Have any reports surfaced that there were other people in the area when the car was being parked? Are there people walking around in the video beside the suspect?

Also, was it clarified that her car sat in that parking space the whole time until it was found?

Great questions BB:

I have not heard any reports at all. I do know that LE interviewed the owner of the car by the poolgate, and I believe it is a resident who has nothing to do with the case. Great question and observation.

I've always wondered if LE went back and watched every second of the tape from the time JK talked to Rob at 10pm, and the time the car was found at 8am on thursday the 26th.

In other words, could the POI have made more than one trip to HOTG?

Did he drop the car at one time, use it, and then leave it for good on the 24th? (I know it is unlikely)

When was the next person who entered the parking lot after the POI dumped the car, and when was it?

WAs LE able to identify that person, and see if they saw the POI?

What about the camera at the gate, was there any activity just after the POI walked by? a potential witness? or an accomplice?

Did LE review the tapes and see if the POI returned to the car at all after the 24th, to check and see if LE found the car, to wipe down prints, etc?

Many times, a perp. will come back to the scene to see if the car has been discovered.

Left, were u here with us the first few months of this discussion?
Things being notice and mentioned now are similiar to things said back then.
I still feel like I heard an LE say in the beginning that Jenn was also on the tape. Never heard it said again. And may remember wrong. Anything I interject is just a memory seach of what was said before. I have no conclusions to offer here in anyway. I know the height was questioned from the beginning.
I have always wondered abt the creases in the knee of the pants because the kids wear those HOT TOPIC pants with chains that hang around the knees. Those pants also have zippers at the knee so the bottom of the pants come off.
I have to go to work. I hope something surface soon, I am tired of being frightened every time I see a guy in a hat like that.

You made this statement as a fact.
Do you have personal knowledge or a link to this information?

Oh, Good! Drumstick is back! Go read the board from the past few days, Drum. Some great stuff!

Maybe you could shed some light on a few things and take some legitimate ideas back to the family...like the need to revisit the height issue and hire a PI.

I wasn't really here from the beginning. I remember hearing about this case on Greta about two weeks after it happened. I have been following the case since about two weeks after it happened, but, just joined Websleuths in January of this year.

RE: JK possibly being on the tape:

I must admit I had never heard that. I do remember Drew saying that he "didn't know if JK was in the car when it was parked, or what". This was early on.

Then, of course, it was hinted that LE "knew" jk did not park the car. I have never heard the rumor that JK was in the car when it was parked.

I have heard "speculation" that LE has a photo of JK in the car with the POI. hOwever, I think it is just speculation.

You brought up a good point. I would love to know what is on that tape, both 1/2 hour before, and after JK's car was dumped.

Maybe someone else can help us out with this topic.

The pants this suspect is wearing does not have zippers at the knees, imo.

Why would you be afraid of every guy in a knit cap or a bicycle helmet?

By the way, it would make no sense for JK to be in the car when it was parked and they not find her. The suspect left alone. Altho, I have speculated that another person could have gotten out of the car and walked the other way in that missing few seconds of the tape. (Plus the way LE kept going after this 'other' person to turn in the perp and "distance themselves" in their pressors.) I just don't see any reason for them to hold back the suspect wiping the car down...so it must be something else.

I recall reading they had "hoped" to get a pic of Jenn in the car with him from one of the surveillance cams off other cams near that intersection. I am doubtful they got one since they are only using this awful pic of the suspect.

Frankly, I would question the mailman! He was there almost every day at the same time (wonder how close to noon?) and parked very close to where the car was found. Doesn't that postman listen to the news or don't they alert the postal carriers to be on the watch? He should have noticed that car from day one. He/she was parked just a couple of spaces down in the picture with the Kesses at HOTG.

It is funny, but, it seems like different people see different things as it relates to the POI.

I know some people are convinced that the arm showing of the pOI is his left arm. In my mind, it looks like his right arm.

AS for being scared of guys in hats. It is never a bad idea to be cautious, especially if you live in Orlando. That is what cases like this do, they make people nervous about their safety. In the BTK case, women used to get home from work, and immediately check their phone line to make certain it was working (BTK would cut phone lines of his victims). It never hurts to have a plan, and to have co-workers walk single woman to their cars, and to have safety calls when walking to a parking lot alone.

This type of fear, and the fact that JK is missing, is is why people like this need to be caught, ASAP

Not only that, but, mailman usually know all the residents, and their habits. Plus, maybe, he recognizes the POI from his route.

Be interesting to know if that mailman also serves Jk's condo complex.

I remember the woman who recognized Jk's car. She was correct and stated that she thought the car had been there a day or so, because she almost backed into it. We need more people like her in this world.

Yes, I thought about the mailman serving both complexes and the possibility he was at the other complex before he arrived at HOTG. Could he have seen the suspect walking back as he drove by or have seen him at Mosaic after he moved the car?

Did you read the posts by Crypto yesterday? He or she works alongside police dogs and gave his opinion regarding the effectiveness of Bo. It was very interesting. Basically, what the majority of us thought.

He thought that Bo was well trained and that he was probably tracking the pOI, since Jk was not at the car when the car was parked at HOTG. You could tell that he or she knows what he is talking about. It is good to have experts.

Regarding whether Jennifer Kesse was caught on surveillance camera video driving her car the morning of January 24, 2006, which is the day she was reported missing, I did find this article which does confirm that surveillance camera tapes were collected from businesses in the area. I do recall hearing an early rumor that Jennifer's car was caught on surveillance camera video footage at the corner of John Young and Americana on the morning of January 24, 2006. In the article below it says that outdoor surveillance camera tapes were collected from the 7-11 located at the corner of John Young and Americana.

