FL - Five killed, 8 wounded in shooting at Fort Lauderdale Airport, 6 Jan 2017

I think a lot of people are giving him to much reality

He bought tickets to a relative (do not really think Alaska to Naples is on the itinerary)

Long long day, but the Cia is after him, he is a soldier, he must take his military ID with him

they are after him

He was in a plane for 10 plus hours triggered a flashback

just moo

So, you're thinking he planned to move to Florida, but that he wasn't planning to commit the rampage?

I was assuming he planning the rampage but not moving to Florida (except to jail).

Hmmm.... gotta think about this

Hmmm....could be. Except, he planned this attack on his own, not having a sudden flashback out of the blue.

Or were the past few weeks a flashback - he was living in a "war" all that time??

i just do not know about all this big terrorist attack planning - he bought the ticket less than 72 hours before

that is not imo this big terrorist attack --- it was someone who needed to get to Naples to be with a relative

When he finished shooting, he laid down and didn't point his gun at any cops. Sounds like he knew exactly what to do not to get himself killed.

I think that is what soldiers do in war when the run out of bullets - they surrender

He told FBI he planned the attack. So he wasn't going to go to FL to be with his relative.

If they don't want to get killed. He didn't want to get killed.

How is it NOT a big terrorist attack? He viciously slaughtered 5 innocents and attempted to kill many more. I'd say it was a successful terrorist attack for one lone wolf.

What relative did he need to get to? Did he bring any belongings besides the gun? None that I am aware of.

He gave away his possessions. Why do that if you are moving to Naples with your relative?

The Army veteran's rambling walk-in interview at the Anchorage office was concerning enough for authorities to take away his gun and order a mental health evaluation. But it wasn't enough to get him mentally adjudicated, which would have prohibited Santiago from owning a firearm.
Santiago got the gun back a month later when he retrieved the pistol from police headquarters, and it was that weapon, law enforcement sources told CNN, that he used in the airport attack.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/08/us/fort-lauderdale-airport-shooting-main/

So he was in a mental health facility for 2 weeks. And they knew what he told the FBI. And the knew he left his newborn in a car in freezing temps, along with a gun, which he was waiting to retrieve. Knowing all that, he was still not 'mentally adjudicated.'

See below:
According to federal regulations, a person has been “adjudicated as a mental defective” if a court, board, commission or other lawful authority has determined that he or she, as a result of marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease: 1) is a danger to himself, herself, or others; or 2) lacks the mental capacity to contract or manage his or her own affairs.3 The term “adjudicated as a mental defective” explicitly includes a finding of not guilty by reason of insanity or incompetence to stand trial.4

Getting someone "adjuctated takes months , and then some more months , followed by more months, and then some months.

Years

They have to have tried killing at least 4 people, themselves, 6 times - been involuntarily committed 19 times

seen 42 professionals, be homeless, dirty, and incoherent at the hearings ............

and then its iffy

how it works

He brought no luggage for this supposed move to Florida. Gave away all his prized possessions. Only packed his gun.....Hmmmmm>>>

Interesting. A lot of people here have adjudicated him already....

I am actually glad to hear that. I wondered earlier today why a celebrity gossip site that that video. Paid someone for it??

Interesting development.

I presume that's how TMZ gets their videos-they pay for them.

I'm looking at the TMZ video again of when he pulls out his gun and starts shooting. I don't see any backpack or other bag. I think what he holding is a jacket (which I would expect him to have needed when he went from his home to the airport in Alaska).

I think we discussed yesterday that he didn't have other luggage, even a carry on. The only thing he took with him is the gun he checked. Correct me if I'm wrong!

It used to be to save the last bullet for yourself, to not be taken alive and tortured/killed by the enemy way. jmo idk

Gun has to be in a locked box. He couldn't have just checked a gun without any box/bag. I presume he left his box/bag in the bathroom where he loaded the gun.

It was reported he had a locked box. He did probably leave it in the bathroom.

Surprised TSA had no questions about him traveling with only a weapon---no baggage.

There should also be a way to check the military ID to see if it is valid. If they knew he was discharged, not honorably, and had pending DV charges, and had no luggage, just a weapon, could they have done something differently?

ETA__NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT___DIDNT LE BLOW UP HIS LUGGAGE YESTERDAY?

Too busy patting down little old ladies, I presume.

Yes, I meant that. I don't think he just handed over the gun, lol. Gun plus whatever container was necessary and whatever paperwork was necessary.

But nothing else, other than the jacket, as far as I can tell. No backpack, no carry-on bag. Nothing to indicate he intended to set up a new home or even change his clothes while in Florida.

That is what I thought. But I also remember something about LE blowing up some luggage that was thought to be his, just in case...
