I am clear across the US from this horrific crime and yet the Radio Station DJ's in the same town I am (one male and one female) were in tears talking about this loss. It made it hit home :rose:

I can relate.

Everyone's so worried about his motives, but the only one who can tell us that is OM... And he's dead, so we'll never truly know.

If she would be truthful, his wife may be able to tell more than what we currently know.

This reporter does not mince words...

Rita Panahi: We must call out this bigotry

IN THE past week Islamist terrorists have launched deadly attacks against civilians in places as disparate as the United States, Syria, Israel, France and the Philippines.

You’d expect this carnage would prompt a careful examination of the ideology motivating these attacks but our leaders, and much of the commentariat, steadfastly refuse to acknowledge let alone discuss Islam’s role in acts of terror around the world.

Instead they indulge in the most cowardly moral equivocation imaginable, one that gives cover to extremists. Worse, they attempt to intimidate and silence those who dare acknowledge the proverbial elephant in the room. Anyone who admits the undeniable link between Islam and Islamist acts of terror is accused of Islamophobia.

“America and Russia stop bombing the Islamic state..I pledge my alliance to [Islamic State leader] abu bakr al Baghdadi ..may Allah accept me,” Omar Mateen wrote, according to the letter, which requested Facebook’s assistance in the investigation into the shooting that resulted in 49 deaths.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...ble-main_flainvestigation1115p:homepage/story

Mateen then posted, according to the letter: “The real muslims will never accept the filthy ways of the west” and “You kill innocent women and children by doing us airstrikes..now taste the Islamic state vengeance.”

At some point on Sunday, Mateen also searched on Facebook for “Pulse Orlando” and “Shooting,” according to Johnson.

We have Black Hawk helicopters involved in counter-terrorism exercises flying over our city (Adelaide, South Australia) all this week. Can't help but notice them.

JMO Mateen was a terrorist in the making from a young age. When he beat up his first wife, he was a terrorist. I see a conflicted person who could not live up to his fathers expectations particularly because he was gay. He couldn't identify himself as gay, because of his fathers religious beliefs, some of which, Mateen internalized. Despite apparent narcissism, he loathed himself.A handy solution to that inner conflict, recently having raised its flag, was ISIS. So here's the plan.....arm yourself to the hilt, go to your favorite club (which didn't need to be cased, because the layout was all too familiar) kill all the people inside, call 911 to make sure the police show up, and keep shooting until they kill you. Make sure that you proclaim your allegiance to ISIS before they kill you and BINGO! Conflict resolved.......now you are a martyr on your way to a glorious afterlife..... JMO

Don't forget, with Charlie Hebdo, it was the cartoons' fault.

And when they throw those poor gay men off roofs just because of their sexual preference, it's probably gravity's fault.

Oh, we know. He told us, FGS! I'm not worried about his motives. I'm worried that there are some who are not.

Very active on Gridr. Grindr is not for "scouting " gay locations. Its about sex and sex and then sex!

The equivelent of Grindr whatever they are called in hetero land are a lot more about maybe finding a spouse. The gay apps, just like in life (especially pre aids) are much more focused on having some sex , and never really seeing the person agian.

It seems they are releasing electronic stuff slowly, or they were saying chat rooms when it really meant Grindr??

Apparently fascinated with transgendered.

I think on the gay side CNN (just casue of Andersoo and Don) will flesh out more of the gay stuff just casue they know how it works moo
CNN
CARIIS, do you have any thoughts on why no one has come forward to say they actually "hooked up" with him? With media outlets paying for interviews and peoples desire for their 15 minutes, I expected to hear from some of his sex partners by now.

He had been in the bar for hours, has a drinking issue , imo he was probably drunk! A fanatrical person, even when drunk , would be able to keep up with who they hate!!

moo

Once again, will you PLEASE provide the links to back this up?

Oh, we know. He told us, FGS! I'm not worried about his motives. I'm worried that there are some who are not.

Crazy isn't it? The guy is calling 911 to tell them this is for ISIS, calling TV stations and friends to tell them, posting it on Facebook and screaming Alluha Akbar during the attack while again reiterating this was for ISIS and people are saying "We can't ask him why he did it, and there is no real PROOF that he did this for ISIS, so we'll just never know!".

If this shooter had been white and so much as hinted that he did this because he is racist, or a christian conservative people would accept that in a heartbeat! No way would ANYONE say "Well I am sure racism wasn't REALLY the motive, he is just mentally ill, so let's disregard all that racism or far right non-sense".

He was investigated for his communications with American suicide bomber Abu Salha. Funny how Mateens wife was also Palestinian! As was her first husband, and she was married over there!

Coincidence? I don't think so.

The 29-year-old American citizen whose parents had immigrated from Afghanistan, had been in regular communication with Moner Mohammed Abu Salha, a fellow Floridian who was a member of al-Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra.

In early 2014, Mateen was put under surveillance for possible ties with Abu Salha, the son of a Palestinian father and American mother who left his home state to join jihadists in Syria.

Oh Good Lord. Fox news just reported that this 🤬🤬🤬 make SIXTEEN phone calls during a lull in the shooting.

And he posted days before the attack on his FB that only friends could read that an attack was imminent. None of those friends came forward. :(

The Orlando gunman who professed allegiance during the attack on a gay nightclub to the leader of the Islamic State militants also claimed ties to groups that have nothing to do with that organization, or are even at odds with it.

FBI Direction James Comey said those statements add to the confusion about why Omar Mateen opened fire inside Pulse nightclub Sunday, killing 49 people and injuring 53 others.

But such conflicting, jumbled loyalties aren't uncommon among terror suspects in the United States.

In the last year, several men who committed violence or attempted to under the purported mantle of the Islamic State militants were also found to have derived inspiration from other sources and had often been absorbing extremist ideologies well before IS emerged as a brand-name terror organization with its self-declared caliphate in 2014.

"As Orlando, Florida's, chief medical examiner, Dr. Joshua Stephany is used to gruesome scenes. But nothing in his 10-year career prepared him for what he saw inside the Pulse nightclub on Sunday morning after the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

As for the shooter, Stephany says, his body is still in the morgue, unclaimed."

Fox News: Charleston: Why didn't anyone help Dylann Roof?
We know, of course, that Roof expressed hateful white supremacist opinion. But we also know that psychiatrically ill people can channel their paranoia or depression or extreme self-loathing into bizarre beliefs that sometimes lead to the destruction of others. Those beliefs can look just like intense hatred — of a particular person or a whole race of people.

<snip>

There is reason to believe that if just one of the people in Dylann Roof’s life had called 911 to report that a family member of theirs (or a friend of theirs) who owned a gun and used drugs was speaking about starting a race war and killing himself, that Roof would have been picked up by police and transported to an emergency room. ... That could have led to him being admitted to a locked psychiatric unit, being detoxed from street drugs and being treated with the right psychiatric medicine. And, then, all this might not have happened.

I believe his issues started much earlier than when he beat his first wife. But, I agree. He was either born a psychopath and his environment was abusive. Religious abuse that pushed him over the edge. He had daddy issues. I'd go out on a limb and speculate he may have been molested by dear old dad, further creating internet conflict also taught to show no respect to women further alienating himself from any help. His issues whether mental illness, created by childhood abuse or a psychopath created the perfect storm.
