Say where did everybody go?

Huddle House?
There's also a WH in Greensboro and we all know they have cameras.

You know, having been a waitress and bartender in college, when people drink they talk WAY too much. I was always amazed at what folks told me, someone they did not know, after a couple of Long Island Iced Teas.

What's the Lake Oconee bar of choice these days? Wonder if LE is undercover in the bars? Loose lips sink...

Your posts are interesting, and you could say the same thing a million different ways, or say the same thing a million different times, and I enjoy reading them. One thing I can say about Websleuths, is that many of us repeat the same info/ideas over and over, and that's fine as that's just how we are. :)
I have learned a lot from your posts. :) Keep posting. :)

treelights I agree 100%! = )

Maybe the head was severed so Mr. D would never " be at peace" and this was done to continue to harass/scare/terrorize/torment the D family. When my dad died,I kept most of his ashes in an urn and took some to scatter at 3 places dear to his heart, someone told me that was "a bad idea" as he would never be at peace as he was not in one place. I had never heard that before.

otptarheel, So sorry about your dad, I lost mine as well recently and keep hoping the hurting will get easier day by day, that's why I feel so sorry for Mr & Mrs Dermond's children especially because of the horrific way their parents were taken. Anyways I have never heard that about someones ashes I think that was a very sweet gesture on your part, I have my fathers ashes and maybe I should have done that also but I like having him close!

Coinsidence??
What about the peculiar name similarity of the neighbor? Seems astounding as there is only one such name in the entire U.S.

If you look hard enough you will find more that's coincidental about the name.

Is this subject forbidden? "

I am curious as well. There seems to be a lot of confusion around that subject. It would be curious indeed to know if another neighbor with same name existed, especially if they were a real target. I don't know if that is a TOS to pursue. Obviously it could be a valid angle. Does not explain beheading.

Is it the reverse, for example Arnold Tom or Tom Arnold?

I wouldn't pay any attention to the person who told you this was a "bad idea". My step-father wanted his ashes spread on the grave of his little dog, Casper. My mother did as he wanted. She says she wants to be spread in the forest with the wild animals.

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Having my ashes spread where my dogs ashes are buried. Is that weird?

I don't know what the perp used to decapitate Mr. D's head, but it probably wasn't a guillotine. I'm thinking axe or machete.

No, I don't think it is weird. I think you will be together with your dogs again, and that's a good thing.

There is a restaurant and bar down on the lake at the Ritz. I think it is called Gaby's, it has been over 5 yrs since I was there. Open to the public but I would say out of the way if you were a resident on the other side of the lake.

There was a really nice restaurant on the Putnam County side of the lake called Magnolia House(?). They had a bar. I don't know if it is still open.

I think that Mrs. D. heard the commotion of Mr. being killed and came out to see what was going on. She found his body and was bent over it trying to either comfort him or help him. The perp came up and hit her from behind. I am thinking maybe a hammer or a bat. I also think it happened very close to the dock. jmo

I agree about the pets, no where I'd rather be. My husband will be buried in a cemetery, (what his family wants), but I would rather be cremated and just out there somewhere. Sorry, jumped on the last post I saw. It's evening, this is HappyShoes and I got on tonight hoping to see some clues or LE going in some direction. Yall are great, love the open minds here. There has to be some info about the weapon used by now. I go back and forth whether this was planned or just happened when some old grievance finally came to a boil. A friend of mine just blatantly said it had to be a drug deal, but I have a problem with that. However, young people today keep amazing me with the way they have no feelings and treat the world like it's a video game.

I lean toward this, too, esp if it was one person. Someone who wouldn't really have wanted to hurt Mrs. D but it became necessary after he saw what he had done to Mr. D....that's why I say it was just a one-time hit on Mr. D, like "Look what you made me do" as opposed to having a plan to take the bodies away.

Magnolia House sounds nice. I love the scent of a magnolia tree in bloom. My grandmother had a HUGE magnolia tree in her backyard. It's pretty old and splitting down the middle now, but still alive and blooming. It was a contender for biggest magnolia tree in the state, but lost to one that was a couple of feet taller. Oh those were the days that were carefree.

:seeya: I agree with the young people today and no feelings. They think they are 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

I don't think it was a drug deal either. It was somebody who perceived the Dermonds as a threat or some kind of grudge which the perp took too seriously. I've even thought the house itself was maybe the reason for the murders. Somebody wants that house. Do realtors have to disclose a murder happened at the house when it goes on the market?

I've been wondering the same thing. . .

The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!

That's a good question! But, didn't Sills state that the murders occurred elsewhere? That could be a clue.

I keep asking myself "How mad would you have to be with someone to take their head?" Sills and FBI say it's personal. IIRC.

Why would you want the head?

This was not some crazed killer IMO. They did not have a trashed house, or stolen property, blood all over the place, etc. According to what I have read.

They/he/she went with the intent of doing bodily harm. Did they just walk in, hit each in the head hard enough to kill them without blood splatter and then what?? Oh wait, I need a head! Let me move his body and cut off his head. WHY?????

Any theories please respond. TIA

Taking the head could be symbolic and actually goes back to biblical times if not longer. When John the Baptist was beheaded, Herod's daughter requested his head be delivered on a platter.

So - could have been taken to prove to someone (in the most heinous way) that he was dead.
