Sweden's status as rape capital of the world may be in jeopardy

Must admit I had never heard of this before, believing that would mean Sweden is 30 times higher than India- rape capital of the world and I haven't got time to dig into the research on this but I did find this in a BBC News article:

- 63 countries don't even submit their stats - SAfrica being one- so it can't be highest in WORLD
-surveys suggest that as few as one in 10 cases are ever reported to the police, in many countries.
-women in Sweden report a high number of offences and rape is defined differently - see below
-Comparing crime rates across countries is fraught with difficulties - it explains why below
- There has been a rise certainly

But that is a misconception, according to Klara Selin, a sociologist at the National Council for Crime Prevention in Stockholm. She says you cannot compare countries' records, because police procedures and legal definitions vary widely.
"In Sweden there has been this ambition explicitly to record every case of sexual violence separately, to make it visible in the statistics," she says.
"So, for instance, when a woman comes to the police and she says my husband or my fiance raped me almost every day during the last year, the police have to record each of these events, which might be more than 300 events. In many other countries it would just be one record - one victim, one type of crime, one record."
The thing is, the number of reported rapes has been going up in Sweden - it's almost trebled in just the last seven years. In 2003, about 2,200 offences were reported by the police, compared to nearly 6,000 in 2010.
So something's going on.
But Klara Selin says the statistics don't represent a major crime epidemic, rather a shift in attitudes. The public debate about this sort of crime in Sweden over the past two decades has had the effect of raising awareness, she says, and encouraging women to go to the police if they have been attacked.
The police have also made efforts to improve their handling of cases, she suggests, though she doesn't deny that there has been some real increase in the number of attacks taking place - a concern also outlined in an Amnesty International report in 2010.
"There might also be some increase in actual crime because of societal changes. Due to the internet, for example, it's much easier these days to meet somebody, just the same evening if you want to. Also, alcohol consumption has increased quite a lot during this period.
"But the major explanation is partly that people go to the police more often, but also the fact that in 2005 there has been reform in the sex crime legislation, which made the legal definition of rape much wider than before.
The change in law meant that cases where the victim was asleep or intoxicated are now included in the figures. Previously they'd been recorded as another category of crime.
So an on-the-face-of-it international comparison of rape statistics can be misleading"

Not sure if this was posted already...

Al Qaeda suicide bomber takes out leadership of key ISIS brigade

The Nov. 15 bombing came at a top-level meeting of the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade, a key ISIS militia known for its bloody and vicious hold over parts of the Golan Heights. Six of the group’s top men were killed, including Muhammad "Abu Ali" al-Baridi, the shadowy head of the group who went by the nickname “The Uncle.”

or you can just believe this if your prefer :"The foreign rape figures at 77.6% Muslim has been anonymously confirmed by Swedish polish in a phone conversation...Sweden: 77% of rapes committed by 2% Muslim male population" https://muslimstatistics.wordpress....slim-males-making-up-2-percent-of-population/

remember the saying: "there's lies, damned lies and statistics"

Statistically speaking both can be true:

A. Sweden collects the most recorded rapes

AND

B. Vast mayority of rapes in Sweden is committed by a small population

A and B are not mutually exclusive.

Wondering if the crowded conditions in the camps are contributing to the perception by some, that certain groups may be more prone to committing sex assaults?
If indeed that is occurring to single women and children, does that mean many might have become pregnant?
Is birth control available at the camps?
imo, speculation.

"Rape and child abuse 'are rife in German refugee camps': Unsegregated conditions blamed as women are 'seen as fair game' in overcrowded migrant centres

Abuses said to be taking place among 5,000 migrants at camp in Giessen
Fear the number of unreported rapes and sexual assaults is significant
It may be taking place at overcrowded refugee centres across the country"

Pretty sure the "perception" is based on the crime statistics coming out of Sweden and other countries in the last few years.

And yet I found a quote (can't remember where now Cuz darn fone won't c/p) that was stated by U.S Forces in Baghdad. That "Turkish pilots were heard about 10 times on open frequency to the unknown aircraft to vacate Turkish airspace"

I'll see if I can find link again. :/

Spelling/typing threat level : One, or Blue, or Low - ran thro ugh spell-check

Problem solved! Cheap, faster than doing a strip show at the airport! Worldwide folks seem to be willing to be inconvenienced "for safety". Poof planes, trains, borders buses, ships. in one data base globally - fingerprints that's it!

