Sara's opening was perfect! Now they are at sidebar - now a break prior to def opening. I hear Jackie is the one who is giving the def opening.

Every time they showed DA she was remarkably calm looking and not making her ridiculous faces. Was surprised to hear DA authored a script for the jailhouse witnesses she was attempting to bribe to testify for her. She just can't help herself!!

Yah, I noticed. HA is the only person sitting in the "pew" of defense reserved seating. I'm sure the jurors have noticed, too. No doubt their
plane has been delayed?

Defense concedes Charlie paid for the murder. Not for blackmail. Is the plan to concede that Donna was an accessory after the fact? Just being a helpful mother to her son?

The defense has so little to work with here and must have (correctly in my opinion) concluded that Charlie's double-extortion story was an albatross. Though not a strong defense, throwing Charlie under the bus is about the only hope they have. I'm wondering if the defense might elect to NOT call Charlie now.

A couple observations: 1) The defense opening extolling Donna as "just like us" and as a caring, kind person almost certainly opens the door to Rob Adelson's testimony regarding Donna's vindictive and mean character. 2) Although counsel represented to the court that Donna would be testifying, I'm wondering whether they choose to not put her on the stand and go all-in on the "the state didn't PROVE every element of the crime" defense.

Major disclosure in my opinion, maybe showing first cracks in the unified Adelson family armor.

I think Jackie F was better here than the ridiculous story Dan R had. I think it was pretty good, and certainly considering what little they have to work with. The evidence is so overwhelming. Sarah D was excellent. It's interesting that they are leaning into the state's cases against all of them, including Charlie. I think she is arguing that the state proved Charlie's guilt, but that does not mean that the defense here agrees that he is guilty. That's certainly an interesting dichotomy, although I doubt that will fly.

I always thought it was going to be a good defense for her to say she just did what her son told her so she wrote checks, etc. But I think all the other evidence is just too overwhelming. We would expect her to argue that she thought she was going to be arrested, so she was trying to leave, not that she was guilty and trying to leave. I love the little tidbit we got about her writing a script for the inmate to testify at this trial. This case gets more mafia like by the day. Hopefully that doesn't extend to the jury.

I'm still feeling insulted after listening to the defense extol the virtues of the man their client helped to murder. I don't believe I have ever heard the defense drone on and on about all the positives the victim encompassed. The attorney was trying to make out like DA respected and cared about DM.Waiting for the some of those DA emails and texts demeaning DM. That should set the record straight about how DA really felt about DM. JMOO

Donna was showing emotion as autopsy photos are about to be shown. Is this because she was responsible for this? Judge called for a break. When they resumed, now she is sitting there with her eyes closed.

I feel for the Markels having to go through another trial and living through this again. I noticed that Ruth Markel left the courtroom as this testimony was starting.

Now judge called for lunch break and he is telling Donna not to show any emotion.

Momma's boy hiring killers without talking to Mom is not credible. Even as a surprise birthday gift to Harvey. This is not like buying a car for someone and putting it in their driveway.

Possibly the strongest evidence is "This involves the two of us." Not "What a mess you got me into." It's team play all the way. Only at trial does each one blame another.

DA's theatrics didn't move me whatsoever. Maybe she is just feeling sorry for herself for getting caught in addition to putting on a show for the jury. Have to add, that IMO she doesn't even look like the same person that was arrested at the airport.

The tears for Dans... oh the tears......... LOL what an actress. She is trying SO hard to look like the sweet little grandma, Hope they play the videos showing her TRUE self. I don't think she can pull off being on the stand. She'll lose the control and her façade. Going to be interesting.
