There's something about this defense that I find a tad deceptive and condescending, and if I was a juror it would completely turn me off, mistrust them from the get-go, rather than think they are serious.

When she was cross-examining Luis R she spoke to him like he was 10 years old, about showing him pictures. This is also smoke and mirrors, because LR never saw the Adelsons as far as I know, so how would he identify them by picture? Didn't they only have a photo of Dan? He would have been looking for the females' ages to see which one would be the mother of the kindergarten children, is my guess.

There is a lot of evidence that it was Donna who was meddling in every way and did not respect Dan. I don't think it's smart to pretend that she liked Dan because he was a great guy and that she was a sweet loving grandma setting up Skype, and wasn't the email writer. It would be a good strategy if there wasn't so much other evidence, like the divorce, the bump, the phone calls, the tickets to Vietnam, etc.

It's important for jurors not to lose respect for any lawyer. IMO

A better strategy would be to say she clearly took Wendi's side in the divorce and said some awful things, but she had no idea what Charlie was up to.

Courtroom looks pretty full this morning, more so than Friday. Ruth Markel must have been freezing last week, she looks dressed for it today!

I am expecting Georgia to go harder on Wendi than she has previously. It could be her last crack at WA, so she needs to give it her all! However, if she goes easy on her like I think she has done in prior trials, I will conclude that means she intends to prosecute Wendi. So just let me know Georgia

As you can hear from the arguments being held in court now, and as I said, it was obvious where this defense was going with regard to these emails. You can be guaranteed, as I also said, that when Wendi gets up there, she is either going to say that she doesn't remember who they were from, or she is going to say it was Harvey because she knows he is not going to be charged. And again, as I said, even if she is lying because she previously admitted they were from Donna, I believe because of the Kastigar issue, they cannot challenge her on that on cross exam by Georgia.

I'm not saying that the jury is going to buy it, but for sure that is what The defense is arguing.

Jo on STS commented on that paralegal’s comforting and back rubbing as being inappropriate. Not only is the defendant (and everyone in the gallery) to not be reacting but lawyers and paralegals should definitely not be emoting and/or touching / comforting clients. Normally the bailiffs would have put a stop to that interaction.

When I watched DA take her glasses off at end and blot her face with a tissue, I saw no moisture. I kept thinking of Donna telling Wendi she was the best actress ever when she wanted to be Like daughter, like mother. Her trial performance felt very much like the van scene. Biggest faker ever! MOO.

This will go against the defence. Let's say hypothetically some jury members are taken in by DA's theatrics. Imagine how they're going to feel when they realise they've been played, taken for fools. The evidence will gradually be presented that shows what a truly despicable human being DA is and they'll realise the crocodile tears are just another example of this evil person's manipulative behaviour.

I was just coming here to say this!! If her mother were also an attorney and this was her area, then maybe?? But as an adult, I feel like I would still handle this myself except for one-off questions. (ETA: and I’m a lawyer)

Wow. The state had a trove of emails we never saw. These emails are just dragging Wendi and Donna from one side to the other. Amazing stuff. Her usual testimony is to get up and pretend that her mother didn't really have any part of any anything, didn't know anything, and baked him banana bread after the grandma motion. Let's see if she tries that testimony today.

I wonder if they got all of these emails from Donna's phone after her arrest, or they had them previously and were just saving it up for her today. These emails are blowing every lie that Wendi made along the way out of the water. All of her testimony always minimizing how her mother is not controlling, didn't meddle, didn't know what was going on in her divorce case, didn't get involved in the divorce case. These emails show her to be the meddling, overbearing, in the driver's seat, mother that she is.

I don't think that Georgia even has to go at Wendi hard if she gets up there and gives her usual testimony minimizing everything. She can give a few sarcastic jabs at her, but she can wrap it up in a big bow for the jury in closing. All they have to do is look and see with their eyes and ears.

Not only that, it is also obvious how Wendi manipulated her mother and wound up her whole family to do something to help her because everything else failed. Just like she did with Jeff Lacasse , all of her friends, as we have seen. She is always the victim and wants to be rescued. It works. Even her female friends are very protective of her as we saw in the interrogation video, etc. Also, enmeshed as this family is, proven with these emails, and all the other stuff they are going to bring in, how will Wendi argue that she did not know that her family was going to take the boys' father off this mortal coil? Did her happening to be at the crime scene an hour and a half later was just because she has a poor sense of direction? That it just so happens that she sent a text from her parents' condo asking if Dan was going to be in town for his own murder?

They definitely have enough to get Wendi, and I still think we don't know the half of what they have against her.
