Yes unbelievable. Not to mention:
'Can I make one decision now and change my mind later if I decide not to press charges now could I change my mind and press charges later.' Literal qoute from the police interview. Not to mention the tone. My god.

ETA: Note at the 20 min mark when JS cries over her fear that she's left alone because SS pulls a Woody Allen (when her daughter turns 18)! It's all about Jen...

Imagine that Madeline had not been murdered and it was up to Jenn whether or not to press charges for the CSAM. I don't think she would have pressed charges against SS for that in a million years.

Thank goodness it was not her decision.

The woman is beneath contempt.

The fact that she assumed she had the option at all to not press charges in a case of child rape astounds me. A parent doesn't even get a look in on determining that. But she just assumed she had complete control of that circumstance. That tells me so much about her, along with all her other comments. I think there's no way she didn't know exactly what was going on, and I think it's appalling she isn't in jail, too.

MOO

Dad's get criticism for the women they bring around their kid(s). How many more mothers are going to bring monsters around theirs? Children being killed by their biological mothers boyfriends should be a public health issue.

She knew he was grooming her, allowed him to sleep in the same bed as her...the things I want to say would probably earn me a ban.

Stephan Sterns’ sex crime trial is set to begin on Tuesday, but a plea hearing has been scheduled for Monday at 1:30 p.m. that could cancel that trial.

The plea deal would cover the sexual battery and possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges plus the murder charge, which would be handled in a separate trial.

Sources say the plea would mean life in prison, as opposed to risking a death sentence if the case goes to trial.

Does this mean if Sterns takes a plea deal, they won't need her and possibly be able to charge her also?

Thanks for the update @Gemmie …… and this isn’t directed at you at all…..

The quote from that article….. “The plea deal would cover the sexual battery and possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges plus the murder charge, which would be handled in a separate trial.

Maybe I am tired, but that latter part IMO doesn’t seem consistent with the earlier portion of the statement. And the use of ‘plus’ is further confusing IMO.

What will be handled in a separate trial? And what is being pled to? Does the plea include the murder charge or not? And which charge? MOO

I agree! Plus, to me, isn't "separate". The murder charge is what would be handled in a separate trial. There's always been 2 charges.

Oh.... I finally think I get what they are saying. There are 2 charges, and 2 trials, with 2 different trial dates. The CSAM case, which is coming up, and the murder charge trial, set for September 22nd.

So, that quote from the article is saying that the plea deal covers BOTH charges That would be the "plus" part. (The CSAM case and the murder case). The murder case, as I said, is separate from the CSAM trial. One is July, the other September.

But I agree... they could have stated that a little clearer cuz it stumped me for a minute too.

Did that make sense out of that word soup? lol

Yes, that could be the case. Good thoughts! Maybe all the charges are being combined and addressed in the plea. Yet I still don’t quite read it that way from the way it was stated. If as now thought, it should have stated IMO …. ‘…. possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges in addition to the murder charge, which would have been handled in a separate trial’. MOO

It sounds like the plea covers both cases against him, even though they are separate charges, separate cases, and with separate dates. The murder case is the one on the top.

I support the DP for SS, but I also think it would be lovely if he lived out his life in a small, cold, dark cell. Alone. One tasteless meal a day and nothing for entertainment purposes. Let him stare at a blank wall and whine about needing a blanket and other nonsense.
Plus, no root beer barrels.

I hope Maddie’s father was consulted in Stephan’s plea agreement.

Unsure, but might have been. I'm thinking he and JS are the only two that matter as they are her parents. Not sure if aunts, cousins, grandparents, etc., would be included in the "would be on board" comment.

Sources say the plea discussions have been underway for days, and that at least some relatives of Madeline Soto would be on board.

The state would also have to agree to not take the case to trial.

I’m really hoping so. I was actually planning on going to opening statements in Osceola County Friday but looks like that won’t be happening. I was NOT expecting that today!

Maybe this is the summer of plea deals.

Who’s next? For Jen, summer would be too soon. But maybe some other currently incarcerated defendant…we do have a little less than a month left.
