I honestly don't know. I was responding to a post from Plumeria5. She wanted to know what parole hearing Sheriff Sills was referring to in the PC. And even Sills said 'supposedly'. He was trying to dispel rumors.
Anywho, I wish that Sills would be more transparent with details about this heinous crime. The perp(s) could be hiding right in plain sight, and no one would be the wiser. The public is an invaluable resource that is woefully underused by some branches of LE. :(

Ok thanks

one other thing on this topic:

For anyone reading this, isn't there some confusion on whether or not RD DID, planned to recently or in a year, testify against TM?

Do we know the facts and how do we find out? I think GA corrections has a place to look up APPEALS but what about PAROLE?

Families usually testify in the case of a possilbe parole of someone convicted of a murder/crime against their family member

:croc: Are we thinking that gators could be around to eat someone? That certainly wouldn't be good with the Memorial Day weekend coming up in a few weeks. Wonder if the Dermonds attended any family reunions or get togethers for Memorial Day in the past as a yearly family event? Perhaps the children visited for Memorial Day? I bet the resort is expecting business to be booming in a few weeks. It would be nice if Mrs. Dermond could be found before Memorial Day. It would be awful to find remains of either in the lake or on the golf course during such a happy time for family reunions, vacations, etc. Certainly wouldn't be good for business for the resort or RP rentals. People's memories are short though and in a few weeks this might be a distant memory for some in the area and for outsiders. . . well they might not be aware at all. :croc:
:seeya:
Respectfully, I don't see this being a gator attack. That would have happened outdoors...... so imoo the body would not have been found in the garage. I just don't think a gator would bite an adults head first. Besides blood would have been found where a gator attack occurred.

Remember Sills said the head was decapitated postmortem.

I don't either. Search his name and add Sr. Profile pic is with him in his prison uniform.

could it be he was simply draggeed back into the garage from outside, I CANNOT see them coming BACK to the scene of the crime, already risky enough to be there in the first place

also, interesting A plan to steal something of “great value”

watched clemente video posted here earlier, he stated that in murder cases, what the perp(s) are after could be of monetary OR physical value

I wonder if the perp/s could have made an attempt to abduct both the Dermonds by boat. Maybe at the dock, Mr. Dermond resisted or made a break for it and they shot him or hit him in the head -- decided to leave him there but decapitated to hide evidence (as some have long ago suggested) and moved him to garage so that he would not be seen from the water...?

<sigh> just pondering out loud, really

I hear you. But don't you sometimes need to spend a little money to get back a lot of money.

And I have witnessed many well heeled, cultured men act like total buffoons out on the golf course. (Especially on club courses.)

But the Lake angle: let's say the person or persons took the head and Mrs. D, via boat. How are he/they going to explain their cargo once they get back to the rental place? Or, if they did dispose of the body or head in the water along the way, shouldn't it be fairly clear where they need to be looking. And if the.body and or the head was thrown into the woods along the way...wouldn't that body be stinking by now?

And the sexual predator angle? That scares me most of all as none of us are safe.

Can't assume the perps are Idiots, JUST EVIL

I learned recently that gators are further up in GA than people realize, according to my sister who lives in Houston County, GA. Pretty creepy. I am not sure what this has to do with this case, though. :)

A few thoughts.

First of all, someone posted about taking the head and Mrs. Shirley as collateral. That makes some sense to me. Why, though? The motive presented by that poster (sorry, I can't give you credit since it is buried in the multitude of responses on the two threads this case has generated on this site) is to obtain a significant amount of money, or object worth a significant amount of money. With all the time gone by, even if that was the objective, it may have wound up an unworkable premise by the perp(s).

Second of all, it does not appear there is any official acknowledgement that this was a anger-sex based attack by a very disturbed individual. I know there were other elderly people attacks in a neighboring state, where the arrested POI does have ties to GA within the same timeframe. I still think this is an angle that should be pursued.

Thirdly, with one the sons saying he hopes his mom is dead so she doesn't have to be cooped up with any type of madman(men), I am worried.

Anyway, I appreciate all you caring sleuthers out there. I usually only visit this site when it covers a story near me, so that is why I am here. The Internet makes all kinds of information available that never was before. Can you believe you can easily access a Brittish tabloid to read information about this case? (That is for the old timers, of course!) Because you are interested and care, I think your work really does help with the mountain of information LE has to go through to solve a crime. I think web sleuthers helped with the BTK case too, when this type of investigation was young, so keep going.

WEllll, on the gator topic, I suppose they could have dropped SD in a river with gators, they eat at night, in rivers all over GA and FL, AL, SC

I'm sure it seems like ONE of them was in the way, however it played out, to have only taken ONE, strange, but if they were WATCHING the house, they knew there were two of them

Confused still

How can a crime so evil have so few leads?

