This series of coordinated attacks in Paris is, IMO, going to lead to a lot of EU borders closing to all asylum seekers for some time to come.
What I'm worried about, as well, is the opportunity this offers to those right wing vigilante groups across the EU who have been more and more vocal in their complaints about certain groups being given special treatment for cultural sensitivities that, in their opinion, negatively impact the resident host communities in which those immigrants now reside.

The head of the Paris police, Michel Cadot, has revealed the attackers of the Bataclan concert hall, where up to a hundred people were killed, blew themselves with explosive belts up as police closed in on their positions.
He said the attackers had shot up cafes in the surrounding areas with automatic rifles before going inside the concert hall.
He added that all of those who attacked the Bataclan concert hall are dead, but authorities remain on the hunt for accomplices. The whereabouts of the other gunmen are not unknown.

Every time I hear about a terrorist attack or spree killing, they raised red flags. People who knew them would say there was something off about them.

I would not be surprised to hear about them.

Parisians use #PorteOuverte to offer shelter to those in need

"In the wake of deadly attacks in Paris, residents of the city took to social media to open up their homes to those in need of shelter. Using the hashtag #PorteOuverte, which translates to “Open Door,” Parisians who were in their homes began offering to shelter any tourists or Parisians who needed a place of shelter in the aftermath of the deadly attacks."

From my sister in Nice:

Planned and co-ordinated attacks

Approx 120 killed, 200 injured and
80 seriously injured

At least 7 attackers (3 exploded suicide belts,1 or 2 other(s) killed)
PM says all threats neutralised

State of emergency declared

Details still sketchy

Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, and Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia (currently in Berlin) to hold pressers soon.

I must have stated something offensive in a post I made because it never showed up and it was waiting on moderation. Whatever it was, I certainly did not mean to be offensive. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Paris and all of France.

I was watching the news when all of this was announced as happening right then. I continued to watch in horror as it all unfolded.

Of course we do not understand terrorists or think like them. What evil is in the terrorists' hearts to make them destroy on such a massive level? Even as I typed that I know none of us have that answer.

Again, GB the people of France!

MOO

As bad as this is,
There is no comparison in regards to death toll and physical damage.

I do not think the 9/11 attacks should EVER be compared to ANYTHING less horrific.

As awful as this is, we're talking less then 200 dead, versus nearly 3 THOUSAND.

No comparison Geraldo.

Somehow I think the parents of all those young people killed in the theater tonight might feel differently. Actually, the loved ones of all those killed and maimed tonight will feel differently. In my mind it's not about numbers. It's about hate. It's about terror, and it's changed their lives, their world forever. Compassion, it's a good thing.

Update: What we know so far
Up to 150 people are believed to have been killed in a wave of terrorist attacks across Paris.
More than a hundred hostages were taken at the Bataclan theatre, 112 are believed to have been killed.
Three attackers blew themselves up with explosive belts inside the theatre, two kilometres from Notre Dame Cathedral.
Attacks were carried out at a further five locations, including the Stade de France where a major international friendly football match was taking place between France and Germany. French President Francois Hollande was evacuated from the scene.
More than 20 people have been shot dead at a bar and restaurant around the 11th arrondissement.
The gunmen at the five other locations have been been killed, according to police, but they remain on the hunt for accomplices.

I think you guys can indulge me for a moment while I offer a few prayerful thoughts for the dead and their families; and for the wounded and critically injured, that their physical suffering might be eased, their bodies healed quickly, and their psychic pain short-lived.
