Florida - Coronavirus Covid-19 #2

Update just received call
The one that was exposed by co-worker at end of June.
Just got POSITIVE TEST RESULTS.
He is in his early 30's. He lives in North Carolina and traveled to attend the FL. Family Beach July 4th.
He was tested Monday in FL. Today's results makes 1 more in FL.

However he brought it from NC.

He and his wife will be quarantined at the family beach house on the Atlantic Coast.

Other family members 8 more at at home under quarantine.

This has changed their thinking on Covid 19 now.

My prayers are with them.
This was a state to state.

Stay safe
Peace my friends
Steph/out
8 family members plus every person he interacted with while traveling. Sigh. I hope he wore a mask while traveling. Keeping my fingers crossed he is able to shake it and all the others too. Keep us posted.

How to make Disney safer? Umm, don't go. Sorry for the folks who work there. But it really isn't any "Social Responsibility" to go to Disney World.

I guess that they just want to get Covid as soon as possible.

Can’t say as I blame them. Impeding traffics does not equate to peaceful protest.

Police in this Florida city will start fining protesters who block traffic

Police in St. Petersburg, Fla., said they will start fining protesters who block traffic during demonstrations this week following tense and dangerous standoffs between activists and drivers around the country.

Officers will be enforcing laws already on the books – and the St. Petersburg Police Department said Wednesday it would first begin a public awareness campaign by issuing warnings and handing out flyers.

COVID-19 data reporting by Florida is unreliable

This is even worse than I thought. Apparently, the data collection of Covid cases in Florida, conveniently ignores data from jails and prisons!!! What?! That data is not included! Florida has one of the largest prison systems, and the people incarcerated, are "people". The number of Covid cases needs to be included.

Again, this confirms my ongoing mantra that the data is essentially useless, if they are going to pick and choose what data to include!

As far as data is concerned, it isn’t easy to find. The individual who was in charge of Florida’s COVID-19 data, Rebekah Jones, was allegedly fired after refusing to alter virus data to justify reopening. There have been attacks on her character that may or may not be true. Regardless, multiple MSM sources have noted the lack of appropriate data from the state of Florida following her firing. She now runs an alternate Florida COVID-19 data website that has more data. It has been linked and quoted by my local newspaper, the Palm Beach Post. See The Palm Beach Post: Local & World News, Sports & Entertainment in West Palm Beach, FL - many articles are behind a paywall. Her website is Florida COVID Action

One holdback from the state has been the availability of ICU beds, which has been flushed out for some locations by MSM. In my county, Palm Beach County, the major hospitals have once again canceled elective surgery to preserve ICU beds.

As inaction and demands for opening schools continues, I consider myself doomed. I am over 60 and have asthma. Cases have tripled in my once-quiet zip code..

Florida coronavirus: 120 new deaths reported

The Florida Department of Health reported nearly 9,000 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday as the statewide death toll topped 4,000.

Another 8,935 new cases were reported Thursday bringing the total case count to 232,718.

The state has tested a total of 2,359,636 people. Of the tests, 232,718 have come back positive.

The percent positivity for new cases – the number of people who tested positive for the first time divided by all the people tested that day – was 18.39% on Wednesday.

The total percent positive of all tests – including people who have been tested on multiple days – was 20.72%.

It never ceases to amaze me how dumb people can be, not only the ones making it and the ones buying it!

Florida family accused of selling a bleachlike coronavirus 'cure' faces federal charges

A Florida family is facing federal charges after allegedly marketing a COVID-19 cure called "Miracle Mineral Solution," which was actually bleach and life-threatening if consumed.

The Grenons - father Mark and sons Jonathan, Jordan and Joseph - were charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to violate the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, and criminal contempt on Wednesday, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.

The DOJ described "Miracle Mineral Solution" (MMS) as a "chemical solution containing sodium chlorite and water," adding that the Grenons "allegedly directed their customers to ingest MMS orally, which causes the solution to become chlorine dioxide, a powerful bleach, typically used for industrial water treatment or bleaching textiles, pulp, and paper."

The family claimed that the solution could cure, treat and prevent COVID-19, but the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hasn't approved it to treat COVID-19 or any other illness. In fact, the FDA has urged people not consume it, saying that "drinking MMS is the same as drinking bleach and can cause dangerous side effects, including severe vomiting, diarrhea, and life-threatening low blood pressure."

According to court filings, before the pandemic, the Grenons marketed MMS as a cure for many other serious diseases, including Alzheimer's, autism, multiple sclerosis and HIV/AIDS.

That reminds me of "Amway". My friend used to sell that stuff. It says it does "everything". Clean the dog, dishes, carpet, sprinkle it on your food..whatever.

What is the "line" for kinfolk? My husband's first wife's brother and his wife live in FL, and they would like to come "visit". Or rather, "Covid Refuge". I guess that they will come, I am not crazy about it.

Grrr...that’s sounding a bit familiar isn’t it?

