Yes but that's a big house to be cleaning I mean they have 45 years on me and i'd have a tough time cleaning that house on a daily basis lol

OK, didnt know they had any family nearby, doesnt mean they dont, but when they were discovered, the family,kids, flew in, no ne else was ever mentinoed, yeah thats interesting, still want tot know who lied and WHYY WHY WHY, not good....if the kids were cooperating, then who was SHE?

I recall that they did not have any help in the house, they were pretty darn healthy but it is a big house, the dusting alone, jeepers, I can't keep up with mine, and much smaller than that.............Of course if it's mostly empty of too many furnishings or fabrics and clothes in each room then it wont genrate a lot of dust...so maybe they uitilized a few rooms and that was it, thats k ind of how we do now being empty nesters............and the yard, i dont remember alot of dirt, I do recall lots of pinestraw and btw, they did not have a gardener, maybe a mower guy but those beds weren't immaculate as I would have expected from that area.............back to square one lol

They didn't do a good enough job searching apparently. I noticed from pictures there looks to be a lot of dirt in the back yard towards the dock. Wonder if there were any foot prints and how many different sets of foot prints were found. This would give them a better idea of how many people might have been involved. Also on a different note I read an old article where Sills said a close family member outright lied TO him during an interview , he also let it slip it was a she. I know he said the kids were very helpful during the investigation so this was this woman living near the dermonds? Was it a grand daughter? A Neice?

87 and 88 year olds as they were i'm sure had a visiting nurse or caretaker for that large house maybe one of them is the female ..

I recall there was a footprint or a set, not sure, that was mentinoed and/or investigated, not sure where exactly either

depends on the caliber and the load.

In the old days a .22 short fired point blank right behind the ear would zoom around the inside of the skull and scramble the brain. No exit and small entry.

Or maybe this is just Mafia legend?

6 weeks until we get an update assuming Sills does his usual annual nothing to tell you interview

Thanks Steleheart, SO....do we think a person intending to rob them and the type to have the ability to haul her away and dump her in a river and then cut his head off.....would be carrying only a .22, knowing they would possibly use it and probably couldnt fire from any distance with such and why would they try with only a .22 and if they had a job to do and didnt want evidence left behind, knowing it could or would be with a .22 and then have to behead someone...............#2... shoot up close OR from a a distance with a say....357 or something more powerful, knowing the bullet would most likely exit but then you have to worry about the sound especially from the yard if at a distance, unless, silencer.....and I dont know if that impedes the firing range at all....(anyone know?).............but then why take the head................Not sure either why somone would come to do whatever and intend on only bludgeoning.....seems they'd be more prepared, certainly went to a lot of dang trouble either way

The fbi profiler I am sure told Sills tht this murder was up close and personal which means rage and revenge now who could be that mad at this rich elderly couple?

Hi everyone - I'm completely new to this forum and found it after seeing a YouTube video about the case (channel is Cayleigh Elise, she covers the odd unsolved case here and there) and getting more frustrated than I usually do when hearing about unsolved cases. I started digging in a little bit, but there are so many huge threads on this board that I haven't finished reading yet and may run the risk of repeating what has already been said... I just wanted to say it before I forget, in case it hasn't been said (but it probably has).

It just really strikes me as odd that Russell's head was never found. Was the lake around their house ever dragged for evidence? If there were human remains there, they should have been there for a while, I checked and the lake is just outside of alligator territory... if his head was not in the lake, it means that wherever it IS, would be a huge clue/lead...

Sorry if it's been said. I just wanted to say it before losing the train of thought again. Thank you all for all the amazing things you do.

Welcome Fountain. I know they were out on the water for a few days but i'm not sure what size area they covered and I often wonder if they checked near where Mrs Dermond was found.Anyone out there know ?

Hi Fountain, yes they searched under and around the Dermond's dock, there have been gators found on sinclair so likely oconnee too, very very very large snakes on oconee as well have been spotted and killed........not sure how far into the cove the sonar was used to search but I imagine as wide an area as they could since they were there.........

And about the head...........never ocurred to me.......but are they USUALLY FOUND?? The fact that it hasn't been some speculate indicates a mafia hit and it's still being speculated in Putnam county by residents and even by some of the Putnam county officers. My friends mother grew up in a small town where the mob was a big deal and that was the first thing she said when she heard the head was missing........others speculate hiding evidence of bullet lodged in skull


BUt yeah, WHERE is the head and are they usually recovered?

Re listening to some interviews.........this one, SS said in regards to assets and technical expertise of the FBI, had discovered some things about the Dermonds but he cannot divulge that info........hmmm, has it ever come out what? Most "intruders" enter homes when they know or think no one is home, the D's bed was unmade, a lampshade askew in the LR and saturday May 3rd mail still in the box............ IIRC, Shirley was dressed in everyday clothes, in other words, not dressed for a Derby Party yet.......and Mr D, accord to SS was dressed as if he had just risen (or...could have been awakened MO).......Thur and Fri and afternoon Mr D was spotted about.....so this apparently occurred Saturday morning most likely since she was dressed for the day and bed was unmade and Mr D in pj's IIRC..........not a typical time that an intruder would expect the owners to be at work or kids at school.............so yes..............they were targeted, for something they had or something they thought the D's had accord to SS..........But What I wonder was discovered about the D's by the FBI investigators that SS cannot divulge to the public..........

We need some updates, something the public should look out for SS, if anything

just rehashing some things as I refresh my memory with interviews
