I remember reading about this horrible crime at the time it happened, but never looked for a thread. I'm about to start reading all of the second thread. I understand he is now blaming his wife. Sigh. Spending that long in the house with your dead family sounds hellish. Did they just outspend their income? I know it's too simple to describe it as been caused by finances, because there were so many other ways to deal with financial crisis.

You nailed it on the head.

Whether they were living outside their means before or after the alleged healthcare fraud began, it appears that AT used his family physical therapy “business to bill insurance companies for physical therapy sessions people did not receive.” AT also used the business to borrow “from 20 different lenders between 2015 and 2018[.] In one month in 2017 alone, the business had taken out nearly $100,000 in short term loans.”

In fact, the murders were only discovered when Osceola County deputies and federal agents went to the house to serve a warrant to arrest Todt on the federal healthcare fraud charges.

It seems like AT was paying for the family’s lifestyle through fraud and business loans, and, once the jig was up, he opted for familial massacre rather than letting his family know the truth, IMO.

There is one update on the Osceola County Clerk of the Circuit Court website:

2/2/2022 NOTICE OF DISCOVERY (SUPPLEMENTAL)

According to the document, the State made the following available to the defense:

1. PGS. 725-735 | Amazon Receipts & Item Detail Reports
2. PG. 736 | Letter from Harbor Claims - re: Restitution P & Y Dordoy, LLC

As an FYI, according to the Osceola County Clerk of the Circuit Court website, there was an eviction case with P & Y Dordoy, LLC as the plaintiff and the Todts as defendants (2019 CC 004078 EV). The case was filed on 12/23/2019 (prior to the discovery of the murders) and the complaint (submitted on 12/22/2019), among other things, states that the Todts entered into a one-year lease with the plaintiff commencing May 1, 2019. Further, the Todts failed to pay monthly rent in the amount of $4,921 that was due on December 1, 2019. The plaintiff served the Todts with a three-day notice on December 15, 2019 to pay rent or give possession. The notice was posted on the premises in the tenant’s absence. A summons was emailed to the Todts’ attorney on 12/26/2019. On January 16, 2020, three days after the bodies were found, the plaintiff issued an ex parte emergency motion to enter and take possession of the premises, which was approved. The remainder of the eviction court activity is not relevant to the murders, but you can look it up in more detail on the court website if you are curious.

Florida prosecutors may call over 70 witnesses in Todt trial

SBM/BBM

Prosecutors may call more than 70 witnesses to help argue their case against Anthony Todt, the former Colchester physical therapist charged with killing his wife, children and family dog in Florida more than two years ago.

The lengthy list — obtained by The Day from the Office of the State Attorney of the 9th Judicial District of Osceola County, Florida — includes more than 45 people from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, a veterinarian, the Todts' former landlord, an Amazon employee, a few federal investigators and at least seven people from the District 9 Medical Examiner’s Office in Orlando.

Earlier this month, a civil suit was filed by Bank of America against Anthony Todt, Megan Todt, their three children, Megan Todt’s estranged mother, GG, and others who may have claims to their estate, for unpaid mortgage on the Todts' Celebration, Fla., home.

The Todts were in considerable debt at the time of the homicides. The couple owned a condo […] in Celebration and were being evicted from a home they rented in the same neighborhood — the home in which the bodies were found — for failing to pay rent.

The bank is asking the court to foreclose on the mortgage, sell the property and determine whether any parties have claim to the property.

[…]

Federal charges also were brought against Todt, who had owned a now-closed physical therapy practice in Colchester, over an alleged yearslong health care fraud scheme. That case has been put on hold as he awaits trial on the murder charges.

[…]

The trial is set to begin April 4, following a series of delays that have pushed the start of jury selection off for months. It originally was scheduled to start in September 2021.

It was more than just a financial crisis. Todt was about to be arrested by the Feds for Medicare fraud in his Chiropractor business. This, combined with the fact he was facing eviction from the Florida home where he murdered his family. In my opinion these combined to be the precipitating crisis that led him to murder his family.

But in addition to that, he had a horrible family history of violence (his father was convicted of hiring a hit man to kill his mother when he was a kid and Tony witnessed the attempted "hit".)

Man’s insurance fraud scheme led investigators to Celebration home where family was found slain, court records say

Florida neighbors of physical therapist who murdered his family tell of their shock | Daily Mail Online

Link that includes mentions Todt's father's hiring of hitman to kill wife (Tony's mother):

Law and Crime Daily had an update on this case today. The prosecution is attempting to block the use of the insanity defense by Todt, by filing a motion to limit the use of evidence of Todt’s mental status. The jury selection is set to start on April 4th.

Todt segment starts @ 10:54

My speakers blew out - would this be the same motion - this is what I have in my notes:
3/9/22: Notice of hearing-State's Motion in Limine, regarding diminished capacity or mental health issues of the defendant.

Or is the one you mentioned a different motion? TIA! :)
