FL - Daniel, 32, & Heather Kelsey, 30, found dead, Volusia County, 31 Dec 2016

Hey mom

that reporting has been all over the place one friend said they did not show up as promised, some reports make it sound like they went to solve some problem, some stories make it like they were heading home etc etc

Hey CARIIS,
Thanks. That's what I was trying to figure out.
Who did they see that day??

Yikes! Thanks for your personal experience, and I don't question it at all. Poor CARIIS, thrown into the dark, desperate world of drug addiction all tra la la, with nary any preparation and all bright eyed and bushy tailed! C'mere, you! *pat pat pat*

I believe you are correct; alcohol withdrawal can cause death, but not heroin withdrawals. A person will experience what may be the worst pain they will ever go through from heroin and opioid withdrawals, but suck it up buttercup. It won't kill you.

First paragraph a hoot !! I would prefer a check in the amount of $ 527,124 tho!

I never knew that until I got there! That you could not die , and yes that was there attitude, pretty much a quote -- you missed your doses the last two days go across the street , get under a tree, you know what comes next.

I have to confess - that that had never been lets say-- my approach to a pt (go crawl under a tree and suffer)- it was rather shocking -- kinda went against my grain if you will.

Totally different kinda of manipulative too! Looking back now what hits me (kinda funny) is actually their manipulative behaviors were jittery, pressured - they were starting withdrawal so it was a quick attempt at manipulating to get their methadone !!

I agree with many others here, I believe these parents set off high and died together of an accidental overdose. They pulled over because they weren't feeling well, passed out and died either of exposure or an overdose. People drive high all the time; if you are an addict you LITERALLY drive high all the time.

Couples accidentally overdosing together happens way more often than you'd think, many with children in their home or in tow. Only a few days ago a couple died of a drug overdose, and their infant daughter died of starvation before they were found.

Sometimes something different or extra is added to their drugs that causes death, maybe it's stronger than they are used to, or sometimes they inject too much.

This is just in the past few months:

Last year this couple overdosed in their 7-month-old baby's Children's Hospital room! Mother died, father had to be revived. If he wasn't in a hospital no doubt he would have died as well.

So can we agree that they were travelling from Quincy, Florida to Ormond Beach, Fl via I-4 (which would be out of the way, anyone who lives in Florida knows that you steer clear of I-4 around the Disney area).

So why would they be on I-4 heading north toward Ormond Beach. All of the gps' and maps say that the route between Quincy and Ormond Beach would be I-10 to I-95 south.

One article early on said they were driving up from Sanford just north of Orlando. I am not sure what Quincy has to do with it, other than perhaps they had been staying in Quincy due to their troubles. I know his FB page said he was from sanford. I guess they might have been working their way home, from quincy to sanford, then, that night back to ormond. Perhaps they had left the kids with family in sanford when in quincy or maybe they needed to stop in on their drug dealer in Sanford.

Pick up some drugs for the ride?

True, or this tragedy may have the opposite effect. Knowing that drugs killed their parents may steer them far away from using (if drugs are what killed them). In the end I hope this will be used for the good.

I hope they are not made aware of how their parents died, if DO was the cause, until they discover it on their own. Some may never use and some may to connect with the parents in some strange way
still waiting on autopsy for more answers

I am pretty clueless on drugs. What if someone was taking methadone(not exactly sure what it does or what drugs it covers) and was weaning off methadone and decided to take heroin. Could that cause death? I mean yes any can but the odds are possibly higher?

After some research it appears there is a methadone clinic in Quincy. Wonder if that's the reason they were there??

Yes, and also mixing alcohol with methadone can be fatal. I have a sibling in a methadone treatment program and they get drug tested weekly.

"Because of their problems, they were in Quincy, Florida, and were making their way back," Chitwood said.

The only mention of Sanford, FL was a picture in this link from a friend that said in June Daniel drove up from Sanford to visit him.

http://www.news-journalonline.com/n...-dead-on-i-4-near-deland-idd-3-children-alive

___

So in June they were living in Sanford, and now they are living in Ormond Beach?

And it still appears they were driving from Quincy to Ormond via I-4 which is totally out of the way.

I wonder if that would affect someone immediately, a few hours delay or?

Whatever we find out from msm or don't they have passed. It is very sad for the children and the grandparents.

Did LE find any needles in the car?

One of my favorite, Janis Joplin died of accidental heroin overdose. On a documentary it stated she still had needle in her arm. Eight people died that night from injecting pure uncut heroin. That's what I'm thinking happened here. IMO

My sons father passed away in 2001 when he was 25. He just didn't wake up. An autopsy and tox found nothing abnormal to cause his death. He dabbled in drugs and I broke up with him while he was starting to get intense in his addictions. We know he was doing a few drugs when he passed away but a overdose was ruled out.
We still have no answers. I really hope these families get the answers they need. Embracing them with peace.
