Just saw on FB that they’re seeking death. I figured they would. I would have been disappointment with anything but. Which means I’ll be staying home today because I don’t wanna hear baby momma of Robert’s son crying because they’re gonna kill her son’s uncle TJ. *insert eye roll emoji*

Thanks! I was struggling to read the clips of the document due to poor vision. Attached is a PDF of the Notice of DP in case anyone else has the same problem. Updated Case Summary attached also.

Excellent.

Death penalty sought for man in shooting deaths of 3 friends

The State Attorney’s Office filed its intent to seek the death penalty for Tony “T.J.” Wiggins Jr. on Tuesday in Polk County circuit court, the Ledger reported. Wiggins was indicted by a grand jury last month in the deaths of Brandon Rollins, 28; Damion Tillman, 23; and Keven Springfield, 30. Authorities said the three were killed as they prepared for a fishing trip on a lake in Frostproof.

This is behind a paywall after it loads but you can catch a brief glimpse of some of it.

State to seek death penalty against T.J. Wiggins in Frostproof triple homicide

Prosecutors filed a notice in Circuit Court on Tuesday stating their intention, citing two reasons for that decision:

• If Wiggins is convicted in all three killings, each one would serve as a previous conviction of a capital felony for the other two.

• The killings were committed to avoid or prevent arrest or to escape custody.

Good. From all reports, this guy is an absolute animal.
I will forever be troubled by what happened to 3 guys on their way to fishing, and equally troubled that I think TJ will wear this latest news as a badge of honor. It's sick.

I wonder if they will offer him a deal and remove the death penalty if he pleads? I know they often do but they love them some executions in Florida so they may go for making an example of him.

I’ll volunteer to give him a little “juice” with his breakfast. I live here. Just sayin’

I'm iffy on the DP. Sometimes I feel it's not ok to take a life for taking a life, but in this case.. I think it's warranted. However, it makes me wonder how long he'll sit on death row if convicted. I've seen some here in FL where they were on death row for about 10 years, (please don't ask me to provide links! LOL) vs California where people are on death row and they die before being executed. But with the way these murders were done.. he deserves the DP.

I am actually in the same camp. There are crimes that qualify for the DP but have circumstances where, LWOP is a more relevant punishment. In this particular case, the courts are dealing with a depraved human being without a soul. He has proven that he shows rage and no mercy when interacting with others. Even in prison, I’d vote for solitary confinement up until the DP kicks in. This isn’t my thinking he needs to be safe, it’s that the other prisoners need to be safe. You put an animal such as him, in a cage and he will not hesitate to torture, maim and kill. That seething rage in him spills out. He is far too broken to be reformed or salvaged.

When I was in local media, I had quite a powerful experience regarding the DP and I still can’t bring myself to support it. I had been against it all my life based on upbringing but I found myself covering a murder case where the victim was a personal friend. There was nothing more stressful that to be 30 ft from someone in a courtroom and to see this sentence handed down. It really wasn’t pity for the perp as I heard him joke about it as they put him on an elevator but just being in the same space where a government condemns someone to die shook me to my core. I vividly recall getting home that night and just staring at the wall.

Is there anyway someone can pull up a witness list? Robert’s baby mama is supposedly on one but I can’t find anything on my phone.

This may be what you need. I see this same document on all 3 of their accounts. It a Supplemental Discovery dated 10-14-20. I've seen a few of them with just a list of names and this is the latest one.

I’m not good with the legal stuff. What exactly does that mean? Does she need to get ahold of them? And that’s not her current address so if she doesn’t get in contact with them, does that mean they’ll like issue a warrant for her or something?

I don't know what the process is. I would think if she's being subpoenaed, they would go to her physically with a notice and she has to sign she received it. If they simply mail it to her, I'd say it will come back as undelivered. Then they'd have to reach out to her by phone at that point, maybe?
