After all that we now know about second-hand smoke and it's effects I think the statement fits just fine MissOtk.

I think people equate the word abuse with physical violence.

In my state they have talked about issuing citations to people who smoke in cars with children present. How long before they start checking out what goes on in the home?

I am not a smoking advocate, but if that is the case the car emissions and all other toxins have to be abandoned as well. We know they are harmful....
just my opinion.

Until LE comes out with a public warning of a Perp loose in that county, and asks to call in suspicious activity, asks that people check in on the elderly, ask people to make sure their doors are locked, I will assume that they know exactly what is going on and just will not say until prelims from evidence comes back..

Really, would have thought one of the first things to be done, warn the community.

Wonder if he really thinks he has no enemies if... if he did some informant work for LE. Some how I don't think he is that stupid. Book learning he may not be good at but street smarts he's got as long as he can keep his temper from clouding his intincts.

This is not something that we will hear about from LE either. According to what went down at the time there could be alot of people that took a fall.

Keeping the idea of sleuthing in mind. It would make sense that he would talk to get his record cleaned in order get custody of his children. IIRC Grandma works for LE and is a member of the school board. Could be...she helped her son, talk to the right people?? This man is young, and seems to be trying.

Thanks for saying that... I was going to mention all the plastic goods we expose kids to and we all know how much lead has been found in those the past couple of years.

I smoke- not in my children's faces or anything like that but my children have never even had a respiratory infection- on the other hand, I have a nephew who is never around smoke and he's asthmatic.

Ok - FIRST - DH and I were just discussing this yet again - lol. I was explaining about the back door and such - we were looking at the layout below and just as I said "guy comes in back door, goes right around corner," and DH looks at me and says

AND NO DOG?​

WOW! Just think if they would have had a dog!!!!!!! And funny gpa has a record for (we think) dog fighting. Even if it would have just been a little yapping dog - a DOG!!! Would have made noise. Wow - just wow.


Ok - on to the pix. These are posted in the media thread. The first is obviously the house. The back door is somewhat obscured by trees but you can see it. You can't see the handicap ramp - but its there.

The second one is the one I believe to be the layout of this trailer. Look at the roof of the real one - there is only ONE bathroom in that trailer. AND, you can also see the dryer exhaust near the back door. By looking at this layout you can kinda figure out where the two matresses were in the master. And it explains why when Misty got up to go to the bathroom - she never got there because she saw the kitchen light on and then saw the back door open. I betcha the little matress that Haleigh was on was right there on that front wall of the master. So "perp" comes through door - around corner - reaches right inside and scoops her up and back out around the corner - GONE.

How did he know which room Haleigh was in? It's unusual that she would be in the master bedroom.

Sorry for the repeat. I think the TV was on and the perp could tell who was in the room and spyed her from outside the bedroom, if there is a perp/SO or whoever. Peeping Tom. Boy I hate typing that and now, as it just scares me. I am not saying that to be true in this case. Just a creepy feeling. Only a possibility of where Haleigh has gone. Geez...

not to be horribly graphic, but if this isn't a pedophile motivated kidnapping, then you had a pissed of guy who wants to get even with dad, in the house, standing over misti while she slept and he silently takes the kid? that just doesn't ring true to me

I'm not thinking that this was done by someone to get back at the father but it may have been what the dad originally thought.

Although with all of the SO in the area how hard would it be to give one of them sicko's some information of where and how they could get there hands a nice little five year old. The get payback without having to do a thing.

Just trying to run through any idea that may fit. Standard sleuthing procedure. Take what little we know and see if we can find a shoe that fits the facts without using a shorehorn to make work.

Its the kitchen light that gets me. [and the ever changing stories of Misty] What perp turns on the light? Why would Misty not have noticed the temperture change in the house if the door was open? The screendoor being propped open I get but if door was locked and hard to open then to me it wasn't locked, perp had a key, let in or already in the home and just waiting.

What theories do we have so far?
1. Father took her somewhere alive to keep her away from mother and family.
2. Father snapped and killed her for what ever reason before he left and had gf clean up the mess.
3. Father snapped and killed her for what ever reason and gf knows nothing about it.
4. One of the 44 registered sex offenders in the 2 surrounding counties took her for their own purposes.
5. Mother took her either out of a twisted sense of love or to get out of her child support obligation...or even for spite.
6. Complete stragner abduction...albeit an inept, very lucky stranger.
7. Haleigh wandered off on her own sometime during the night and is either deceased in the water or woods or is alie somewhere wandering lost.
8. Stranger abduction due to drug debts or gambling debts from the side of the grandparents or parents.
9. Abduction by member's of gf's family for unknown reasons.
10. Abduction by mother's family either with or without mother's knowledge.

Are there any I missed, barring alien abduction and black holes?

What's a copycat possibility?

GF drugs child to get her to go to sleep (so that GF can do whatever?) and the child dies and GF freaks out and disposes of body.

If this was already discussed please forgive me...something that really bugs me about the house...since the GF changed the story so much, it still seems as though the kids slept in the same room or near Misty. This is a double wide mobile home, right? I've been in several mobil homes before and most of them have 3 to 4 bedrooms...they also have 2bathrooms and are relatively average around 900-1200 sq. feet over all.... it bothers me a little as to why the children didnt have their own rooms? Was there any mention of the children having their own rooms? or at least Haleigh?

Even if it's a 2 bdrm. house, I'd think the kids would be in their own room. But what seems even stranger is the kids are supposed to be in the same room with her and the perp is still able to sneak in and take Haleigh? :waitasec:

I know, it's hard to think about some of this and sometimes I question myself why I do! In the end I think I'm trying to understand what will never be understood, or at least to be aware of what is going on in the world.
