I also thought LE was searching ? I hate the idea he left her out in the elements and they find her? Miya is literally too close to home for me - makes me so angry our girls cannot be safe …

From what I just read via the family (again FB so no link), the police ended the search for this evening (the post wasn't clear if all searches including police-led were ended for this evening or if the police just ended the family's search) but the family plans to meet again at 8 a.m. to resume searching.

Since we know he was inside her apartment at 4:30 - what if he had stuff ready to block her bedroom door (dresser in position) and she goes in to change after work and he moves whatever to block that exit then he attacks her near the bed - she fights back - and he exits through the window with her?

Yes, I'm going with that one. Although, now I think about it, she could have screamed and he panicked, subdued her and blocked the door to give himself a head start fearing someone might come and check on her.

Wonder if he planned on killing her. The process of blocking doors and going in at 4.30 lying in wait was obviously pre-planned.


I know she may still be alive but it doesn't look good.

Apparently this family, including Miya, is very well-known in the Soca community, which I've learned is a form of music in the Trinidadian/Caribbean population and is apparently similar to calypso. Her father is a popular DJ and her mother is a famous entertainer among many other things. Their community is coming together to search for Miya despite many of them living in the Miami area.

I keep going over this sentence. It sounds like they're saying the door was blocked TO her bedroom, to me it sounds like when you enter the bedroom( from the outside)It could just be the wording but I'm trying to figure WHY unless she blocked him in the bedroom and he went out the window and then came back around or something. Do we know what floor she lived on? I tried looking for media pics but didn't come across any. All IMO

2. Removes body out of the window ( we don't know what time that could have happened but I highly doubt it was immediate since she got off work around 5pm and he IIRC was in there at 4:30pm)

He could have blocked it from the inside to keep her in and we don't know how long this ordeal lasted so I get that but how did he get her out. I'm still not sure what floor she lives yet. All IMO

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Miya Marcano, 19, was last seen at the Arden Villas apartments around 5 p.m., which is located near the University of Central Florida.

Marcano is described as being 5 feet tall and weighing 130 pounds.

The sheriff’s office said they are “actively investigating.”

Anyone with information is asked to call (407) 836-4357 or 911 if you see her.

Back in 2012, I see she was 2nd runner up in a Virgin Islands pageant. Talented and beautiful girl.

Marcano's father Marlon Marcano spoke to WESH 2 outside of the apartment complex Saturday. He said his daughter lived and worked for the apartment complex in the leasing office. The father said he spoke with his daughter Friday afternoon, but didn't hear from her when she got off work. He said Marcano was scheduled to catch a flight to her family's home later that night, but said she never boarded the plane.

"A big issue that people who recently moved in have had is that the gate that we have is not always closed and people would like it to always be closed," resident at the apartment complex Asia Owens said. "I think especially after this, I would agree with them on that."

Eta: I do hope all the apartment’s maintenance crews have been spoken to.

Reading reviews of the apartments tells me there are trash bins located near the front gate and that it does have:

She was going to visit her parents so likely had the suitcase in her bedroom ready. If she lives on the second floor, he could have thrown the suitcase out of the window, then climbs out after it. Maybe?

Sorry I haven't got round to looking at the images so not sure how high they are and if it's doable?

ETA: I've just looked at the images of Arden villas and if her apartment overlooked the pool, then there is an outside staircase leading down to the 1st floor.

@Allabouttrial that makes me think she's on the 1st floor. the suitcase could explain the room being in disarray , clothes everywhere which I believe was mentioned earlier. 2nd floor means he's hoping the suitcase won't break and he won't get injured. He is an athletic guy so maybe.

I just had a look at the images and amended my original p0st as at the back of the apartments overlooking the pool there is a stairway.

Good point about the contents of the case perhaps making the room look in disarray!

Oh such sad news. Where is poor Miya? Man I wish the POI would have left a suicide note that told LE those details. I can't imagine the pain Miya's family is going through right now.

I noticed on this flyer it mentions that "she was thought to have showered before she was taken"? Wonder why they thought this - were wet towels found in the bathroom etc.? Did he hide in the apartment and wait for her to get in the shower? IF there were wet towels did HE take a shower to remove evidence?

Wayyy too much speculation swirling in my little mind tonight!

In the press conference the Sheriff said the POI had only worked at the apartments since June. It would be interesting to know where he worked previously and if there were any "incidents" there (also with any ex GF). As in any previous harassment/stalker claims?

I'm no good with court records but this looks like there was a 2013 arrest, then a violation of parole 2017. Hopefully someone here can come up with better and more complete info:

I know, I saw those too online but we don't know where her apt was actually located and if there were stairs. That's all I was asking. Your original post said there were stairs. I may have misread.