Florida’s coronavirus death rate is trending up again after rising hospitalizations

The rate of daily coronavirus deaths reported by the state of Florida has begun to tick up again for the first time since May, a trend that was apparent even before Thursday’s announcement of a record 120 COVID deaths, following weeks of rising hospitalizations.

Public health experts and coronavirus data researchers say it’s still too early to tell just how bad the rise in deaths will get. But the increase was predictable, said Eric Topol, head of the Scripps Research Translational Institute in San Diego.

“Florida is running away with new cases, so you’d expect this to happen,” Topol said. “There are the denialists who say these people are younger ... and all these theories, but if [the rise in deaths] didn’t happen, you’d start to wonder what’s going on regarding how the deaths are being tallied.”
....
Even amid a surge that has captured the country’s attention, Florida’s governor has yet to start releasing COVID-19 hospitalization numbers statewide, though a spokesperon for Gov. Ron DeSantis said last week that the state would start doing so. Miami-Dade County releases those figures daily.

Topol, the Scripps researcher, called the lack of information “absolutely deplorable,” adding that the “sad part about Florida is they’re the only state [experiencing a surge] that doesn’t share current hospitalization data.”

Nah. I want to come up to where you are. It’s cooler! LOL!!!

That is for sure. This has been a very cool summer. Our cat gets her annual bath when it hits 90, and it hasn't hit 90 yet!

We are going to move the goal post to 80 now.

Personally, I can't imagine anything more miserable than Disney World in Orlando in July. Unless it is adding wearing a mask to that mix.

@mickey it’s miserable here... hot, hot, hot and lots of rain!! Just wearing a mask going from my car into the grocery store is stifling. I can’t imagine all day outside @ Disney. It was miserable going there in the summer before... even worse now with a mask. I feel sorry for the workers.

I really need to move back up north. I miss the cold.

I lived in West Palm Beach and Miami, I couldn't stand it. It rains there, and gets hotter. WTH?! It was fun, but I didn't consider staying there forever. But I loved the people, my job, made lots of friends.

Living there was fun. And it was great for my kids. Beach, every day. Multi-cultural and diversity. And then, we moved home. I don't miss the weather. I would rather have snow, than the hot weather.

Two sweet little boys, so sad. They should be out playing this summer. Not succumbing to this horrible virus. I thought remdesivir was ruled out as not being helpful???

Florida Experiences Largest One-Day Spike In Coronavirus Deaths

MIAMI, FL — Florida reported its largest one-day spike of new coronavirus-related deaths Thursday amid a new surge of 8,935 more cases of the virus as a second 11-year-old child reportedly died from the illness in South Florida.

WPLG-TV identified the child as Yansi Ayala of Fort Lauderdale, who reportedly died Wednesday at Broward Health Medical Center. Last week an 11-year-old boy became the youngest person in Florida to die from the illness in nearby Miami-Dade County. Both children had underlying health issues.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he is working with Vice President Mike Pence and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar to obtain an expedited shipment of remdesivir, an experimental antiviral medicine developed by Gilead Sciences, that has been in short supply throughout the state.

That is sad. "Underlying health issues". I wonder what they were.

I think that they don't know what works or doesn't work, so they try whatever...however, ingesting bleach does not work.

Stories like this, must be so scary for parents of children. Or, alternatively, they shrug, and go to Disney World.

A virus that kills off elderly, disabled, medically fragile, and disproportionately affects minorities. And healthy people can seemingly have the disease with no symptoms to spread it. If you were to develop the "perfect" biological weapon, it couldn't have been designed any better.

But of course, it is all from eating bat meat. Who the heck would want to eat a bat? They are small, no fat, look quite bony.

OMG. It took deaths to get the FDA to intervene?? Pinellas County on the west coast by Tampa.

U.S. Attorney’s Office releases more info on Bradenton church arrests

The FDA issued an injunction in April, after receiving reports of people requiring hospitalizations, developing life-threatening conditions, and dying after drinking the solution, but the organization did not comply

“We’re very happy that they got caught but we’ve been reporting to the FDA, Department of Justice, DEA, for years and no one really did anything. They put out warnings and that’s it. But as soon as none disabled people are affected, that’s when they took action,” said Fierce Autistics and Allies Organization Director, Amanda Seigler.

Another scarey day in Florida, folks:

WFTV-Orlando reports at noon-

11,458 NEW cases since yesterday

244,151 total cases statewide

93 new deaths overnight

Too bad, DeSantis doesn't actually DO something instead of holding excuse making
press conferences each day. They're a waste
of just his gibberish of minute details to sound like he's an expert.
We don't want or need statistics.
We want action that slows the spread.
his PC today is reportedly to make "a major announcement".
Florida reports more than 11,400 new COVID-19 cases, second-highest ever daily increase

oh phooey, looks like the "big announcement" is for new electric charging stations along the interstates in Fl.
So much for containing the pandemic.
