Dt learned from the best, the mob themselves. Imo.

(Article from 2016.)
And that Roy Cohn guy was also one of his attorneys. Roy Cohn was one creepy dude!

Cohn was allegedly involved in the construction of Trump Tower. Trump Tower was to be built with concrete, however, at the time there was a city-wide Teamster strike and most unions in Manhattan were controlled by or had ties to organized crime. Cohn had represented mobsters in the past like Carmine Galante and Anthony Salerno. Salerno and Paul Castellano at the time controlled the concrete unions in Manhattan and, when Donald Trump needed concrete, he received it from union leader John Cody who was linked to mob boss Castellano.[52]

In 2008, Republicans (rightfully, in my opinion), slammed the cult-like following voters had regarding Obama. What's occurred with the slavish adoration of Trump has far surpassed that.
Right on to all of what you wrote, but snipped to this. ^

Trump was an instigator of the "birther" movement and repeatedly, for years, spouted falsehoods about Obama's birthplace. Those years were like a training session for what he could get crowds to believe by repeating outrageous lies over and over.

Still, people believe what he says.

Anyway, great post.

Ms. Latham and the 15 other people who signed their name to that document had absolutely no right to claim themselves as electors in the first place. There's a process in place to determine who are presidential electors and they chose to bypass that process, hence her being charged with impersonating a public officer.

Here's the relevant state statute:

And here's a summary of electoral college laws by state:

I'll happily label myself ridiculous because I think using a mob boss descriptor for Trump is pretty apt, actually. I'm not alone - anyone remember Michael Cohen?

You mean convicted felon and now disbarred attorney Michael Cohen who threatened reporters? It's laughable that the ex-con refers to Trump as a "mob boss."
JMO

"I'm warning you, tread very f---ing lightly," Cohen told the Daily Beast's Tim Mak, "because what I'm going to do to you is going to be f---ing disgusting."

A state agency is moving ahead with plans that will determine whether Lt. Gov. Burt Jones faces criminal charges as part of a scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

Pete Skandalakis, executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia, said he has reviewed the Fulton County indictment and hopes to appoint a special prosecutor to consider Jones’ actions soon.

Jones is one of 30 people who prosecutors said participated in a conspiracy to overturn the election but were not charged in a Fulton County indictment released late Monday. But Jones may yet face charges, and his fate will rest with a special prosecutor who will determine whether further investigation is needed…

The indictment mostly notes Jones’ role as one of the fake Republican electors. In that capacity, the indictment says Individual 8 participated in a conspiracy that involved impersonating a public officer by falsely saying they were the state’s duly elected presidential electors, forging fake Electoral College paperwork, making false statements and writings, and filing false documents.

Skandalakis was waiting for Willis to complete her investigation. Now that the grand jury has acted, he said he has reached out to Willis to obtain a copy of a special grand jury report on her investigation and to get a briefing on the investigation to date.

With that information in hand, Skandalakis said he will find a special prosecutor to make the final decision on whether more investigation or criminal charges against Jones are warranted…

Former hard core Republican here. Was a member of my university's College Republicans. Campaigned for Republican candidates all four years. I stopped being a Republican the day Trump won the 2016 nomination because the GOP stopped being my father's GOP. I like to call it "Political Hypocrisy 101". Suddenly everything Republican politicians would blast their Democratic counterparts for they defended in Trump.

In 2008, Republicans (rightfully, in my opinion), slammed the cult-like following voters had regarding Obama. What's occurred with the slavish adoration of Trump has far surpassed that.

The "First Amendment defense" on his crimes is a joke. It's been well established he knew the truth.

And, for the record, if Biden is found guilty of committing any crimes, I fully support his indictment because my loyalty remains with the republic (if we can keep it) and not a man.
BBM. I voted for Obama. Twice. I sure have never been in a cult.

Absolutely agree. I should amend my post to state that I found Trump tainting the party I believed and supported so strongly during this time, but I never, ever thought he'd overtake the GOP. I was naive.

Moving on in my reading of the indictment.

Count 1: Violation of Georgia RICO Act
All 19 defendants formed an "enterprise" and are charged with this count.

There are 161 acts listed under this count! I'll post in batches (like cookies).

1. Oct 31, 2020: Trump discussed a draft victory speech with unindicted co-conspirator #1 that falsely claimed voter fraud. On Nov 4, 2020, Trump falsely declared victory in the election on national TV.

2. Nov 15, 2020: Rudy called unindicted co-conspirator #2 and left a voicemail. Made statements about election fraud in Fulton County, Georgia.

3. Nov 19, 2020: Rudy, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell, and unindicted co-conspirator #3 held a press conference at RNC HQ to make false statements about voter fraud in Georgia and elsewhere.

4. Nov 20, 2020: David Shafer (GA GOP Chair) emailed unindicted co-conspirator #4 and others to state that a Georgia bail bondsman, Scott Hall, is looking into the election on behalf of Trump, at the request of David Bossie (I had to google who Bossie is - please do so if needed). He asked #4 to contact the bail bondsman and help as needed.

To be continued....

Exactly.

And to see seven phony certificates signed & submitted to Congress, see here (pages 6-15 have GA specific info):

As to why all the GA fake electors were not in the indictments yesterday:

It certainly has been interesting how the Obama fanatics transitioned to Trump fanatics.

"I'm warning you, tread very f---ing lightly," Cohen told the Daily Beast's Tim Mak, "because what I'm going to do to you is going to be f---ing disgusting."

Yeah, him. And he's hardly the only one to make the comparison for good reason. Just google it and it's hit after hit after hit of ex-prosecutors, legal analysts, an expert on authoritarianism and still so many others making the exact same comparison that Cohen has. It's hardly novel even if it may, according to some, be ridiculous.

What is definition of a fanatic? I can promise you that Obama supporters have not transitioned in to a Trump fanatic.

Her office posting the indictment prior to the Grand Jury even voting is beyond disgusting.
RSBM

I know the internet jumped on this but I honestly don't see the significance.

Doesn't everyone recognize that an indictment such as this would have been written up in draft form (probably dozens of draft versions) prior to the grand jury vote?

Obviously (IMO) the draft would have been edited prior to publication if the GJ had declined to indict on some of the counts, but surely no one thinks the DA's office waits until after the vote and then sits down with a blank piece of paper (er, digital document) to write it all out?

As was promptly pointed out at least on twitter where I was reading at the time, actual final/completed court documents have case numbers and other identifying features the prematurely published document didn't have. So, apparently (and IMO) some clerk hit publish on a draft when they shouldn't have.

IMO essentially the equivalent to an accidental "reply to all" in a group email, except that instead of their whole office email list, the whole d*mn WORLD was watching to see the goof.

I truly don't grasp what evil intent folks are assigning to this. A poorly trained clerk? Not enough triple-check office procedures to prevent a gaffe? Perhaps. But what beyond that?

Serious question.

Thanks, neighbor!

I read every syllable of all 98 pages last night, but I appreciate that you’re formatting it so it’s easier for everyone to get to read. IMO the more people who read this, the more realization will sink in that this is a very treacherous conspiracy against the signal idea that made us a free country…the people decide. “Of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the Earth,” said Lincoln, and who could imagine a successor in the White House attempting a coup?
