Article dated June 19th.

One phone call being pursued involved a cell phone found on the counter in the Dermonds’ house, Sills said. It also was a dead end, he said.
Sills said the office continues to get text messages and emails about the case, including those from Dunwoody in the Atlanta area – and Oklahoma.
Those get followed up, he said, but none have led to much.

Sills said he is in touch with the Dermonds’ three adult children – mostly through email.

The latest rumor he’s heard, Sills said, was that the Dermonds were murdered because “they hadn’t paid their mafia dues.”

He wondered, “Where exactly do you go to pay ‘mafia dues’ and how much are they?”

The initial investigation revealed Rosser and other individuals periodically made trips to the Atlanta area, where they purchased methamphetamine and returned to Middle Georgia for distribution.

What started in Jones soon stretched to Putnam and Baldwin. After additional months of surveillance, the investigation extended to Wilkinson, Washington, Jasper, Bibb, Butts, Monroe, Clayton, and Cobb counties.

The result of the investigation was 350 arrests and seizure of more than one-half pound of methamphetamine, 33 firearms, more than $23,000 in cash, and 20 vehicles.

Of the 350 arrests made, 48 were from the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit area.

Arrests began in late October.

Five people arrested were from Putnam County, including Keith Martin Belcher, 54, 110 Cherry Point; Allison Dawn Clark, 40, 203 North Washington Ave.; Gerald Edward Hampton, 51, 167 Spring Road SE; Brandy Nichole Plummer, 30, 331 Twilight Shores; and David Allen Prather, 47, 331 Twilight Shores.

All individuals were charged with one count of RICO as of Nov. 25.

Sills says Belcher is the only person who must return to Putnam to face additional charges.

He also was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes.

So the people who were arrested on June 20th were part of the ongoing RICO investigation? The judge must have considered them very high flight risk as they are all being held without bond.

I don't know if it has been stated in the press the June 20 arrests are related to the RICO/ meth arrests late last year. Maybe they "run"in the same group. I have some more looking to do.
I think it's really strange the June 20 folks are not out on bond. Flight risk or was it the guns?
I know a little about guns. Were the guns seized June 20 unusual models? Who's the gun expert here?
Was there a police report listing the guns stolen from the Reynolds(one of the RP founders/ developers) house during that burglary- last year I think. Just wondering...

I'd love to know what and or who the Dermonds were communicating with on their computer. I wonder if they logged on everyday at the same time.

Done you're homework FF!! This buying property at discount prices was discussed early too, not in regards to the NC, so here it is, rearing it's ugly head again! It's about to be checkmate!

AHA! hey Btsctr! Where is HE now?? Many others to worry over too I'm sure, but racism and religion, can get heated very quickly IMO!!!!

wait, I do know ONE, my brother in law! A time or two dressed his own deer, it was a fantabulous getup! They be's city folk and country folk round these parts in GA

Surely as has been discussed before, someone was in med field or a taxidermist that did this, or desperate,

cutting fish heads is one thing, as fisherman do, but in conjunction with even that and knowing the lake and having no conscience, can easily do the task that was done to the D's, just a larger game,

I HATE HATE HATE to cut off fish heads, makes me cringe

Hiya wildebeest! After reading that article, I do believe maybe the perp(s) went to the Dermond home expecting them to be gone. I wish I could stop being so wishy-washy. All along I have thought that Derby Party somehow played into the Dermonds' murders. Maybe the perp(s) had a list of people planning to attend the Derby party and planned to hit all their houses. They accessed GW/RP by way of the Dermond's boat ramp or even further back on adjoining property. Perhaps the Dermonds were a little slow getting off to the party and the Dermonds and the perp(s) ran into each other. What's your opinion WB?

Bootsie---this idea is intriguing! The Dermonds were planning to attend the Derby party. Do we know the time of this event? Had they RSVPd? Maybe they had decided not to attend, at the last minute, or were delayed in leaving their house. Perp(s) think they have already left, and come to their house, to steal something? My problem is: How do the perp(s) gain entry? If they think the Dermonds have already left for the party, they would have to break in, wouldn't they? If the Dermonds saw the perp(s) approach their door, as they were getting ready to leave for the party, and knew one or more, they could have opened their door to them. Did we ever know what clothing was worn by Mr. D. when they found his body?

So many questions and frustrations...:twocents:

IMHO

1. Is the Dermond's house on the market?!

2. Maybe the head was buried on the Dermond's property. If the perps did use a boat, what an incredible risk they were taking by transporting Mrs. D's body and Mr. D's head. It just doesn't make sense.

only if he has the forensics ! :)

There are so many things we don't know that I wish we did know. If we knew how the D's were dressed we would know what time of day it was and even what day it was. What was the computer logged into? E. G. News, banking, crossword puzzle information. Just an example of what little details, if we knew, could tell us so much.

I don't understand why LE does not share this information. What damage could it do to the investigation? jmo

Glad you are back!:happydance:

not to mention the Marshalls wanted list , thanx
You know, is there a database for ALL watned criminals, lumped together, for the public, I mean do you have to go to each county in each state and then go to the FBI and GBI wanted in addition to those counties? how the hell are we supposed to keep up with these folks that travel distances and states to commit their crimes? Ok, well clearly, that'd be difficult , regardless, just sayin"

Maybe, maybe not Mimi, we are naive to think that people do not hate and wreak havoc in this way, I know they do, our logical is not their logical, whether connected to NC or not, they are quite capable and people do this kind of thing from behind bars, or maybe not York but a muslim and racist and hater within the nc, who brought down his God, who knows, but I believe there are several scenarios posted here, that are quite possible, but I'm torn on which one myself

Earlier someone mentioned a taxidermist.

I was thinking of someone with a wall full of game animal heads.

Trophy in the truest sense?

  • #598
I think that would be a huge stretch. JMO, but I believe that Mr. D was beheaded because his skull contained a bullet that could be linked to another crime. At the very least, it's a far more plausible theory.

For those of you who were theorizing that the perps might have planned to go to the Dermond property while the Dermonds were at the Derby party but were surprised by a late departure on the Dermonds' part, here's another, slightly different possibility: Maybe the Dermonds actually LEFT for the party but realized they'd forgotten something ... and returned for it, surprising the perps. Cell phone, food item for the party ...? Perp/s could have been watching for them to leave and they DID leave...but came back.

Possibly Backwoods, but why not kill them both and leave them both in the garage? Why decapitate Mr D, and abduct Mrs D? Why was nothing disturbed or missing from the home? Why were the security cameras out when the D's murders occurred? Why did KD suspect a cult? Why is the GBI left out of the equation, yet the FBI is assisting in the investigation, as before, in the 2000 investigation of DWY & the NC.. Why are there no significant clues, no POIs or suspects after 9 weeks? Why are they going back to square one in the investigation with fresh eyes? Why the reward? Why the deafening silence? Why is Sheriff Sills so frustrated, and taking this horrific crime so personal? The evil writing is on the wall and the Devil is in the details, imo...
