SARASOTA - A Sarasota judge refused to budge on Dale Fullwood's bail of $50,000 at his first appearance in court Thursday.
Dale Fullwood, 46, was arrested Wednesday on two charges of possession of child

after an investigation by the North Port Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Fullwood is the father of 6-year-old Coralrose, who was found dead two blocks away from her home on Calabash Lane in North Port on Sept. 17.
Fullwood told detectives he last saw Coralrose when he got home from work at 2 that morning. When Coralrose did not come out of her room that morning, the family could not find her or her comforter and called 9-1-1.
Assistant Public Defender Richard Eisenberg, arguing for Fullwood, told the judge Fullwood has family ties, a job and is not a flight risk. Eisenberg also argued the bond was "too high" for the crime Fullwood is being charged with. He said the charges are third-degree felonies, and Fullwood's charges are considered the "least serious" of those types of sex crimes.
Fullwood also spoke to the judge, saying he had less than $200 to his name.
According to the Sarasota County Jail, Fullwood has to either come up with $50,000 or get a bond for that amount.
John Coleman, the Fort Myers attorney who represented the Fullwoods after their three children were removed from the home from the Department of Children and Families last month, said he has not decided whether he will represent Fullwood on his criminal charges.
Coleman said he would have to meet first with Fullwood's family, either today or early next week, and will decide then whether to represent Fullwood.
The Fullwoods also have a custody hearing in Sarasota for their children on Oct. 19. Coleman said he could not comment on how Fullwood's charges will impact the family's battle to regain custody of their children.
North Port Police Chief Terry Lewis said investigators told DCF of Fullwood's charges before making the arrest. DCF workers were reported at the home Wednesday before Fullwood was arrested. DCF was reviewing the condition of the home to be able to testify at the child custody hearing next week.
Lewis said the

charges are not related to Coralrose's murder investigation and warned people not to jump to any conclusions.
Clint Van Zandt, a former FBI profiler and 25-year law enforcement veteran, also said the

charges might not be related to Coralrose's homicide.
"People with rich sexual desires will create a psychological bridge between their fantasies and reality," Van Zandt said, who runs his own company, Van Zandt and Associates, in Virginia. "

is the reality most people will choose."
Van Zandt, who specializes in behavioral and forensic threat assessments, said it is not common for a father to take the next step and act out a fantasy on his own children. However, he said cases like that do happen, and North Port Police have an obligation to continue a multiple-track investigation.
