The custody case was transferred to Juvenile court on 11/5/24. I'll keep an eye on it and post updates.

I can't remember, does she have current custody? If she does it's a travesty! Look at the relationship she has with her only two children as an example. The bottom two cases filed in 2022 & 2019 are against them. Should she really be raising the next generation?

Thanks for this update @Knox ! NO. She shouldn't be raising a goldfish  During the interview upthread a little, the egg donor's attorney in this interview said that BJ has current custody 'as far as he knows", he stated when asked. I am still praying hard and fast that those babies go ELSEWHERE. As in, ANYWHERE else loving, nurturing, and safe, that isn't BJ. The thought just makes me sick. And I hope that now that LS has been convicted and goes away for life, that it has a huge influence on the grandmother not ever having custody again.

eta ~ It was very apparent to me during the trial that Danny missed his daughter and wanted her with him as he was very sad and almost angry when asked about whether or not he had custody of her by LS's attorney--which he said he did not.. So I hope he fights for her if he's gotten clean and sober. He is a hero in my eyes for the testimony that he gave and helping the FBI and LE seeking this justice for Quinton.

All moo of course.

Most of the the custody filings are hidden but the latest ones aren't, according to the first page of the pleading, the children are currently in the temporary custody of Chatham department of human and child services.

Thank you. I understand DCFS has legal custody. But are they living with BJH in her home, while the case is litigated? That worries me, it would seem to make it more likely she would be awarded permanent legal custody.

Now that the case has transferred to JC, I don’t think we’ll be able to see anything going forward?

Couldn’t agree more, he really blew a lot of us away with his honesty and devotion, didn’t he?

If Danny wants to continue his relationship with his daughter and if he’s currently living with his parents it seems like he’s got a good shot at reuniting with her.

Certainly a safety plan could be put in place, similar to what BJ had with Quinton. IMO the daughter would be much safer with her father than Quinton was with BIllie, especially if he has support from his parents.

We all saw how Billie ignored the safety plan so why should she have another chance with the surviving kids? Why play Russian roulette with their lives when a loving dad has shown that he can care for his daughter, even while abusing drugs and alcohol. I’d bet on him way before I would on Billie, especially if he can maintain sobriety.

Of course it all depends on what Danny wants. I wouldn’t blame him if he still needs time to get his health and head in a more solid place before trying to take on more responsibility. But if he’s ready I hope he’ll receive all the help and support to make it happen.
All MOO

Unfortunately, as far as I know Danny and his parents lived outside of GA. I don't think he'd be able to get baby S back unless he was in the state and under the jurisdiction of Georgia DCS and GA courts. I may be wrong though - if anyone knows differently, please educate me! JMO

Oh, I could see that, but hope that’s not the case!

I don't believe just because it was moved to juvenile court it is closed or done moving forward. To me it sounds like the case began in juvenile and was moved to Superior Court, possibility because the criminal proceedings involving one or more parties (Billie Jo was charged with contempt) and since the criminal proceedings are done it is getting moved back to the proper court? Just a guess. They quote gca in the pleading and that's what I can gather from the code and from my own experience as a paralegal who worked in the eastern judicial district.

As far as DY goes, as long as he files for custody in the state of residency of the child he can pursue custody and depending, a judge could decide to grant custody to someone out of state or in the state but it would the judge and dfcs who would need to be convinced that it would be in the best interest of the child. Since dfcs has custody of the children, there would be many things dfcs and the court would expect and they would all have to be in agreement before granting custody to anyone really. I'm sure they are expecting all parties to attend parenting classes, drug and alcohol evaluations, depending there might be a treatment plan for them to complete after those evaluations, weekly drug testing for at least a year, house visits, check ins the case workers... Just to name a few. So who ever has custody or gains custody will have a long straight line to walk, hopefully until the children grow up.

There are interstate compacts between states to allow for the partnership of child welfare agencies (Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children, or ICPC.) There are specific things that need to occur to get the ball rolling, but once an ICPC referral gets under way, it permits the receiving state to act on behalf of the sending state for things like home studies, supervision of placements, provision of services, etc.

The jury foreperson is speaking out:

“We were an eight to four split in the beginning on some of the charges,” said Kite.

Kite notes confusion about the three murder charges Simon faced was among the most difficult sticking points.

“It wasn’t so much on the witness testimonies as much as it was pulling out the photos pulling out the data,” said Kite. “This verdict was not solely based on the emotional toll that the testimonies took on us. We thought very clearly and thoughtfully about the verdict we were rendering.”

 Scary to learn that they were divided for even for a second, or at at all, but grateful that they came together and saw the truth!

eta 5 more days until sentencing!!

He did. I felt sorry that Danny got all tangled up in this disaster of a family, and the egg donor, and lost his daughter in the process... nevertheless he did the right thing for Quinton in the end and I could tell he cared deeply for all of her children too imo. Praying that he gets clean and sober and takes his daughter away from BJ IF she indeed still has custody.

Tomorrow's the sentencing day!! :D
And I hope we hear LWOP and nothing less.

Does anyone know if sentencing will be aired live?
ETA: I just saw on Court TV says sentencing is live in 21 hours.

I won't be getting up at 5am my time to watch this, so I'm hoping Court tv will have the footage available to watch later. I am on day waking right now, and have had a rough couple of days, and to be honest, LS is not worth my time to get up that early for.
you take care of yourself Shadow...... sleep in. breathe.

I am, thank you. Taking my meds, ordering food in, playing video games, reading, and setting myself small, realistic goals for my day. Rinse, repeat. (I'll be fine, just had to leave the house yesterday despite my anxiety being not great. Did it, survived, today is just the physical and emotional fallout.)

Just in case Court tv doesn't have the video available later, could those of you who watch give a cliff's notes version of the sentencing remarks here? I'd really love to get the gist, even if I can't watch it live.

Sending love and healing vibes @iamshadow21 xoxo I am traveling today so won't be able to post notes :/ but including the link (for whoever might be able to) for Court TV's Live broadcast of the Sentencing today in 4 hours it says:

Live in 4 hours