I reread the article w quotes, purporting to be from family, in May 14 article
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...rgia-murder-mystery-horror.html#ixzz31ozpedsz

Headline:
"Despairing son hopes his mother is dead to 'ease her suffering' a week after she vanished and husband's headless body was found at their $1m home in Georgia murder mystery horror....
"Son Keith told MailOnline the thought of her suffering is just unbearable"
"Family believe it was a random attack or even a 'cult' thing"

From a caption:
"Their son, Keith, said: 'If she is still alive, we can’t imagine what she is going through… but it has almost got to the stage where we hope she is with our father, just to ease her suffering'

Another caption:
" ...Keith, pictured center left with wife Kathleen and other family members, said: 'The more we think about it, the more it makes sense that this was just some sick individual who randomly targeted them.' He added it could have been the work of a cult."

From story:
"A devastated son whose father was beheaded and his mother abducted a week ago today said he now hopes she is dead to ‘ease her suffering’ as it is too unbearable to think of her in pain." BBM, RBM

"Keith... said: ‘The Sheriff is keeping us informed as much as he can. I spoke to him yesterday. He is holding back some information as it is important to the case."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder if that is a quote -- if the son actually said ---
hope she is dead to ease her suffering.
Maybe reporter used a bit of literary or dramatic license.

Anyone else wonder if son actually used those very words?

WOW< I didn' know about that quote, can you imagine her suffering if being tortured and possibly having witnessed her husbands beheading, the anguish and pain and then probalby to be killed anyway........yeah I think he said that, I did just today

I wonder if the boat ramps and the rental area have camera's?
I'm sure they've already looked at that though.

At sincair, they are at every "subdivision" with only a small dock, secluded usually, with one pole light, and some others even MORE secluded

since people carry coolers and bags of all sorts when boating or fishing, no one is going to be suspiciou, just carry fishing poles on your boat, and usually they just pull the boat out of the water with all the goods still on the boat, so no one sees what you are transporting anyway

and no, no cameras, not sure about rental places, usually a lot of people around and I would venture to say, THESE PERPS DIDN'T RENT A VESSEL, all you need is a small jon boat probably anyway and at night, no one thinks a thing of it

I think Sheriff Sills is doing fine. He's using the FBI. I like the billboards of Mrs. Dermond's picture. He lives in the area. He knows the people. I bet he's got a good hunch of what happened. The cameras not working since April 28 is a clue. He could not have released that information, but he did. Who knew the cameras weren't working as of April 28? Somebody in security. Pretty sure it wasn't a resident. Could this be a hate crime?

How can a crime so evil have so few leads?

Pray to God they have screwed up somewhere but it also takes good detectives to get in there an find the leads EARLY ON, the long it takes the more I worry, but cases do get solved years later

Speaking of, did I see that there was an arrest in the HOLLY BOBO case, and that case was pretty much without leads I think, but very few, but I'm sure it helped, someone saw something suspicious, so yeah, the more the public talks the better

someone may be afraid to speak if they are nearby the D's but then we dont' know becuase I dont think LE is going to post anything that would cause a witness to be in jeopardy

YES, 3 arrest in the Bobo case. I have faith in Sills and other LE.

Did I miss it?
When news broke last week, Sheriff mentioned that a neighbor (S?) found MrD.

Has the neighbor ever identified self in MSM interview or on his/her own SocMedia?

IIUC, LE normally tries to exclude the body-discoverer, but I have not read or heard anything to that effect.

Al66pine, good questions... Here's my thoughts: the Daily Mail is a tabloid newspaper and has a pretty sleazy reputation in Great Britain - they tend to sensationalize things and people read it more for "entertainment" value than real news (just google the Daily Mail) - that's one of the reasons I was so surprised that anyone in the family would grant them an interview - but maybe he didn't know that about this paper. And if they were asked by LE to avoid the media, maybe he thought it would be okay to talk to an overseas newspaper? They do also pay money for their stories...

This is JMO from having lived and worked in England for 6 years many moons ago.
Perhaps he didn't know he was speaking to a reporter. I came across this item when researching the same reporter in relation to another case.

"Mail Online" article author releases unauthorized Robertson interview
Posted: Dec 23, 2013 8:59 PM CDT Updated: Dec 24, 2013 7:25 AM CDT

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - KNOE 8 News has learned that the author of a widely publicized article about Phil Robertson written on Sunday said he was a member of the congregation.

[...]

On Monday night, a statement from the family said that "He (Payne) was not authorized for coverage nor did he make his intentions known to immediate members of the family to our knowledge."
The article goes on to say that multiple other requests for interviews had been denied.

Just food for thought and a reminder that things are not always what they appear to be.

I don't agree with the gator theory (respectfully). I would think if he were decapitated by a gator, they would have known it was an animal attack from the types of injuries.

MOO

From the beginning locals kept talking about the 3 A's (regarding Holly) and they were right all along. I know the son said the Dermonds had no enemies but I wonder if their friends and neighbors shared that same sentiment. Their parents may not have told their children, not wanting to worry them.
