Texts reveal why high school football star was shot and killed outside Gwinnett Dave & Buster’s

Police now say two teenagers accused of shooting a popular high school football player to death outside a Dave & Busters were looking for someone to rob on the night of the murder.

The detective said there was an apparent drug deal on Oct. 3, but it didn’t involve DeWitt.

“They noticed the victim standing inside with his friends,” police said. “They were going back and forth, and basically they were looking for people in the mall to rob.”

Police said that after Richardson and Bryan attacked DeWitt, the unarmed teen tried to fight them off, which is when Bryan pulled the gun.

“Bryan removes the handgun from his waistband and begins to raise his right hand, point the gun at the victim’s chest and then the trigger is pulled,” police said.

Grand jury indicts 2 teens accused in killing Jefferson High football player

Grand jury indicts 2 teens accused in killing Jefferson High football player

Two teen suspects accused in the killing of a high school football player were formally charged and indicted Wednesday, the Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office confirmed. The family of 18-year-old Elijah Dewitt is still awaiting justice in the case.

A grand jury indicted both suspects, 18-year-old Kemare Bryan and 19-year-old Chandler Richardson, on one count of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

A Gwinnett judge denied bond for Bryan and Richardson last October because they were allegedly a flight risk. The two were arrested in South Carolina just a week after the shooting.

Records show the last time the two teen suspects were in court was in December for a preliminary hearing.

The district attorney's office said there are currently no future court dates set for the two at this time.

Teen pleads 'not guilty' to murder of Jackson County football player

A teenager accused of shooting and killing high school football player Elijah DeWitt has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
A grand jury previously indicted both suspects, 18-year-old Kemare Bryan and 19-year-old Chandler Richardson, on one count of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

IMO fyi
The video states Kenmare Bryan as the teen that pled not guilty. The other teen arraignment was continued with no date set yet.
No bail for either. Flight risk.

The video showed Elijah supporters (most in red) and in large numbers.

Elijah DeWitt murder: 1 of 2 suspects pleads not guilty; family files lawsuit against mall

SBM
Nineteen-year-old Chandler Richardson pled not guilty to the four charges he is facing including murder. His alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Kemare Bryan pled not guilty last month.

The DeWitt family along with their attorneys filed a civil lawsuit against Sugarloaf Mills, Simon Property Group which owns the mall, Allied Universal which is a security company, and Dave and Buster's.

The suit alleges when DeWitt was killed, security at the mall was lacking.

IMO
Security... it happened in parking lot. The 2 guys (friend and Elijah) left Dave and busters voluntarily to go to parking lot. I wonder way. Maybe his and/or friends phone have clues.