Humm Jahrd Frious Fgsgou Gerfis I see that the fingers attached to your body indicate that you were Fksok Hfsdfji Herlj last time you were here-- , pls step out of the line.

Done!! Forge whatever you want. Anyone trying to travel with their fingertips chopped off are banned!

It would take time for the fingerprint data base.

In the USA we can find any car with a simple search of VIN number. The notion that we cant do that with travelers is questionable.

It also stretches simple logic - this "no credible threat" nonsense. Well, no one had any "credible" intel about one of the biggest, organized terrorist attacks since 9-11 a couple of weeks ago.

In addition , as time goes by the world is seeing more and more people involved in executing Paris - if there was no credible evidence in Paris, with a complicated deal - an individual that wants to walk around with bomb on his/ her stomach- the notion that we are going to be able to intervene is ......

We have been , in our terror alerts, green, orange blue sky-blue pink- meant nothing. Dogs all over airports don't smell terrorists - so the correlation there. as far as keeping us "safe" from terrorists-frankly, makes no sense!

A bunch of LE strolling about with huge guns will do nothing as far as suicide bombers - totally useless - can anyone anticipate, even tho they have a big gun from 80 feet away, at gate 4B, that someone is going to engage in an activity, in what is in reality, turning on a light-bulb.

It is the same as a speed trap , does it stop all speeders?

As Mali clearly indicates, that, internationally , there are huge holes as far as screening an airports goes.

So I don't get how all these folks who are preaching no "credible" threats, should mean anything meaningful. Be "vigilant" , can you imagine being vigilant with someone about to flip on the lamp?

Its political silliness. Am I saying don't travel - nah... I am saying drive to the airport, with the same awareness, you have that your automobile might be dangerous.

We don't expect "officials" to calm us down when opening our car doors ....cars have been killing homosapians for decades. This notion to proclaim that there are no dangers out there is an impossibility. Seat belts have helped, but telling drivers that a seat belt ( identical to "credible threat) translates to you will not be killed in a car is well, ludicrous.

Isis has been issuing videos for ages, a more relevant focus on this would be what % of IS video resulted in anything "occurring" --its BS. All those videos are the same as McDonald's claiming "we will love it".

"See something say something"is a nice catch phrase. How on earth -with airports slammed -are any of us going to determine if a bag is unaccompanied ? In an airport?

Now, I suppose, if one wanted to miss their flight and stare at the bag, for an hour, to see if it is non attached to a human - that would be vigilant, The reality of someone so stressed out being in airports these days, anyone is going to be staring at suitcases, missing their flight , they think might be abandoned, is pretty slim.

"See something say something" is just as silly at a huge parade. Who is going to be dealing with all the work getting there, looking around the floor while the parade is going by in front of them.. If I said to someone , wanna go to the parade and look at sidewalks around us for a couple of hours - pretty sure the answer will be, I will pass!

I would say if someone walked into a doctors office with a couple of suitcases the catch phrase might be meaningful!

If we look at the 16 year old who turned aviation upside down last week - if someone lit a firework at a parade, the amount of injuries from the resulting stampede? Both lone actors.

As far as "we wont let them intimate or impact our lives" a complete utilization of denial. 9-11 changed the entire aviation industry worldwide, we still have a nation with a "closed" sign on it. Tusinia closed its borders with Liberia yesterday. No impact!

We wont let them impact our lives. We are spending billions increasing bombing. We will not let them impact our lives - we are getting bigger deficits-that hugely impacts the world.

"We have increased the number of TSA in airports". It is the biggest travel day of the year. Having "more" ,fatigued, TSA employees on guard really does not mean a whole lot, nor is there any corrleation as it relates to increased staff related to security. Those staffing considerations were planned before the 13th. Releavance your honor!

Thanksgiving is , for those who already have issues with the West , is probably the holiday that makes them most nauseated - glutton, food , water, drink, while they are living in third world settings.

IMO, if we look around the world in last week (a lot of them don't get coverage in big countries - there certainly has been an lot of activity. Suicide bombers have come to big countries.

In sum, the reality is IMO , a greater chance of a terrorist attack in the worlds current state of being.............
