Okay. I know this is off topic but I hope the mods won't delete it for that reason because I think we could all use a deep breath and some cute animal videos from National Geographic.

Even though I'm not in the US, I was very impressed with how he acted during that awful time.
I hadn't really heard of him before that, but came to admire him.

But it looks like he went and lost all his goodwill and his good name.
I liked him, but then he got a bit Islamaphobic. Something about a mosque, near the World Trade Center site. Trump was involved also. (This was around 2009 or so). Him and Trump and others were on cable news complaining about it ad nauseum. It was excessive. They spoke their minds, but would not stop. They had an agenda.

Reading those quotes, I'm willing to bet the peanut farm I don't own in Georgia that they haven't read the indictment or even a summary.

I'm not in Georgia but I'm impressed with the work Fani Willis has done on this huge and complicated case, and I think any community would be proud to have her serve it.

But can't please everyone, I suppose. Don't like a competent, smart, hard-working, tough D.A. who is focused on the law? Well, vote her out. Sidney Powell is probably looking for a job.

I haven't even made it 1/2 way through the indictment but so far, I think it's PERFECT. :)

Thank you so much for your summaries!

Um, in my opinion!

Early on I was sure he couldn’t get the Republican nomination and now it’s looking like a possibility. It’s all the indictments and how people feel about them fueling his campaign. imo

BBM. The irony to me is that I don't believe he wants to be President again. I think he just likes the attention and adoration.

Consider the source.

Trump must be doing something right. He's still topping the polls. I do wonder how much money he's raked in....

The former guy and his fundraising team have previously been so above-board...

As the proverb says, "A fool and his money are soon parted." (I do actually feel for those he dupes or takes advantage of through unethical schemes like the article covers.)

I am sure he'll share his tax returns so we can check it all out, make sure it's all above-board, right?

Perfect! Thank you. I even spotted my meerkat family (sans tutus). :-)

Indeed, look at how often he was golfing last time instead of actually doing his job. He wants the attention and the ability to pardon himself and others.
IMO

As a reminder, here is who the previous President is.

(Article from approx. 2016. The number would be higher now of course.)

So, he should feel nice and cozy in a courtroom.

3500 lawsuits!

ITA he doesn't really want to serve as president and I don't think he ever did.

This time around, I truly think he's running to avoid standing trial. His policy platform seems to be, "Me and My Troubles." Yet, people cheer.

The sad thing is that if these crimes are endorsed by the people now, then that sets a precedent that allows for all future attempts to submit a false slate of electors. I don't understand why the people seem so oblivious to the danger.

What other Republican nominee is there? Desantis?

The best conclusion I can come to is that one side is so entrenched and polarized now that they’re fine with the US losing its status as a democracy if it means their “team” stays in power forever. And boy does it suck.

I am continuing reading the GA indictment this morning and my thought is:
Good-bye Rudy. Don't let the prison door hit ya.

The indictments might not cover all the things he's done against our country, but the history books will. I don't doubt it.

A detailed look back at the computer intrusion that features prominently in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s election interference indictment:

It is the story of how, in the name of preventing election fraud, this group appropriated county election systems—and in the process made voting machines there and elsewhere less secure against future attack—and came to be charged with conspiring to commit election fraud themselves.

I just watched the Painkiller series on Netflix last night. I didn’t realize he was right in the middle of the Purdue/OxyContin political maneuvering. (Not only did I have two friends die from Oxy ODs in 2000/2001, I am now in a state that overcorrected so far on pain management guidelines that I’m having to get through surgery recovery from Monday on ibuprofen. Everyone here is terrified to prescribe anything for pain.)

I know nobody likes unsolicited advice, but a general life rule that can't steer you wrong is this:

If you are a "nominee" for any role in any group, you do not have voting rights.

For example, presidential elector "nominees" do not get to cast electoral votes. Only the actual electors cast electoral votes.
