That is what I thought. But I also remember something about LE blowing up some luggage that was thought to be his, just in case...
Yes, I forgot about that! Was it carry on or checked, do we know?

It was reported he had a locked box. He did probably leave it in the bathroom.
Surprised TSA had no questions about him traveling with only a weapon---no baggage.
There should also be a way to check the military ID to see if it is valid. If they knew he was discharged, not honorably, and had pending DV charges, and had no luggage, just a weapon, could they have done something differently?

How would TSA know how much baggage he has? You can even check your baggage curbside.

Yet it has been reported that his gun was his sole baggage item.
So maybe whatever LE blew up wasn't even his baggage. Or just an empty bag.

Not sure if yesterday or the day before, but I remember reading that as well, I can't find a link to it now.
Whomever checked his weapon also checked his luggage, I presume.

TSA has nothing to do with checking in luggage.
Baggage is tracked. How else would anybody know what airline to put it onto? His baggage would have to have a tracking label attached to it.
There have been thousands of soldiers and marines who have seen their buddies killed or torn apart yet they are resorting to committing mass murder on totally innocent people. Millions of our vets who were in wars have seen the same horrific things and they are trying to commit mass murder on anyone.
I shouldn't have said TSA. Just meant that whomever checked in his weapon would have noticed he had no other luggage. I'd find that odd.
Why? A lot of business people go with just a laptop as they stay the day. Or they have other daily business. If he bought a ticket 72 hours before, that should have gotten him an additional screening
Obviously he was a danger. He left his newborn in a freezing car. He owned a deadly weapon . He told the FBI he was being forced by the govt to fight for ISIS. Of course he was a danger, to himself and others. But they still denied him a formal diagnosis of schizophrenia.
So maybe they did not think he was mentally ill. He might have just been a dangerous character for other reasons, not because he was sick.
ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - UPDATE:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Sunday information released by Anchorage Police Department about Santiago's child was incorrect.
In a written statement, FBI spokesperson Staci Feger-Pellessie said Santiago's child was not left inside the car when Santiago came to the FBI's Anchorage office.
"The child was in constant custody and care of the FBI, inside our facility, until his mother retrieved him," Feger-Pellessie said.
I was watching CBS live feed as the situation developed. That network had the video but refused to show it because it was too graphic. I don't recall whether they said it was the security feed or passenger video clips but they repeatedly told viewers they would not show the grpahic video but instead said what was on it.
TMZ does not say where it obtained the video, although it appears to be from a surveillance camera.
I see no reason why checked weapons can not be taken to a secure check-in ounce received at receiving airport, the weapon would then be given to the owner once ID is shown that the person is the owner and the weapon and the person are escorted out of the airport. When I purchased a long gun at a bass pro store after a wait period of 24 hours, (because it was the grand opening) they wanted to make sure their computer system was operating correctly, I was then escorted out of the store, and the gun was not loaded. jmo
Why did he tell the FBI that he planned this for awhile?
