I hate saying this. But I wonder about the dumpsters at the complex where they found him. I mean, why go there? Of all the places he could have gone, he chose his former place of employment. Police need to check into those dumpsters. Also, there is the state park. He wouldn't have gone to the high-traffic parts of the park. But he might have gone into a more secluded area. Sabal Point Sanctuary is the first place I'd check.

It seems when she wasn’t on the flight. They were probably concerned beforehand as she wasn’t in communication- as it sounds like she frequently was - but then sounded the alarm. 5 pm to at least 10:30 pm is a big chunk of time. It sounds like maybe he was on shift as well so was there when police arrived to ask around - but that must have been before 10:30 or maybe just after? Maybe he was working an evening shift? It seems her apartment was not checked on Friday evening before she missed the flight or maybe it was?
What’s odd to me is that the POI wasn’t going to be announced until yesterday at the press conference but surely the police knew before Monday morning that her apartment was accessed by someone else on Friday afternoon? I’m surprised they didn’t put out an alert before then - it makes sense then that there family and friends were saying they weren’t happy with the way the case had been handled before the presser.
Lots of unknowns and what if’s here. This could be hard for her loved ones to come to term with because of all of this.

This is so sad and reminds me of Lauren Giddings. Her killer was caught and imprisoned though. However, she was dismembered and only part of her body was found. So very sad that these girls were not safe in their own homes! Praying for her family today! Prayers that she is found.

What's helpful is that Miya wasn't the kind of person to NOT contact her family regularly. However, I am curious to know the time of death of the POI and where it fits in to the whole timeline. That may absolutely help locate Miya, jmo.

What time did the POI shift end? Was he actually on shift that day? Was he supposed to be there that day? I'm assuming so since it was never mentioned he was on property on his day off. Did he have to leave her somewhere until his shift was finished? I think I read the cops questioned him on Friday so that would be mean he would have had to attack her and move her and then report back to work all without anyone noticing. So maybe he did put her in his car until he was off work. Where to after that? Did he go straight to the other complex?

Miya had reportedly told friends that Caballero had been texting her excessively and she asked him to stop. After stopping, he reportedly started back up again.

"She did tell them that he made her feel uncomfortable," her cousin said.

Deputies spent all weekend trying to track down Caballero. Seminole County deputies eventually found him dead at around 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning outside some apartments on Sabal Lake Drive in Longwood.

The apartment she lived in is considered high-end off-campus student housing. These types of corporate properties are in every college town/city. In some cases, you don't have to be a student to be a resident but most are because it's considered to be "student housing".

A resident pays for a room in the condo or townhome and shares the common areas of the apartment with two or three others. Typically, each bedroom has their own bathroom. Sometimes the "roommates" know each other beforehand but often they don't.

All that said, I wonder where her roommates were when this occurred. And I have to say I'm surprised that a background check for the employee did not raise red flags when he applied.

I mentioned last night - how long is "quite some time" in FL - was he found inside an apartment - some reports say yes - his car was there. Knowing time of death would narrow the search radius I would think..

I have a 20 year old daughter who is a college student but lives at home. This case is a parent's worst nightmare. It has led me to researching home security systems that are available for apartment renters and, needless to say, my daughter will be getting one when she moves out. We have a ring doorbell and an alarm system at home, but there are some other brands that are designed specifically for renters in mind since they probably have limitations to what can be physically installed.

Praying for Miya.

Oh such sad news. Where is poor Miya? Man I wish the POI would have left a suicide note that told LE those details. I can't imagine the pain Miya's family is going through right now.

I noticed on this flyer it mentions that "she was thought to have showered before she was taken"? Wonder why they thought this - were wet towels found in the bathroom etc.? Did he hide in the apartment and wait for her to get in the shower? IF there were wet towels did HE take a shower to remove evidence?

Wayyy too much speculation swirling in my little mind tonight!

In the press conference the Sheriff said the POI had only worked at the apartments since June. It would be interesting to know where he worked previously and if there were any "incidents" there (also with any ex GF). As in any previous harassment/stalker claims?

I'm no good with court records but this looks like there was a 2013 arrest, then a violation of parole 2017. Hopefully someone here can come up with better and more complete info:

I wonder about the key. Do they have to turn them in at the end of their shift? I think they get to keep the key. Most maintenance workers that I know get to keep the key in case of emergency or whatever. Are their maintenance guys on property all day or is this a On-Call basis kind of job? They call you when there is a problem?

She did not arrive on her scheduled flight Friday evening. I'm now thinking they did not speak to the POI until Saturday? he knew he was caught and went to hide out before killing himself ? so dead saturday night? found monday morning?

I know a lot about these types of properties. My daughter worked for several in AZ and CA. They're very professional and the management is salaried employees. But the leasing agents or assistants are not salaried jobs, necessarily.

There are cameras everywhere but his presence anywhere on the property would not be questioned at any time.

I was thinking the very same thing last night - I have ring cameras inside my house (my little rescue loves destroying my pillows) and they are wonderful. $50 at Home depot and they plug in - app is on my iphone and i can hear and talk through them. If the kid is concerned about privacy - when they are home they can unplug them or block the camera view. Of course, if he entered her apartment more than once and she had a camera - he may have found it. So I would have mine embed it in a plant or something. So much to worry about.
