I don't think it's aways a 'professional' hitman. It's just someone trusted who's willing to do it this one time, for money.

Eg, Theresa Severs was killed by her husband's friend and an accomplice for $10,000. They'd never killed anyone before.

I honestly don't really know what to think

Anything is possible IMO.

Revenge, jealousy, money issue/s, even random.
This "overkill" makes me suspect severe MH issues, uncontrollable hatred and rage.
Or a hit by a merciless individual.
Maybe a novice.
Or there is a deranged killer lurking in the area.

Who knows?
Not us, surely.

I write about some theories,
but, really, I can't be sure of anything.

What happened to this poor woman is horrific.
I cannot imagine what her family, especially children are going through

Spouses are usually the first to be "x-rayed" by Police.

I guess the husband was thoroughly checked by Investigators.

He was never mentioned as a suspect/POI or whatever such a person is called in France.

He was never arrested.

Because the other dude is ten years older than me with the reputation of a womanizer and I hoped she'd come to her senses?). Doesn't look good. "Yes I knew but we had an open marriage", even worse. Maybe the less he says, the better it is.

One thing. In his FB, AC seems to be the person trying to pull his big family (wife, 3 kids and a stepson), living on different continents, together. He is the one posting photos of the kids. He didn't hire a lawyer. It is Monsieur JFG who immediately lawyered up and didn't say a word. It seems that AC would think of the kids.

Honestly, AC doesn't look the type to me but what do we know?

Maybe it was due to some property, some winery investment? Or - what do we know about South Africa? Some people moved in and invested into mines, or bought some good stocks. We don't know what property was divided, between whom and who else could be involved. Sometimes it is the family property that is hardly divisible, or a trust, and then one member wants to pull their share out.

In short, Dr. AC may have not been the only one not interested in the divorce.

Lastly, if JFG had another "ex" living in the village, and women were visiting him from EU it seems, who knows if it was not another "ex"? He is a wealthy widower.

JMO, even if it was an ordered hit, and even if an African man was involved, France is full of Africans from its former colonies. Senegal, Mali...most of Ivory Coast. It would be easier for a man from a former French colony to settle in France. South Africa was never the one.

this is very telling.
Something was troubling Karen to the point of showing distraction
and attracting attention of others.

What problems?

I don’t know how many of Black South Africans live in France. Given that the total number of South Africans in France is less than 6000 people, of all races, we are speaking about a tiny number. To travel from SA? Travels are traceable. I honestly think that the black man the villagers saw was a red herring. JMO.

Yet - given that now KC’s friends believe that she was not ambushed but merely spoke with someone, not expecting the attack, I can imagine her being relaxed if an unknown man addressed her in Afrikaans. And more likely he was of her own race.

I think KC looking tired and pale can easily be explained by the reported facts we already know and what she told her British neighbour the evening before her murder :- that she wanted a divorce, to finally be able to move on with her life, buy a new home and not have to 'hide' her new relationship, but her husband was refusing to cooperate.
Divorce is a stressful experience under any circumstances, especially when one party is making it difficult.

But how does it tie to the attack the same day?
(I mean the divorce talk had been happening for some time, it was nothing new)

It seems to me
her distracted state of mind and murder was the apogeum of some (mysterious) problems she was experiencing.
- Was she being blackmailed?
- Threatened?
- Given some kind of ultimatum?

Usually in cases of murders there is this saying "Follow the money".

I can't help but think a professional hitman would have killed her as soon as she got out of the car. It would be extremely unprofessional to let her walk all the way inside and potentially miss his chance. It almost feels like someone saw her get out of the car and chickened out because they've never killed someone before. Then when she returned to the car they saw it as a sign and went through with it. I realize this isn't as likely as other scenarios but it crossed my mind.

I also think a hit would be a shooting too. Hit men don't usually stab. Too messy.

Exactly. As per previous posts on this thread, people have a preconceived idea of a 'hitman' being a hired professional with a gun.
But as we have seen in other cases, this could be a one off job by an 'amateur' who would do anything for money.
In which case much easier for such a person to obtain a knife instead of a gun, especially somewhere like France (especially this part of rural France where they use them for hunting)

SBM. It was 10 pm on a street that was probably empty at the time. Also, an important football match was on, so there were even fewer people (men) out and about. If I were in Karen's position, I'd be startled by anyone coming out of the bushes (or suddenly appearing in my driveway) and speaking to me, regardless of their accent. The most benign options would be a neighbor or a friend in need. A stranger would be out of place.

That's what I reckon too. I think someone just visiting France quickly to carry out the 'job' would have a hard time getting a gun.

he was never charged of anything.
He was/is not even a Person of Interest.

I haven't read anything about him being a suspect.
