It’s been a long 9 years, but thank goodness he’ll finally be held accountable. Glad to see so many people are still invested in seeking justice after so many years.

ETA: I didn’t know Brandi, but it was a true honor to change the thread title to read guilty

Yes it is nice to see. May that family finally have peace.

Justice delayed for so many years.

It seems to be the trend in strategy delay, delay, delay

It feels like extra justice that the verdict came down on the 9th anniversary of the murders.

The delays are frustrating but if I remember correctly he’s been incarcerated for the whole time so the joke is kind of on him and those representing him, given the verdict now. Please correct me if I’m wrong though.

You are correct. Upwards of 3,000 days in jail....

ETA: he has the distinguish of being the longest incarcerated prisoner in Leon County Jail

Almost the whole time. 8 years I think.

I am glad this jury didn't get bogged down by reasonable doubt caused an unreasonable (mentally ill) man.

Avila's possible DNA on the phone cradle still messes me up, but I do think as DNA techniques develop he will be completely ruled out. It doesn't make sense that he'd be there.....and use the phone...

If you have time go into the court records there is a motion regarding the DNA it really helped me understand. It is not his just has some alleles and it would not even be entered into Codis now since DNA has advanced so much.

Wow!!!!!!!!!! Still listening to rebuttal. Did not think verdict would come in today! Defense effed up by choosing 6 person jury given the previous jury’s poll!

yessssssssssss I think he’s a shoo in for DP!

OK I'll try to find that. I'm still way back trying to figure out what an allele is. I lasted exactly one semester as a bio major before switching to business. And only passed my chem final because a bunch of us "helped each other!"
