I continue to believe the murderer is from the PAST, and they had no idea they were being watched ...If the Ds had been threatened they would have called the police, just as they did when someone used their credit cards. They reported it to the authorities. They would have called the police.

I wonder how they could alert everyone in the community about the Dermonds?? If some of the owners only come once a month, or a few times a year....then how are they contacting them to see if they were there that weekend and saw anything unusual? Would they know it was unusual if they aren't there that often?

I cut down part of the above for space but it got me thinking. If many of the homes are only used by owners a few times a year then it would make sense that any of THEIR kids, friends of kids and perhaps even neighbors kids would know of a house that was perhaps used that weekend.

When we had a lakehouse we weren't always there. Our kids knew our comings and goings. The grands were small at that time but if they would have been teens they would have been able to find out if the house was occupied or vacant some weekend.

Boy this sheriff surely has a lot to cover to get to the bottom of all this!

Hummm what's kind of interesting is that two of them could not lift the grandfather to dispose of him like they did the grandmother.

From the article;

The couple then tried to cover their tracks, scattering the grandmother's burned remains in two states and later calling 911 to report finding the grandfather's body, which was too heavy for them to dispose of as planned, authorities said.

I said early on this had to be somebody (s) big and strong to carry these two people around like they did.

Carrying dead weight is different than carrying a live person!

Ummm ...obviously a knife to cut throat and blunt object to Mrs D = two weapons. Why not state the obvious ?

IMO whatever was used to decapitate MrD was not the weapon that killed him as wasn't it the ME who reported that he was decapitated AFTER death.

WSB TV 2 Atlanta Facebook
Scroll Down to Sheriff Sills Offers $43,000.00 Reward Article 06/03/2014
(interesting comments)

https://www.facebook.com/wsbtv

so the fishermen claimed the $20 if it was "to lead to the location or finding of SD" ?? I dont' recall it being to lead to a conviction, the reward came out in regards to finding SD I think

Does anyone else read all the FB comments from the AJC and WSBTV articles? They are pretty interesting. <modsnip>

Does someone have the links handy?

HMMM, many weird coincidences? :

elderly couple
Name is Shirley
last name severance, RD head severed
he found dead in home
shirley is missing, still one week after his death like SD
Sterling Police Department, SPD (SD)

just noting interesting facts

going to read up more on this case

I think that's a good thing. They just wanted her found. Couldn't rule her out until she was found. Still there were no pleas from the family. I'm sure LE pretty much had to go with their gut on this one and figure she was deceased. Maybe that's what Sills told the family. Who knows at this point??

Does someone have the links handy?

have in the past, but mainly I read Sills and WS

THE REASON I STAY SO DARNED CONFUSED~! :scared::tantrum:

besides, we can't TALK abou that on WS, it's GOSSIP, UNLIKE WS, only the facts, of which there are few and only what Sills says or the media, which neither are helping US OUT here !

Yeah! I thought this was weird too. Wonder if Sills has read about this or heard about it?

I hope they are on alert at the PD's for similar type cases, however that works

Sharing something that is probably NOT RELATED but just somethign I can't get out of my head

My cousin has a house she wanted to rent out, she inquired to me about how, told me the people are from Augusta GA, (about an hour from RP)

THey recenlty moved to KY, south KY, they SAY about 4 months ago, clearly they aren't settled yet, so we don't know

they are hours from sterling CO, but but but............they haven't settled anywhere yet

Who are those people ?? and my cousin didnt' get good vibrations from them, I told her to go with her gut feeling no matter what she finds out about them, she knew nothing about all this either

I know SK's move around, not necessarily MOVE/RELOCATE but they could and some have I'm sure

but their murders tend to be in various states, SO...

AND the man is supposedly a medical device expert or something, interesting tooo~
OKAY just being paranoid but WHO KNOWS

They don't have his head but they possibly have the murder weapon that killed Mr. D.
If they found something with Mr. D's DNA and possibly his hair, they think it could the weapon that he was killed with. No DNA from Mrs. D and does not match her head injuries.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills told Channel 2 Action News that he has evidence indicating the killer used two different weapons during last month’s slayings of 88-year-old Russell Dermond and his 87-year-old wife, Shirley.

“I don’t believe they were killed with the same weapon,” Sills told Channel 2. “I won’t elaborate on what the murder weapons were.”

Maybe these 2 Hoodlums in Sterling had heard about the Dermond case previously?? And if they didn't, they didn't, and IMOO it was EVIL, Greed, Selfish, Disgusting Behavior, IMOO.

"The teens told authorities they had planned since early May to smother the Severances with pillows as they slept, but the effort became complicated when the couple put up a struggle."

"Police said the teens told them the killings happened May 20. When authorities discovered Charles Severance's body nine days later after receiving a medical call from Johnson, his wife was missing. Investigators on Monday discovered some of her remains near Sterling and others about 30 miles away in Lorenzo, Nebraska."

Just my opinion, :moo:, but one can never be paranoid enough. I may need my glass of wine early tonight.

I wonder how they could alert everyone in the community about the Dermonds?? If some of the owners only come once a month, or a few times a year....then how are they contacting them to see if they were there that weekend and saw anything unusual? Would they know it was unusual if they aren't there that often? Are most of the owners the kind to mind their business? Or do they socialize on a surface level? Or are they friends with other owners? Do they look out for each other's home when they aren't there? Like the local owners keep an eye on the homes of the ones they know only come a few times a year? In other words, is it a close neighborhood where everyone knows what goes on at another's property?? Or like in the cities where you often don't know your neighbors, but may know they live near you, or in the same apartment building, and may say "HI" in passing, but really don't know anything about their life, their past, their family, etc.?

The reason I'm wondering, because in the blog was posted here, there was some questionaire that was sent to residents, but only if you had an active email account, and checked it did you realize you had gotten it. Many people posted that they never got it, and lived out of the state.

BTW, does anyone remember that blog and can someone link me?
