I'm so speechless and that doesn't happen very often. I am horrified at what Cherish endured.

I will NEVER understand how someone can be so evil to do this to a child.

The only solace I can find in all of this, is that I am quite sure, that he will never see the light of day again, and hopefully, at some point, he will cease to breathe in our space.

If ever there was a person who deserved the Death Penalty, Donald Smith is the Poster Boy.

MOO
As barbaric as this may sound, if the jury can't send him to death then he should be set free in the courtroom and allowed to walk free right straight through the courtroom to the street and should then have to wait for a taxi. Just saying.

Dear web sleuth friends, you are all so much stronger than I am. Just could not bring myself to watch today's testimony, but followed your posts. Thoughts of Cherish's suffering brought my anxiety level over the top. Like you, I've followed many trials to bear witness.

Are closing arguments tomorrow (Wednesday). I plan to put on my big-girl pants and try to watch the stream with you.

Tomorrow am is the plan -- think the judge said 9:30.

While we are waiting for the final phase anyone care to share coping strategies you find helpful during and after horrific trials. Exactly how did the stress present?

For me, I feel high anxiety in the form of racing heart, shortness of breath, tightness in chest.

I like the wine idea. Will tomorrow morning be too early?

Never too early. Remember, it's always 5 o'clock somewhere in the world.

Any word on death penalty phase? I saw something in msm earlier that indicated there might be a break between the two segments?

Hi Bravo, I always smile when I see you posting. We've been through some heavy-duty trials together. Great to see you too. OK. I will be here...7:30 a.m. my time. I'll set an alarm.

Do the jurors get access to counselling? I can’t imagine the horror of what they went through seeing and hearing what that monster did. I hope they manage to cope as well as they can.

  • #551
I sure hope they are provided counselling greg. They may think they will be ok but the days and weeks ahead may tell a different story. It was tough enough being here. I cant imagine being in the Courtroom and having to view the injuries.

  • #552
Do they draw alternates at the end or do they already know?

  • #553
Alternates are drawn before they go deliberate

I've never watched a trial about sexual assault. Is it common to show the members of the jury such graphic autopsy photos? Specifically of the genitalia? I could never ever be on a jury like that. I don't know how these jurors are doing it :(. I'll chime in that I also hope they get counseling.

For those WS members who cannot watch the trial, either by streaming or by Ytube and possible bandwidth issues, (as I have had bandwidth issues- no longer now) I have been given permission to post the tweets from today's court proceedings.

I will note when the ME is on the stand- some graphic tweets might appear- you may want to skip that bunch of tweets - before I post those tweets.
