A boat going at a fast rate of speed would be kind of loud and might draw attention late at night wouldn't it ? Or are the houses a good distance from the lake?

#1...close enough but most have good views of water however at night, high speed, it happens, crazy IMO tho , lol, but b y the time you went to see they'd be gone and at night with only navigation lights and darkness, can't identify anything anyway
#2...there would be no real hurry IMO at night, other than just happenstance that someone see anything, right place, irght time, Im telling you, you just assume they're fishing and most are lol
#3... Im thinking more on the lines of a trolling motor, not sure what kind of boat, but quiet in and out, sleeping neighbors dont know a thing, scaring my self here thinking about it.....but personally I would pay more attention to a slow quiet boat than a loud fast one as far as suspicion goes but if neighbors are sleeeping.............
#4...We aren't sure if it was fri night him getting ready for bed and she awake working the puzzle or about to get ready for bed adn they hear a noise? OR if it was saturday morning, he just rising adn she up and dressed.......SS mentioned it appeared as if rD just risen ready for his first cup of coffee, WAS THERE COFFEE IN THE POT?.............but people troll at night and day

I'll throw this out there too, the low drum from engines on the water is almost a relaxing sound when you're used to it so it'd throw no suspicion to have a boat at night or early morning. Like dance said, it's the slow ones I'd be a little more curious about.

Why put her in the water at all? Why not leave her body (I hate typing that) at the house, with Mr. D's? I suppose to make it look like she killed her husband and ran...but at her age?

What is the purpose of taking his head and weighing her body down in the water?

I think they took her as an additional threat: If you don't do what we say, your mama is a goner too.

one, his was a scare tactic, threat or a message...........she was simply to throw off theinvestigation........as it did, billboards were posted about her missing all up and down the interstate, esp since she wasnt at the dock or cove.......they WANTED the detectives to be confused adn hers was therefore treated like a kidnapping adn slowed down the investigation in looking for the perps.........suspicious they came by boat but no one was POSITIVE about that until found, therefore they had to assume she could have been kidnapped and taken by CAR

WHY I THINK THEY CAME AND WENT BY BOAT

Thank you.

I was thinking about this:

1) A body between two cars.

2) Rigor mortis.

3) The body does not fit in the car trunk.

4) Maybe beheading the body...

5) It did not fit in the car trunk either.

6) Change of plan.

I searched all over the internet for a picture atleast of him and her standing side by side and did not find anything, hoping that would tell something... I think they had an SUV and a larger auto........

I saw some awful fb posts attacking SS ethics adn saying he got what was coming to him with this case and after a case he handled way back.......opened my eyes to possibilities........the writing's on the wall and the devil's in the details......

When do we get to learn the description of the man on the lawn?? Would love to know height, color, hair length/color, heavy, slender, and anything else! why is this being kept from the public? now THAT i dont understand unless it's a bluff

  • #952
Is SS withholding this information to keep panic from setting in?? OR is he hoping to scare the "man on the lawn" into submission or hope he will do something to alert someone because of his fear.........well THAT hasnt happened so now I am seriously wondering about the former possibility of panic in the community......CherokeeONe do yo ustill live on oconee? what is it like there now? are people still afraid to talk? Forgotten it all? or simply think its a hit up north directed at the D's personally and only and that they're long gone??

Well, that is a very interesting premise. But.. after decapitation, why not put him in the trunk then?

And why take his head?

Your last sentence was what our now deceased "Foxfire" always said about this case.

For the most part people still think it was a one off thing related to their history. People still mention it, sure, but it isn't the talk of the town like a serial killer would be. Which brings me to my thoughts on SS's past.

The Nuwaubians were a crazed group of individuals, and it's my belief that had they not been taken eventually they would've turned into the next Waco or Ruby Ridge. That being said, if someone really wanted to get back at SS for something, I feel like they would have been causing much more than 1 seemingly random, albeit vicious, attack. They would've caused more unsolved issues.

I assume SS isn't afraid of the cult since he has already busted their leader and he's in jail for life. I'm sure he keeps tabs on those who stayed in the county . I reread the posts on FB again and noticed the date of the posting is over a year from the murders and I am thinking they might be taking credit for something they had nothing to do with. Sure it could be a cult as Keith Dermond said at the beginning and beheading is what they do but why pick someone who has nothing to do with SS ? I still keep going back in my mind to when SS said he has hairs, fibers and all forms of evidence including dna yet he has no person of interest no suspects, no theory as to who killed this couple. I find it hard to believe he doesn't know how this happened exactly date time and the reason why weapons used etc. SS is playing a cat and mouse game. Technology is so advanced now that with the evidence he claims to have he knows the killer or killers. SS once said the Dermonds knew their killers enough to open the door for them and I doubt they knew or dealt with any cult members. here's my theory sorry if it sounds like rambling

Mrs Dermond answers a knock at the door and lets in the killer ( friend or family) They sit and chat for awhile before Mr Dermond comes downstairs . The visitor excuses himself to use the bathroom but instead opens a backdoor or a window for his help to enter. From here once the killer or killers arrive either by boat or car they enter the kitchen or living room or den or wherever and corner the Dermonds. This is where they take their time in executing their carefully thought out plan which probably took all day and they left at dusk.

Another theory is and this is out there but possible.

They say the Dermonds were religious about the alarm being on. What if someone close to them said " hey we'll be arriving late at night could you make sure the alarm is off so we can let ourselves in" Yes it seems crazy but it could also explain nothing in the house being stolen, no struggle, nothing missing and the beheading and would explain why SS said they knew their killers enough to let them in at the least. Could also be the reason they knew the area well enough to arrive by car and leave by boat, to know the security camera at the gate wasn't working. The person out on the front lawn I am guessing is someone close to the family and just couldn't watch them being killed or maybe a lookout.

I just think there is too much planning for this to be a cult hit. I might be wrong but I like my theories as crazy as they sound

Maybe the friend or family member called them later in the night and told them they'd be in the area which would explain the Dermonds not telling anyone they were expecting company. Kind of like a last minute visit from someone close to them

I had never read THIS guy's post before this week and just stumbled upon it searching fb.....I've read other posts that seemed eery but I haave not seen one so direct at SS.......ive always gone back and forth from this possibility and the family link but over the past year and a half I've not been reading on this case much due to taking care of my family member after a stroke, so IM rehashing

So there you have it. LOL

When were your eyes openened? DO yo ubelieve that's it? I know it's not allowed to be spoken of on here so anyone who doesnt know about the possibility of such is living in the dark and its keeping the public in the dark for not talking about it

I know what FF believed but I was no 100% certain but knew it was a real possibility
