or was interested in renting. Town of 5300.. most people know each other or about each other.

SO could be watching my house for a week and determine that the bedroom that has the light on at 8 pm and out by 8:30 is probably my child's room and the one with the bedroom light on after 10:30 is probably the adult bedroom.

Just posted thru Twitter:

@GSReporters two families come together for first time in few days for candlelight vigil.

Been hoping Tim Miller and Mark Lunsford could bring these families together for Haleigh.Whomever made it happen, thank-you they need each other. There is still another child to think about, along with Haleigh.

In an attempt to bring the uttterly useless debate under control:

What theories do we have so far?
1. Father took her somewhere alive to keep her away from mother and family.
2. Father snapped and killed her for what ever reason before he left and had gf clean up the mess.
3. Father snapped and killed her for what ever reason and gf knows nothing about it.
4. One of the 44 registered sex offenders in the 2 surrounding counties took her for their own purposes.
5. Mother took her either out of a twisted sense of love or to get out of her child support obligation...or even for spite.
6. Complete stragner abduction...albeit an inept, very lucky stranger.
7. Haleigh wandered off on her own sometime during the night and is either deceased in the water or woods or is alie somewhere wandering lost.
8. Stranger abduction due to drug debts or gambling debts from the side of the grandparents or parents.
9. Abduction by member's of gf's family for unknown reasons.
10. Abduction by mother's family either with or without mother's knowledge.

Are there any I missed, barring alien abduction and black holes?

Abduction by acquaintance. Someone Haleigh came in contact with at school, local grocery store, gas station, DirectTV installer, phone company guy, rental agent, someone who worked at her pediatrician's office, local arcade employee. Someone who became interested some time ago and has been watching. Has anyone this child came into contact with in the last few months moved recently? My point is, who ELSE is gone?

The smoking bothered me too. Anyone who smokes in the house when children are present should be charged with abuse.

Definition of abuse: "use or treat in such a way as to cause damage or harm".

After all that we now know about second-hand smoke and it's effects I think the statement fits just fine MissOtk.

I think people equate the word abuse with physical violence.

In my state they have talked about issuing citations to people who smoke in cars with children present. How long before they start checking out what goes on in the home?

I'm curious. What exactly happens between now and her next birthday that makes her that much more mature and responsible?

Misty just turned 17. She doesn't appear to be a mature 17 year old, imo. Her birthday was in December. She has been with this guy for 5 months. He is 25 years old.
His birthday is in Oct.
So, a 25 year old guy, with a 16 year old girl. He was breaking the law when he laid down with her the first time, and he is breaking the law now!!!
The mother of his children was 14 when she gave birth to Haleigh. He was 2 months short of being 20. He was breaking the law then also.
I'm surprised he isn't a RSO.
jmoo[/quote]

The fact that he likes women very young, bothers me a bit. Well, to be honest, more than a bit. I saw a side picture of the current girlfriend on her myspace page and she looks very young

I am not accusing him of anything, but it's a bit of a worry for me. I hope he isn't a SO himself...JMO

Yes, we have that same alarm system as well but it has been upgraded x 3 and then to top it off, we sleep with Smith & Wesson both sides. If my DH misses (not likely), I'll get 'em.

How did he know which room Haleigh was in? It's unusual that she would be in the master bedroom.

ITA, we still need to keep our freedoms, I'm not a smoker and I don't like it but in the scheme of things do we really want to go that far in taking away rights? Ok, prolly said more then I should have.

My father was a smoker and smoked in the house as long as I can remember he was a wonderful and the most loving father and husband you could ever imagine. So all that about smoking is just BS, A child is missing if her family smokes is beside the point she needs to be found.

Looked in each room.

Yes, good point. Smoking is not an illegal act either.

Where to affect change? We all need to be the example for our children. We can't tell them to not drink & drive & then let everyone at the family bbq get 🤬🤬🤬🤬 faced. It's not do as I say, it really is do as I do.

When did we get afraid to get tough with our kids? I was NOT my daughter's friend when she was a teen, I was her mother. To her, I was the biggest B on the earth. That was okay. I often looked at her, told her in clear words what the rules were & that as her mother I refused to bury her as a result of a foolish action, her's or someone else's. Now, she is grown, with 3 children of her own. We are in fact best friends, now we can be. I can finally be her friend, confidont & her mother. I love all 3 roles.

We are so busy working, doing scouts, ball, ballet etc that we don't talk at the dinner table. We don't volunteer together, if we volunteer at all. There are only so many hrs in a day, so many in a wk. We all need to do something, like volunteer to help others, to show our children it takes all of us to care.

The only positive that might come from such a down economy, is it is much harder to afford all the activities for the kids. It just might us take a walk in the park or sit on the porch swing and talk. That can be a blessing. :blowkiss:

LeLe,
A truly wonderful post, as usual. :blowkiss:
I told my 9 y/o the other day, "If you're not ticked at me sometimes, I'm not doing my job." :)
It does not take money to be a good, effective parent. It takes love and determination. Money can't buy those things.
Keep thinking and posting...you have no idea how many times you've made me think, made me cry, or brought a smile to my face.
Em

This same thought occured to me. I hope that LE is checking the Landlord of the property, and prior renters. Since there was no forced entrance and the little girl is not said to have screamed..could it be someone who she knew..such as a landlord, someone who worked for the landlord, a gardener, handy man, someone like that???

I know some, maybe many, are struggling with how
to find a balance in discussing this case. I understand.

I am in and out of the Florida scrubs frequently on work.

If you do not understand this area, these folks, lifestyle, etc...
you will misinterpret most of the information regarding their
behaviors, etc.

Lots of etc... dealing with this. LOL!!!

Here here! People who don't live here, don't seem to understand that there are many "Floridas" that coexist almost side-by-side. If you are a non-resident and have followed the Anthony case, and think you know something about Florida and the people who live here-- well think again.

As an ex-California resident, it was refreshing when I moved here. In California, cultural and socioeconomic dividing lines are more sharp and distant. I live close to an area with multimillion dollar mansions near trailers and trailer parks, and old decrepit abandoned motels etc. There's an Old Florida that sits in more rural pockets sitting right next to the New Florida, sometime next door or across the street.

In many ways, I prefer the Old Florida. Give me these people and their trailer over the Anthony's and the Anthony home any day. At least they are real, and actually seem to live their lives with what little they have, right or wrong, without pretending or pretense.
