Hmmm... just pondering all that has been recently written just recently.. how about this for a potential theory... please keep in mind that this is just NOW rolling around in my head.. so it's probably going to end up as unfinished, and maybe not even possible.

We have to assume that SS is competent enough that he would have removed *both* vehicles for forensic examination, even if he can't see any evidence there?? I mean.. *since* he seems to believe that neither of the victims were actually murdered IN the garage, then the vehicles really should have been examined for prints, fibers, blood traces, DNA, hairs, etc., right? So let's assume that he did that.

You know what? Nevermind.. because as soon as I got started, it already just doesn't make any sense. Because of the bathrobe RD was wearing. So it doesn't fit. But frankly, nothing fits, if we are to believe all of SS's beliefs. imo.

There are so many ways to get a timeline like when the car was last started, when the last phone call was made and answered, when the last time water was turned on. Lets say the beheading was done in the garage and I believe that is where SS says it was done. Those car should be examined for prints, dna etc. Here's what I believe SS knows where the murder happened but is keeping it secret because he's waiting for someone to tell him where it was done to eliminate phony confessions. Not the best wording but hey i'm tired lol. Foot prints must have been found either on the walkway, in the house or in the back yard there's jusy no way they covered their tracks that well. Hairs fall out all the time just as saliva does. Think of it this way. there's a struggle between the victim and the killer , the killer panics a bit and forgets or doesn't realize in the excitement he may have left dna. heck he could have sneezed. Point is there was dna left behind

Had to be

You remember SS said they took so many finger prints the house was painted in it almost or something to that effect....so hopefully, boy I'd love to know the answers to those first 3 questions you asked, very important to the timeline for sure

I have missed something, I think. What is supposed to happen at the end of August? TIA

As others have stated this is my personal theory including the first person on the podcast interviewed before me.

He is very respected in true crime circles and I’m his sons tennis coach. Things generally get fairly quiet before a storm.

So you are wanting us to do what with that information? Thanks

Well this storm is gonna be a big one cuz it's been fairly quiet for 5 years

I’m just stating that Vinnie Politan and myself thing their might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Between the podcast being shelved and SS letting the AJC see his evidence that is SS playing his hand. When things get quiet is usually when things are about to go down. Use what you like and disregard the rest.

IMO it's like a buffet (at a not so fancy restaurant)... You take what you like, what you don't like... Well, ya just leave that for someone else. Lol!

Is there some way I can listen to this podcast? I didn't see a link? TIA

Does anyone know why RD stopped golfing years prior to his murder? It seems it was something he very much enjoyed, was said to be an avid golfer, and that he golfed with his son and his neighbor.. why would he stop? Just curious.

Was it about the time Ron Maples the neighbor died?

Philip Holloway said...…….just because someone has Gunshot residue on their collar, doesnt me they were shot

which is something I feel is important too btw...…..why I wondered if RD was hit hard with the butt of gun or something or someone had GSR on themselves and transferred it...…..

SS and FBI also say that a professional wouldn't come in and shoot you and then haul her off and then decapitate him. A Professional wouldn't even decapitate...…...I always thought big drug cartel or mafia did that in years past

We don't know if SD had any GSR on her because the water washed away any if there

Also looking at this article:5 years later, sheriff still agonizes over brutal cold case murders

Reiterating, SS doesn't think it was a professional...…..so with no unusual prints, that we know of, or none that come up on the database yet, is someone unprofessional, close to the family as SS has stated they were atleast acquainted with the perps

If no unusual prints were found, whose does he have with all that dusting in the house they did that he says "changed the house to a different color" LOL.....or some such

.….so he waits, waits for someone who knows to call or someone to slip up

I do agree it would be nice but I hope he did all he could have done in gathering evidence,

I thought the home was released pretty quickly , tho SS stated otherwise, also the autos released, everything now, the only thing left he could do would be to exhume bodies if necessary

Or compare prints with any new crimes and as SS stated, he's not solved but 1 crime with prints in all his years in LE, but of course, nothing ever crossed his way like this one

from article: 5 years later, sheriff still agonizes over brutal cold case murders

AT FIRST, the murders appeared to be the work of professionals; Sills said he INITIALLY assumed the beheading was meant to send a message. But the FBI couldn’t find any connections to the Dermonds in any of their investigations. The couple had no known enemies.

And besides, would seasoned killers take the risk of transporting Shirley Dermond’s body — which they clearly didn’t want discovered — on a public lake, then weigh it down with just a pair of 30-pound cinder blocks?

Professionals likely would not expend the time it takes to decapitate, Sills said. “They shoot you in the head and leave,” he said. Russell Dermond was most likely shot — gun residue on his collar indicates that — but the sheriff believes his head was removed because the killers knew the bullet could be traced. The head has yet to be found.

The underlined and bolded below, SS says indicates it's not a professional

I wondered before if since it was "WITH JUST" either amateur or someone who wanted her found

They apparently didn't want SS found right away

DId they want SD found but not right away?

IDK

I also do wonder as some have suggested, did they intend to haul him off too but was just too heavy or time got away from them

FBI profile page says that the time spent at the crime scene is an indication of how familiar the perps are with the home or area

I think they stayed a while

I wonder what evidence would LE has that would get this solved by August, if they have the evidence to indict now, Im not hearing an indictment happening

Also the last articles end of May 2019, weeks ago, states their is nothing to convict anyone yet

I don't think we have ever been told exactly when he stopped.. but even so, if it was around the time of his neighbor's death, why would he have stopped playing if he was an avid golfer, and he also golfed with his son?