Police Using Surveillance Video In Search For Woman

January 31, 2006
WFTV News Channel 9

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Police are using surveillance video from stores to try to find missing 24-year-old Jennifer Kesse. Officers have already taken the tapes from several businesses located near Jennifer's condo, which is near the Mall of Millenia.

Police are now releasing a timeline as to when they think Jennifer's car came through the South John Young Parkway corridor and detectives are scouring the store surveillance tapes hoping one of the cameras captured something to narrow the timeline.

Jennifer's car is still the best clue police have. A woman, who didn't want to be identified, but lives in the Huntington on the Green apartments where Jennifer's car was found last Thursday morning, remembers seeing the car a whole day earlier, Wednesday morning. She nearly hit it, in the lot.

"My kids were making noise in the car and I almost backed into it," she said. "I didn't notice that car before and, when I noticed it, I knew it wasn't somebody staying around here."

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the Chevy Malibu anytime after 10pm Monday night, when Jennifer last spoke to her boyfriend, and Thursday morning at 8am, when the car was found.

Detectives think Jennifer herself, or someone else, was traveling on South John Young Parkway, between Texas and Americana and Conroy Road by the Mall of Millenia, during that time frame.

A manager at the 7-Eleven along John Young and Americana confirmed that police collected their outdoor surveillance tapes looking for clues.

The sheriff's helicopter crew searched the same vicinity and the woods next to Mosaic condos, where Jennifer lives, along with Orlando's mounted patrol. The bloodhounds who first picked up a scent from Jennifer's car last Thursday were on the hunt again at Huntington on the Green apartments Tuesday. Some residents there have been interviewed by detectives two and three times.

Jennifer's family picked up another 50,000 fliers to distribute Tuesday. They now have the help of Orlando firefighters, who have permission to pass out flyers during their calls for service, especially in high crime areas that might not be safe for Jennifer’s family and friends.

Jennifer was last heard from eight days ago and was reported missing after she failed to show up for work Tuesday. Her car was found about three-quarters of a mile away from her condo on Thursday. Police have not yet released what, if anything, they found inside the car.

A $115,000 reward has been established for anyone who has information that will help find Jennifer.

I did. I was also interested in Crypto's statement that water could have disturbed the scent. I tried to find a way to get the weather reports for the day the car was left and afterward to find out if it had rained, but had no luck. Any idea where we could get that info?

Cat

thanks for sharing that. It would be nice if all the locals would share information with those of us who live outside of Florida.

Anyway, it is odd how LE keeps on saying the car may have been on South John Young Parkway.

Now, is Le speculating since this is supposedly the road that JK took to work, or does Le have video evidence of Jk and the POI in the car?

Because, if the pOi simply dumped JK's car at HOTg, wouldn't he have just driven down Americana, and then a left on Texas? Why does LE think Jk's car was on South John Young Parkway?

Also, I heard a report that JK's "toll pass", I think you guys call it a "easy pass" or something, was not used. IS this true, and if so, what does it mean? Is this pass necessary on JOhn Young Parkway, or just tollroads like the one Jk would take to Ft lauderdale?

Thanks CAt for all your local knowledge. and to your hubby.

I thought someone looked up that information (maybe Cat) and that it hadn't rained during the time Jk went missing. NOt sure, but, I thought so.

One way to find out, would be to find the archives for the Orlando Sentinel, and their weather report from January 22-26th.

Or possibly the national weather service

AS far as the weather:

If it had rained, wouldn't the entire scent have been affected? Remember Bo tracked the scent from HOTG to Mosaic.

My take is that the scent ended due to watering of grass, multiple scents, multiple scents of the same person, fertilizer, or a strong smell. then again, i'm not a dog expert. Just my take. Crypto seemed to agree.

good job

leftcoast,

Jennifer's E-Pass for toll roads was not used that day. I would have to search for a link. The name has now been changed to SunPass.

I can look up any day to see what the weather was like in Orlando. Go to this link for what the weather was like in Orlando on January 24, 2006:

Wow, thanks CAt

that explains why the pictures look like it was dark, or overcast. It was very close to it starting to rain.

It looks like it rained a bit, .10 inches, around 2pm on the 24th, but no rain on the 25th or 26th.

That is a cool site. Good information.

Don't bother searching. I trust when someone says they know something is true.

the only time I question things is when people have information that I think contradicts something i heard, or if it seems odd, or unusual.

Would the "sunpass" be necessary on South YOung parkway, or just certain roads, such as toll roads like the one needed to visit Rob.

Also, is it possible that the POI just went to a tollbooth and paid cash, instead of using the "sunpass", or does the sunpass automatically get charged if it is on the windsheild?

thanks

Yes. I know this is true, but sometimes I wonder if they are looking at the same pics I am!

I think it is his right arm, too.

The BTK case would make anyone in his area nervous and suspicious. I am glad they caught him! However, I don't see this suspect being a 'serial ' type, but you never know I suppose. LE doesn't seem to be able to link him to any other abduction or crime in Orlando tho. After 16 mos., you would think if he were...there would be another abduction similar around the area.

I am a huge advocate for safety measures for all women. We need to understand it is always a good idea to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions. My kids and I do safety calls, not going out alone to parking areas, and other things. Growing up, we practiced defensive moves to hopefully help avoid becoming a victim. (Taking the side of your shoe, scraping down his shin, and then stomping his foot hard is a good one to remember to give you a second to flee.)

How ironic that Jennifer is one of the women who has a safety plan in place while going about her everyday life. That is one thing that gets me on this case. She does everything she is supposed to and still goes missing. When and where did she let her guard down?

I totally agree! Anyone who will kidnap another person for any reason needs to be caught! ASAP!
