I wouldn't call it poignant since the son was one of the gunmen at the concert.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...her-tried-extract-son-isis-syria-samy-amimour

The father of one of the gunmen who killed scores of concert-goers in Paris had tried unsuccessfully last year to bring his son back from Syria where he had joined Islamic State (Isis).

Mohamed Amimour, 67, spoke about his failed attempt to extract his son, Samy, from the control of Isis commanders, telling the French newspaper Le Monde afterwards how he had been greeted with coldness and “a distant sort of smile”.

If you look at it through the eyes of the father it is poignant. He has the added stress of not only losing his son but feeling guilt because he couldn't stop him.

Then you know after a couple days one of the refugees left and CC doesn't know where the person went?

Good to see you popsicle. Exactly and that's my worry for the influx expected in Canada. I worry about the screening and the fact that nobody will be aware of who goes where and when. I feel for the refugees and want to help them. Yet not at a cost of any lives here. So torn......sigh

What should we do? Where should we put the refugees? I do understand that people are afraid, that we have a lot of issues in this country that needs attention, and how is this country going to take care and vet each and everyone of the refugees? What kills me is seeing post after post on my facebook timeline from people I do know and people I don't know that are so callous and cruel, I don't think they realize that when their loved ones are killed they grieve just like the rest of us. And I won't lie, I've fallen into the trap of being afraid myself, even though during the years I've met and had friends that were Muslim, one family being one of the kindest I've ever met. I don't think there is a solution, I'm open to listening, but I'm afraid leaders don't have a clue to what exactly they should do. My one grandpa was born and raised in Belgium before the family came to Michigan, and my other grandpa was French. I have wanted to go visit and see the countries for myself, and I'm not a person that hides in fear, but I would be concerned going there now.

I would bet he didn't report it either.
So I don't feel for the father at all! JMO

Years ago watched the documentary "God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of Lost Boys of Sudan", about three refugees from Sudan. In it the men do not have that long to acclimate to their new environment before they must find jobs. Here it says it is that way for all refugees.

http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2015/11/syrian_refugee_controversy_how.html

It's crucial for refugees to get a job as soon as possible, because they don't receive much money. Each individual gets an up-front, one-time allowance of $1,125 from the federal government, which Catholic Charities uses to help set up their housing. From there, they may receive refugee cash assistance of $335 per month for as long as eight months. Depending on employment status and whether they have children, the refugees might also be eligible for food stamps.

Ponderings ....

It just occurred to me all this "rampped up security" if you think about , if one has two legs and a suicide bomb on them .......................

Also this has been called called complicated, casue it was coordinated, how much do you really need to blow yourself up and aim guns at people?

It seems the foucus is off , energy should be spent to foil as suppossed to thinking our guys standing around with guns, if they have suicide vests the guys in guns really mean not a whole lot no?

It's brave of him to share the specific of his experience. I hope he keeps going and tells other parents, especially everything that could help LE, what he took from his experience and what he could have done differently that could have made a difference, to help.

Associated Press reports French Authorities are seeking a second fugitive, who has been ID'd.

French soccer player who lost his cousin in the attacks will play, as will another whose sister survived the attacks, in the French/British game.

Details scarce on second fugitive

Lately I've been pondering all the places someone wearing a suicide vest can go and kill a large number of people without having to worry about security or metal detectors. A 12yo could make a pipe bomb, including the gunpowder!

We need to get ahead of this.
