it was a cambioian restaruant so they are doing all kinds of thought out stuff , the games tonight, an american band , the two teams that were playing ...we all have to start to get what they were doing

, at some level its better (sounds nuts) but now I think it was planned , who knows , firdday the 13th , but is seems like it was not only about yesterday, which in some way is easier for me

Has anything more been heard of the reported shootings at Les Halles and the Louvre? They seem to have dropped out of the news.
I am wondering about this as well ... especially given the reports that there are up to 12 attackers. Five are dead and one was captured at the Bataclan Theater (it was reported that there were 6 terrorists there). There are also reports of at least two suicide bombers.

This is an important thread and I hope it won't get shut down. Take a breath, friends :)

ETA There are political threads downstairs where you can debate until the cows come home .

As bad as this is,
There is no comparison in regards to death toll and physical damage.

I do not think the 9/11 attacks should EVER be compared to ANYTHING less horrific.

As awful as this is, we're talking less then 200 dead, versus nearly 3 THOUSAND.

No comparison Geraldo.

Agree. 9/11 woke us up out of dreaming that it can't happen here. My hometown lost thousands of lives that day within 15 minutes or so. Which is why I don't mind our government flagging everyone and everything. Jmo.

My brother's friend, through business, texted him expressing she hopes she can go outside tomorrow. He thought she was in Switzerland but, it turns out, she is visiting Paris.
Before he realized her current location, he texted back inquiring as to why she wouldn't be able to go out tomorrow?
He had been working and wasn't aware the attacks were going on.
At least she is safe now. Talk about communication breakdown!

That's so cheap of him. And it's not like France has never been attacked by terrorists before.

To me it doesn't matter how many died either. Even if 3,000 did die tonight they're different events and there's no comparison.

Yes it is.

Terrorists slaughter at least 118 in Paris music hall, 40 others in separate attacks

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/11/13/french-police-report-shootout-and-explosion-in-paris/

Terrorists wielding AK-47s and hurling explosives executed at least 118 people inside a Paris concert hall late Friday night, in a massacre that followed coordinated attacks that killed at least 40 more people, rocking the French capital -- prompting President Francois Hollande to close the entire nation's borders and order a state of emergency.

The victims had gathered to see the American rock band Eagles of Death Metal, and a handful managed to escape to tell of the horror taking place inside where the killers shouted "This is for Syria!" and "Alahu Akhbar!" as they cut down patrons from a balcony before the band took the stage.

How many USA citizens could be injured or dead or misplaced tonight?

I worked in a job during 9/11 and the long aftermath that afforded me the privilege of being in contact with folks around the world.

To a person, speaking to me from more countries than I could keep track of, the message was identical- how horrible. We are in shock for you. We grieve with you.

Not once did I hear- well, that's what happens when you let Muslims fly into your country, or, blame it on your president or representives or policies or excessive freedoms.

How many people have to be murdered in a terrorist attack abroad for Americans to have the good grace to simply express horror and sympathy, at least on the night of these massacres?

Doesn't have to be about numbers. It's about terror. I would be just as frightened tonight to be in Paris as I would have been in New York on 9/11.

I agree there isn't a comparison. They are just different attacks. One is not worse or less worse.
