I agree with educating kids about this. Parents have got to provide oversight and maybe block kids from downloading apps. It needs to be on-going. And also to let kids know at the same time, it is not right for anyone to touch them and it is okay to tell 3 adults.

When they are young enough and don't have their own device, its easier to block kids from downloading. Teens? a little tougher.

I will always wonder how we got from "I told them no no no, this can't happen very often" ( ) to Madeline being literally forced by JS to sleep with SS -- not even just to sleep in her own cot/on the couch downstairs, but specifically in his bed in Room #4 -- despite Madeline begging JS for them all to sleep together, that one fateful night (most likely in an effort to avoid the continued abuse she knew was coming if he managed to get her alone).

This is why I will always believe JS was complicit. No good parent goes from that first extreme to the other. Not only that, but if she was truly worried about losing him to the Woody Allen scenario, why would she force it? There are few explanations, and none of them good.

If they lived in that condo that whole time (pretty sure they did), then, at some point, there absolutely must have been options for Madeline other than Room #4, when JS apparently needed her sleep. There's no getting around the fact that JS made any/all of those no longer an option by the time of these events, because she specifically forced Madeline to go sleep with SS in Room #4, despite Madeline's pleas to the contrary.

For whatever reason, having SS in her life was more important to her than protecting Maddie from SS's abuse.

I think she sacrificed her daughter's innocence and well-being to keep SS around.

I believe, they were partners in crime, and she started the abuse. With him, the right two had found each other. That's, why he was so important to her, I believe. Her choice several years ago was great (in her sense): he hasn't really betrayed her to the police yet. MOO

I am with you on this. I cannot get past how you are protective of someone who you know has SA'd your daughter, that you have also seen photos of,. Just leave the murder out for now b/c who knows what happened there or who was all involved or the extent of their involvement.
What explains her reaction to SS and the charges?
IF they were making videos, was she in on making the videos? Maybe not even involved but aware?? They were always broke. and she would imply that SS stole from his parents ( the watch. cash) was that to throw them ? to answer before they ask. " he wasn't working how do you explain the money he spent?

I don't get it, There has to be something there. I cannot understand her protectiveness otherwise.

I believe it's possible she went into deep denial and didn't allow herself to admit (to herself) what was obviously happening. And she was initially "protective" of him toward LE because it allowed the denial to continue. Otherwise her false-reality would have come crashing down.

It allowed her to not yet face that she was the one who chose and continued choosing-- a monster. She could still pretend somewhat that the nightmare wasn't really happening.

But I wonder if she now has seen the light and will be fully cooperating with the prosecution?

At the end of the day its not normal to send your teenage daughter to go and sleep with your on and off boyfriend. Sleeping with her biological dad would not seem strange with a lack of space but SS ....No in my opinion she knew what was going on and either plainly didn't care until it went too far and he killed her or she profited off whatever income he got from Telegram and the Dark Web... The way that the Dark Web works is with a browser called Tor this can be loaded onto a memory stick or external harddrive an so it keeps any activity completely private... Its good for Whistleblowers but unfortunately scum like pedos or drug dealers take advantage of the anonymous nature of Tor... Strange how his computer didn't have a hard drive and it never showed up isnt it

Somewhere within these threads? But IIARC that hard drive has not surfaced or been located? And IIARC SS father also had some information or responses when questioned about that supposed hard drive? And it doesn’t seem clear who all might have knowledge or details on it?

There might also have been some discussion about a storage facility and some computer equipment. And again SS father IIRC was in some of these discussions with authorities? I hope authorities can dig deep and understand the use of the electronic equipment, recordings that SS made, and the trail for that information. I have wondered if there was some other storage device, such as a flash drive, that is stored wherever the mysterious watch is and SS is hoping they find the "watch"?

When I was little, one thing I loved to do was go jump in bed with my parents on Saturday morning. No school, no work! Let's play!

It seemed strange to my little mind at the time that my parents discouraged this so strongly that I quit doing it.

Only as an adult did I realize they didn't want me to be in a position to notice in case my dad had woken up with "morning wood."

At the very least you'd think JS would have been concerned about the same with SS if they were all sleeping in the same bed together.

I am pretty sure it was SS's mother who told that story. Madeline told her about it and was giggling like she thought it was funny, but SS's mom did not think it was funny.
